Waiting on an answer to a question before I put up the next Ginni post. But I realized I forgot to ask a couple of other relevant questions. Would Tami see any visible change in Phaeze? How would Ace be effected being connected to Phaeze's secondary mind?

This is what happens when you take monk levels on top of bender levels and have a caster level high enough to cast haste
On the other hand, chao's haste castings and Ki points (and quick runner shirt useage) are very limited, so you'd beat him in anything long distance easy
lynora |
The only reason Rakki is fast is because there were stories about Tanuki being uncatchably fast. He's way too chill to use it, so don't worry about that.
I'm not actually fussed about it. Just thought it was funny. And hey, now I've got a solution to a problem I was mostly gonna hand wave anyways. :P

FYI- monk bouns to speed is an enchantment bouns, and doesn't stack with haste.

Alacritous is a great template to mimic that kinda of character. Anybody wanna try racing Drisquar, my fallen Bralani from an evil game here on the boards? Hahaha
Could somebody link me the rules for bending?
Also, Lyn, when you have some free time, maybe add a bending section to the campaign info, since it's such a key aspect of our game?

... I'm gonna have to actually use the other half of my getsalt to keep up, aren't I?
That depends, is your character supposed to be all about being fast?
That was kinda Lyn's complaint, Andromeda is basically a female Flash(Jessie Quick?) and yet many of the other PCs are faster than her. Which, is kinda lame, imo.

A large part of it, but not all of it.

I really don't mind there being other speedsters. I don't even have to have Andromeda be the best speedster. My thing was seeing that she was actually quite a bit slower than I'd realized. When the speeds were broken down in Chao Yin's post, I realized that she was actually quite slow for what I'd intended. It was more about the character not being able to do what she was supposed to do. She's supposed to be so fast that your eyes can't even track her when she runs. That's a lot faster than a race car. Basically I made an error in my calculations for speed when I made the character and I was disappointed that she wasn't what I intended. And now I have a template I can apply that gets her there so she can run like , well, yes, like Jessie Quick. :)

"faster then the eye can track" isn't a terribly clear goal.

1. That's pretty cool.
2. Eh, I was just going for superhero fast. I did actually have target numbers to hit, because some delightful person with too much time on their hands wrote an article detailing how fast the Flash would have to have been going to do some of the things he did. I knew I was under those numbers, but I thought I was closer to them than I actually turned out to be. I made mistakes converting between metric and standard. Shocking that. ;PLord Foul II |
"Boy I just love running complicated combats with multiple antagonists who all have different stats." - No GM ever ;)
I have a DM I game with over Skype who does that all the time
I'm assuming he either enjoys it or is a sadomasochist (the sadism part is known of via other means :P)Damiani |

If the nature of the power is 'time manipulation' versus, say, "I move insanely quick, ala Flash" -- then I'd argue your abilities should be more about manipulating Time, versus "I move fast."
There are plenty of ways (and spells) that can do that, and all you need to do is change the special effects to suit your abilities.
However-- if you're using a Class based game system to make 'general' stunts out of your special effect (the Time manipulation), welcome to trying to be creative in a locked system.
Then again, it can work, it'll just take some effort.
I recommend you go with creative game systems, and not Class based ones, if you're looking to be creative.
Two cents!

Well given the rules light nature of this game you could take
this sub par archetype and treat it as a template and increase your movement rate by 40 (if you take 8 rounds to build up speed) you also get four feats from a specific list that notably includes wind stance and fleet
You also get a few other cool but not very potent abilities including the ability to move 15ft without provoking attacks of opportunities, which you could flavor text as you moving with time actually stopped for that brief instance instead of simply slowed for them/accelerated for you (wind stance likewise could be flavor texted as by the time they realize you were there you're already gone and/or the distortions in time leave after images and people sometimes get confused which one to strike at)

I was mostly just pleasantly suprized to find out you don't really have to be going that fast to get blurred movement. At five meters, 17.5 miles per hour to achieve a speed that's hard to focus on, growing more and more indistinct as speed increases- but the farther away, the less this happens.
Heck, you can see the effect by sticking your hand a few inches in front of your face and moving it up and down quickly, and try and tell exactly where it is.
Or better yet, have somone else do it, so you can't feel the hand and make your guess subconiously better as a result.
I am in a strangely good mood for just having learned about another human limitation >_>
icehawk333 |
To be fair most of the time if something is less than a foot from you, you can guess fairly accurate with a wild punch
Well, yes.
But for charecters with high movement like cho or flourence, they'd blur at up to 15 feet with a single move action- sorta.
As it's based on how quickly the're moving, and not how far, it would be safe to say it would blur on nearly every move they make due to the fact even if you don't move the full distance, you're Probobly moving at the same speed for that distance.
And while I'm not saying this should provide a benifit, I do like knowing this for description purposes and just for... Well, general coolness.

So, Tami will most definitely see a physical change in Phaezeriel, and it will affect Ace in an indirect manner. I will include those things in my next post, which will go up directly...

Ace, for all that he is surrounded by a small army of Phaezeriel's, appears unphased. He twirls his staff and plants into the ground, hard. ::"While I do not wish to you fight you, if I must do so to protect Ginni, then so be it. One last warning my friend, and a reminder. Think of Vai, and how she would react to seeing you like this, right now. Do not make me fight you."::
For the record, using the stats of 'Default Ace' in my profile.
Or perhaps he appears Un-Phaezed? :P

another thing you can do to go faster is take the draconic aura feat, choosing the aura of swiftness, boosting everyone's speed within 30ft by 20 ft (untyped bonus)

Sorry I'm not quite ready
I should hopefully be ready by the end of his game day, but vai was introduced really early I on the plot... That's a lot of backlog to read
No worries. I thought that you might not be through all of that stuff yet. I'll keep playing her for now and just let me know when you're ready to take over.

For all my games:
This Friday, Aug 19th, and Sat Aug 20th, plus next Thurs Aug 25th-Sept 6th(possibly longer), I will have potentially spotty posting.
Friday is the huge, EPIC 5 year anniversary wrestling show for the promotion my brother works for, House of Glory.
Saturday is NXT Brooklyn II.
And then next Thursday I leave for Atlanta for several nights of LARP and awesome friends before making my way to New Orleans for the 25th anniversary Grand Masquerade event for Vampire the Masquerade.
Thus, please bot me as necessary.
