Rosa Luminass |
Im sorry to say I have had a long hard think about this and I am going to drop out as well, I just do not have the time of late and so it is with sadness that I have to says good bye guys. U hope you head back to the INn and get others to play with you or the other group all the best Rosa.
Barek Wound-blooded |
I hadn't posted as I was: a) awaiting for the "Barek you're up" statement; and b) unable to do anything anyhow since Barek doesn't have levitate or fly. Unless we can wander around the ceiling and climb up a wall.
DM Jelani |
Unfortunately for you, but not so for game balance, they did not survive :P Sorry to put you guys through that frustration, but I thought it was the best way to deal with losing half the party. It also let me try on my truly evil DM hat for once.
So I've begun recruiting replacements. Two applicants are finished so far with several more in the pipes. I'm just approving them as qualified, it will up to you three who you pick in the end. If you wanna start reading up on your potential new teammates the thread is here
PS:Barek you can post whenever you want. I'd prefer not to DMPC you any more. Sorry if I stepped on your toes with that, I just thought you weren't around.
DM Jelani |
Sorry, let me be completely clear. You three (Nathaniel, Barek and Viorel) will be choosing your three new companions. I am simply approving characters once they are finished and putting them on the list. I don't want to waste time roleplaying it out with all of them, but you three should choose who joins your party. All three of you please look over the applicants and choose the three you'd like to play with.
I already made a post saying this a couple days ago, but apparently the boards ate it since its not there. >_>* Ask them any questions you want.
Viorel Ariaza |
G*% d~!n it. I knew I shouldn't have posted before my morning coffee. So the post in the game play thread was supposed to go here.
Well anyways the promissed update.
Faruldur is so far my favorite of the bunch. Mostly because of the non crucnh things.
Abigail seems nice too. Melee char but still able to get rid of those nasty conditions with time. AC means more meat between Viorel and enemies so naturally he likes :P
I also like Liette, the holy tactician assuming she continues with palading levels is a nice addition.
Another one is Lysander, a dedicated archer with some added usefulness.
No definate picks yet. But one approuch could be picking them one by one since it is a group after all so there is synergy to think about.
Barek Wound-blooded |
On my first take of the applicants I'm leaning towards Abigail, Liette, and Faraldur. Lysander would also be an option but I wouldn't know who to replace. I'll think some more in case my thoughts change.
Abigail Garrett |
Hi All! Thanks for having me.
I was thinking, if DM Jelani is good for it, that Abigail could be tweaked a little more towards melee or archery, depending on the make and needs of the party. Right now, she's a little bit of both, but changing the feats, swapping Str and Dex and adjusting the Belt can push her one way or another.
Let me know what you think.
Nathaniel. |
Hi Abigal, Faraldur, welcome to the game!
Abigail- we only have two melees right now, me and Barek; everyone else is ranged. A third could be handy for setting up flanking and splitting the enemies off, but both Barek and I have faster movement than usual and are pretty tough. If you don't think you could keep up with taking on the GM's demon monstrosities, maybe staying with the other rangers and flinging spells and arrows would work. Particularly as I dare say we might need you more for your castings than your arrows and blades.
Viorel Ariaza |
Liette is good for me. Well that went along much more smoothly than I expected.
Also to all new folk welcome.
Well since Liette is going to be the 3rd new char and she is ranged, might be melee then again versility never hurt nobody.
Also since I am posting anyways how long is it till the flying apparatus is going to be ready? Just thinking if we should wait or not. I think we were gone a week or so another one till it's done if I recall. Other one is that Viorel would like to do some research on the demon that kicked our butts royally, does the keep have a library that he could access/what it would take to get access?
Nathaniel. |
Also, any chance that Rosa and the rest already paid their full share? :) Don't want to hamper the newbies with a cost.
I'd better explain it. Newbies, level 7 bought me enough fly speed and carrying capacity that the DM has allowed us to pay for the creation of a glider transport, powered by me, to ferry us around the Worldwound. It'll take some weeks to complete it, and hopefully we'll find out how long until its ready.
DM Jelani |
Unless you're going to have an AC in excess of 25, and/or a lot of HP, I'd recommend staying out of melee for the most part.
Yes, the newbies don't need to pay. The dead folks already did.
Viorel, Knowledge (Planes): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27. On your own you don't know what that demon was. With a library to aid you, I'll allow another check for every eight hours spent with an additional +4 over your normal check.
I'll have to go back and check, which I don't feel like doing at the moment. But it hasn't been more than a week, let alone two. It's up to you guys whether you wait for the glider to be finished. However, if you fast forward a week and a half and then go back to the same place and the other group is still there this game is just gonna end up paused again. That would be lame. So in the interests of keeping this moving, I'm gonna ask that you guys either spend as short a time in town as possible, or head to a different part of the wound.
No interest in actually claiming enough territory to get titles? One hex is already cleared, a couple more partially done.
Nathaniel. |
No problem; I can wait a little longer.
No interest in claiming any territory so far; firstly because we haven't found any particularly hospitable land, secondly because at any time a DMon can come in and kick our arses, as demonstrated.
Barek Wound-blooded |
I'm ok going a different direction (after waiting for the glider). Weren't those "keep" areas supposed to be a touch more powerful than perhaps we would be?
Q1: Would the glider be able to bypass a hex altogether (with enough altitude say)?
Q: Did we "claim" the land that we had cleared ourselves?
Barek's melee. Low AC but a bunch of HP. A meat shield that often seems to be worse for wear. I always wonder if he's going to survive the next combat. Next purchase might be some Adamantine armor (for more DR) and/or something that adds more AC and/or something that auto-heals when necessary.
Liette d'Argent |
Okay, so, I've read through the discussion thread and I'm starting to get an idea on how this all comes together. The Clydwell Keep thread is sort of for the "home base" of the campaign that I keep seeing referenced as "the keep," yeah?
I presume we're to keep all IC interactions posted there when we drop back to base, and then once we venture out switch to the designated gameplay thread?
Just starting to read the Keep thread now for more info. just wanted to make sure I've got the basics down thus far.
Viorel Ariaza |
Will continue with the rolls after decisions have been made about will be waiting. Apart from possible shopping, if we got the trophies back, Viorel would probably go to the library untill they leave or find something.
Well I think the survivors have pretty good incentive to choose a different route, since it appears that place was way over their head. Back eventually maybe but not anytime soon.
Well Viorel is here because of purely mercenary reasons so he naturally is interested in claiming areas. We could finish up the area we started with and claim that as first task. Then we could see what seems like a prudent decision from there on out.
@Liette you got it.
Liette d'Argent |
@Jelani: I realized I never picked traits, and I was wondering if it would be too late to add some. I was thinking Saint's Ward and Demon Hunter, if that is cool.
Also, I intended Liette to serve as a tactician in the group but I realize every DM has a different opinion of what skill checks are necessary for it. I know in 3.5 that knowledge (history) was used for it. Realizing that local knowledge, survival and perception may not be enough I thought I'd get your opinion on it.
The idea is to have Liette take an overview of the group's intelligence on any given hex we're going to take and formulate a battle plan/course of action to most effectively utilize our resources. If this involves sending out some scouts (or doing recon ourselves) before a full push into a Hex, that also has its benefit.
Let me know if you have any input on that :)
Faraldur Duervalk |
Faraldur can become beefy and wade into melee with the right mutagens and spells, but as he's built right now he'd probably serve better remaining ranged.
My original build for him was actually a mutagen-focused close-combat brawler, taking two levels of Barbarian and using Vivisectionist to sneak attack some demons with a greataxe. :P If the group prefers I could easily go back to that build.
DM Jelani |
I was using the Clydwell keep thread for everything that takes place in the Keep, but more recently I've shifted to keeping it only for shared interactions between the groups. You guys can all post in gameplay here, get to know each other and roleplay out the actual forming up together.
When flying on the glider, only flying opponents are going to be an issue. There's still a chance of encountering fights, but it'll be much lower. You also can't "clear" a hex from the sky. However you could fly above it until you see something moving below and dive down to fight.
To claim land, you need four cleared hexes. Actually the cleared hex was partially done by both groups. So regardless of who does the work of clearing, whoever knows for sure that four contiguous hexes are clear and goes to tell the Keep will get to claim it.
Faraldur Duervalk |
I'm very much happy with the ranged build, so yeah, I'd prefer to stay this way. :P
Besides, I can do pretty well in melee as-is. Strength or Constitution mutagen, an infusion of barkskin and enlarge person, and I'm good to go. The only upside to rolling a bunch of moderate stats rather than some high and some low -- I can do everything! ;)
Liette d'Argent |
I've got a huge blizzard headed in Friday night and through Saturday, so I may lose power/internet during that time. If I seem unresponsive, that will be the cause. It's not terribly likely that I'll lose power, but just in case.
