I can take Pilot or Gunner. It looks like Beta has a higher piloting bonus, but also put Gunner as their preferred role.

I'm level 4, so I'm probably 'higher' at most roles (that I am trained in). Gunner is my preferred option, though, since it helps to finish Starship combats sooner.

Sadly, Vanguard doesn't offer much for starship skills or points to fuel said skills, so my only way to make a meaningful impact few the crew is Gunnery.

Who's on which gun again? I'm assuming we've got the turret and the forward arc?

Effectively, we can have two gunners most rounds - turret, plus whatever arc we have facing the enemy.
