Tawner pantomimes not being able to see, walking stiffly with his hands out in front of his face. He then acts like he is finally able to recognize shapes as he points to the others in the group.
He then turns to Lucy with a knowing grin. "Don't let her out while us Pathfinders can see either."

As soon as they are out of sight of the coachman...
I am thou, and thou art I,
With you I have forged the contract
let the bonds of society be cracked
I am the eclipse, darkness that covers the sky
Be born my true self and arise,
Black Maiden, Come forth!

"You'll regret this low-life, I swear! I have powerful friends." The half-orc woman warns shaking her boot. Her eyes dart about looking for an escape. "You've heard of the world-famous Pathfinder Society, I'm sure! Well, there you go! I'll expect you'll want to turn tail and run away now before they arrive and see what you've done, being the obvious heartless cowards that you are. Shall I start counting to three, or are simple numbers as far beyond your ken as morals and scruples? One... T-two... T-t-two and a half...."

Black maiden rolls her eyes.
Nice try. We're pathfinders. Nobody notified us of another team being out here, let alone a solo agent. So you might wanna start talking.
She holds the sickle up and licks the blade with a wicked grin.
Before I add "Mocking the pathfinders" to the list of reasons that I give when I explain to the Venture Captain that I killed somebody outside the cave. Feel free to keep going, The longer the list is the less of a lecture I have to listen to. Unless you wanna show us your wayfinder? Only a newbie who just started with the pathfinders wouldn't have a wayfinder, and they wouldn't be given a solo mission.
She decides to conveniently leave out the fact that she is a newbie with no wayfinder, but she's not on a supposedly solo mission.

I really think it is great the way you guys are getting into your roles, separating player and character knowledge and even playing it a bit thick for comedic effect, but on the off chance that there is even one of you who hasn't figured it all out yet (whether by skipping some wall-of-text-hidden clues, failing to remember some bit of story, or skimming a post or two without fully parsing its importance because of the pull of real life and the constraints of the play-by-post format), I give you this trip down Memory Lane.
*♪♫Harp music, wavy lines, harp music, wavy lines....♪♫*
Again you guys are great. I know you know what's going on, but on the off chance that there is some doubt.... I mean, there's government regulations for this sort of stuff, I'm sure. ;) Keep being beautiful.

Kinda figured, you just got gotta play it out. Lucy is the "friendly" side, Black Maiden is mean! Unless somebody wants to step in and real back the demon possessed vigilante from killing the super important NPC? Anybody? Bueller?

Tawner walks the rest of the way to Ulisha. "Hang on. We're not trying to hurt you. Um, the Black Maiden here likes to fight. You understand. Sordid childhood and all that."

Dominic puts his fingers in his mouth and gives a shrill whistle. "Whoa, everyone calm down! We're all on the same side here. We're here to deal for the artifact, not steal it, Ulisha." He shakes his head.
"Listen, we got the spider silk. Sold it for a pretty penny. We can pay you what we got for it."

![]() |

Black Maiden backs down, flipping her hair and stepping away, tapping her sickle at her side.
Why didn't you bloody say so? I guess that means I can't kill her after all.
She turns in a huff, stomping away a few feet before turning back to her rabbit, still nibbling on Ulisha's boot.
MARA. HERE. NOW.

Ulisha |

Dominic puts his fingers in his mouth and gives a shrill whistle. "Whoa, everyone calm down! We're all on the same side here. We're here to deal for the artifact, not steal it, Ulisha." He shakes his head.
"Listen, we got the spider silk. Sold it for a pretty penny. We can pay you what we got for it."
"WHAT!? OH! You must have found my journal. Is that why you're here?? Listen, the price of any one of those errands isn't enough to pay off the people I owe. If the Society wants the Silverhex they're going to have to pay me more than just what some street-corner poisoner will pay for a bit of new cob web. There's enough treasure (and maybe a hair more) between all the notes in my journal to lift the bounty on my head. Like some summoners I know might say: 'You've gotta catch 'em all.'"
"Unless you already have the price." She names a figure.... You don't have the price.
Ulisha casts cure light wounds upon herself: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
"Oh, and you owe me for a new shirt too. And maybe a boot."
Why didn't you bloody say so? I guess that means I can't kill her after all.
Ulisha looks at the Maiden as if she were a particularly thick student.

[Ooc]What a waste of a crit lol.[/dice]
Lucy stares at her for a moment, scratching her rabbit behind the ears and whispers down to it.
Don't worry Mara, I'll make it up to you later, I'll get you some nice fresh blood of a sinner, how's that sound huh? We could always wait here... let the baddies show up and slaughter her... then you would have all the blood you want and I won't have to pay for a shirt belonging to a ex-ungrateful client who really should've been prodding the people she is hiring to keep her alive. But then the captain will be upset we didn't get the silverhex, so I guess we should go on another of her little errands.
The rabbit... purrs? In response.

![]() |

"Thanks for keeping everybody straight, Dominic. Maybe this mother or yours can give Black Maiden a spanking?"
Before the rabbit can growl... "Ulisha, is this where we can expect to find you from here on out? When we do have the, uh, boots and treasure...money...shirt...all of that."

![]() |

Dominic looks confused for a moment. "But she's saving that lesson for you, Tawner..." He grins. "Seriously though, I bet she'd love to show you Calistrian confessionals."
He turns back to the half-orc woman. "Well, Lucy and Mara seems to have decided. We'll run your little errands and get the cash. Just don't get cocky. The Silverhex is the only thing keeping you alive."

![]() |

![]() |

Black maiden tilts her head to Tawner.
Doing what? Maybe you should tell her. She might be willing to part with the item if we promise her protection if she knows... but Mara wants her blood.
She nuzzles the rabbit.
So i'm willing to just do the stuff and hope she's still alive when we get back. If not, Mara can just nibble. Just a bit.

The World's Most Interesting GM |

So what's the plan?

![]() |

I was just gonna go where the team wanted to go... but with no other voices...
Black maiden turns back into Lucy once out of sight. As they make their way back to the carriage.
I think some tomb pilfering is in order... Galtan nobles are the worst, and I'd be happy to relieve them of their things.

![]() |

Dominic shrugs. "You leave treasure in a tomb, it's fair game that someone sometime will take it. It will just happen to be now. Anyone know anything about these Galtans?"
