Ok. I don't want the ring then =) I'll just spend me golds on the belt! Yay +3 strength modifier - I'm so much closer now!

Male Half elf Spell-less Ranger 7
Character Information:

Okay, Orin is going to purchase the following items:

+1 Human Bane arrow (83 gp's)
Amulet of Natural Armor +1 (1,000 gp's)
Stag's Helm (1,750 gp's)

He will also donate 30 gp's (to be combined with Stevic's store credit) toward the purchase of a CLW wand

Male Human Paladin 4 (HP 30/30)

For those that the preestablished facts don't sway him one way or the other, Jon uses his skill in law to find opportunities for mercy within the trial. Over 15, Jon pushes for a sentence other than death.

Stag Lord: Death
Auchs: Rehabiliate - The toys protect you!
Dovan: Profession (Barrister) 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Jex: Profession (Barrister) 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Fat Norry: Must vow to repent and spend the rest of his life doing so or Death
Cragger: Profession (Barrister) 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Dirty Jeb: Profession (Barrister) 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16

If Jex is a snitch, I could use him in my new career as Spymaster. Good snitches are hard to find. I think the Stag Lord and Dovan have to be put to death to make a point. I could support rehabilitating the rest, including Auchs on the condition that they have 1 chance to prove themselves. If they backslide, they die.

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

OK, looks like we're getting close to a consensus -- death for the Stag Lord and Dovan.

Right now, it looks like most people want death for Auchs as well, though Jon is advocating mercy. Not sure how much Jon will want to fight for that.

Jon's roll seems to indicate he thinks Cragger should be put to death as well, but everyone else wants to give him a chance. Jon also didn't weigh in on a few others, but I would assume he can be swayed in all of those cases to give everyone a second chance.

So, once I know for sure about Auchs, I'll start advancing us. (Although, my gf will be over tonight and then tomorrow's the election, so MAY be a bit crazy, to the point I don't know if I'll be able to post.)

Pearls of Power are pretty amazing items for casters who rely on their spells to get them through the day. Witches can lean on their hexes, but pearls of power are still fantastic and fairly cheap. A 1st level pearl of power would only set you back 1,000gp and once per day it'd allow you to instantly recall a 1st level spell you'd cast earlier that day. Pretty great!

I personally think a lesser rod of extend is an awesome item as well. With one of these for 3,000gp, Treshiell could have one casting of mage armor last her eight hours. She'd then have 2 uses left to double the duration of any spell (charm person for 8 hours!) she casts that's less than 3rd level for the remainder of the day.

Pearl of Power it is. I like the rod as well. But should i go for a empower (+2 to save DC) or extend?

Akiros' feelings regarding Auchs actually swayed me away from offering him clemency. Auchs may be dull-witted, but he strikes me now as an irredeemable psychopath. His fixation on his toys actually reminds me a bit of Ed Gein. So, props to you, Akiros, for changing my mind with your compelling testimony as a character witness!

Empower wouldn't boost the DC, actually. Only Heighten boosts DCs. So unless your spells do straight up damage that you'd like to increase to 1.5x three times each day, I'd steer away from empower rod. Widen can be good if you have some AoE spells (like web for instance) that you'd like to make even BIGGER. It's situational, but can be *really* handy too in my experience.

Honestly, I agree with Prazil. I would hate to show clemency to Auchs, only to have him kill or maim someone whose fate Kereek would feel guilty for. The others, besides Dovan and the Stag Lord and Auchs, all seem like criminals more than cruel murderers. I say we know Auchs to be a cruel man by Akiros' testimony. If we are to believe Akiros (and I believe we should, since we have no contradicting testimony), then Auchs must die. And his toys will be buried with him.

Taking the Staglord's bow, so 1542gp, 2sp for me.

Oh, i ment the focused metamagic rod. Is that any good?

Agnar, if you prefer lighter armor there is the SL +1 Leather or Dovan's MW Chain shirt to choose from as well.

*looks up focused metamagic rods...*

Yes! I dig it. That seems like a really good choice for making sure at least one terd gets affected by one of your spells. Bear in mind, it only works on spells that target more than one person/thing. So it wouldn't work with something like charm person but in the case of web you could make it extra sticky for one dude.

I think that's a great pick.

OK, I created the game thread for the next part of the campaign, though that's more so I could start getting the rules up and make things easier for us that way. Let's first finish up in this thread and I'll let you know when we should start posting here.

However, just to be concise, the thread is here.

OK, just added a couple notes to the discussion thread there. Once that's settled, I figure we can start building your main city in the discussion thread, since that'll require a little more bookkeeping/fiddly aspects.

Prazil, you asked earlier about what I didn't want to include. Basically, I've given you the BP (build points) required for anything you want to build, but didn't include the specific effects of buildings (for example, you can assume adding city walls will help the city's defense modifier, but I'm not giving you the specific numbers for that.).

I'll post more about building the city when we get the first things in the discussion thread (and the disposal of the bandits' bodies in this thread) dealt with.

Male Human Paladin 4 (HP 30/30)

Dang postmonster ate my post! So you get the short version instead.

Stag and Deven - death

He also fights for Auchs to be spared. Going so far as take personal responsibility for his rehabilitation.

The rest are spared. Jon looks for opportunities to provide mercy so he is easily swayed by his companions to do so.

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

Whoops, may've jumped the gun a little. I'll let you guys fight it out about Auchs, since it's up to you. Sounds like we've got our Juror No. 8, though.

From field executions to mercy-at-almost-any-cost. Our king is a complicated fellow! =D

I also kind of think that our final approach to this Trial and the subsequent pardons and executions will be indicitative of our kingdom's alignment. If we spare all but the two Jon says, I think maybe we're leaning more toward a N/G type of society. More executions than clemencies? Perhaps more L/N then.

Not saying it *has* to be that way, it just seems to be an indicator is all. Take it for what you will.

Ultimately, Prazil isn't sharp enough to really have an opinion on these matters, other than the basic idea that if there are any executions they should be quick. Bad men like hurting others and seeing others hurt, big heroes don't. As far as the individual executions/pardons are concerned though, Prazil is so impressionable that his vote is probably the same as whomever he spoke with prior to being asked. =P

Male Human Paladin 4 (HP 30/30)

Ok as written, it was an excellent role play opportunity.

As for Prazil's observations, yup that's Jon, still young, still struggling to find his identity.

The chain shirt, then. The leather would lower my AC.

And I think that bit of business finishes us up in this thread, though I'll leave it active for a handful of days for any last-minute business anyone wants. (Oh, and you'll easily be able to figure out the ranseur is +1)

I'd say you can please head over to the other thread and begin posting there. I probably won't have an update until tomorrow, though -- possibly later if the wrong guy wins the election tonight as I'll be trapped in a deep, dark hole of depression.

If anyone wants to purchase anything else on the list, please do so I can zero it out and start fresh with the new chapter.

Also everyone add an additional 185 gp's to your totals for the +1 Ranseur.
I had originally included Auch's toys in my first calculations and since Kereek was so adamant about burying them with him I subtracted out the 45 gp's from the sale price of the ranseur (1155-45/6=185)

I'm good, Orin - thanks for the awesome work handling the monies/loot too. That's one aspect I normally find very tedious in pbps, so your efforts are greatly appreciated!

I know that i've seen the total amount of wealth per character somewhere around here but now i can't find the post. Can someone tell me how much gold Treshiell has to spend?

Everyone got a total of 4327 gp's, 2 sp's to spend.

Thx!

I'll by a lesser rod of extend and 1 pearl of power. Character sheet is updated.

Part of it comes from being married to a CPA and business consultant and part from my own innate anal retentivity. At one point, about 2nd or 3rd level, I realized Orin was walking around with the same 20 gold pieces he had left over from character creation.
