I'll be on vacation also from the Sunday the 17th to Saturday the 23rd. I'll have my laptop with me but don't expect too much in the way of posting from me. Feel free to GMPC Orin as you see fit.
Patrik Ström |
I'll be on vacation abroad between the 18th june (this coming monday) to the 2nd of july. During this period (probably the 3rd as well to account for possible jetlag) i will probably not be able to post at all, since i won't bring a laptop and posting on my phone is a pain in the behind.
So Treshiell won't be active during that period.

I usually use Irish for Elvish, Scots Gaelic for Sylvan, and Welsh for Aklo.

As a part time representative of the monster's union i'm going to have to stab myself in the back. If i'm not mistaken you loose your dex modifier to AC when you're grappled (and grappling), which should put Treshiell's AC at a 10 (i've forgotten to update that myself in my posts). So i think that all attacks hit and Treshiell is at -2.
Round 4, initiative 19
ac 10, touch 10, fleet-footed 10
fort +2, ref +2, will +5
cmd 12
hp -2/17
effects: 1 con damage, grappledMore blood spurts from Treshiell's mouth as the wyrm continues to rake her and she falls limply into its claws. Thaal slithers quickly up her arm to rest on the witch's neck and hisses angrily at the larger reptile.
** spoiler omitted **
Although if i'm wrong i'll use Evil eye hex to give the tatzylwrym a attack penalty as a standard action and then Cackle as a move action.
It used to be a -4 dex penalty didn't apply vs the grappler but they have changed the rules so many times, I've half giving up on them. But actually I think now it does apply but gets cancelled out because they also get a -2 to their attacks.

From PFSRD:
There are some contradictions between the various rules on grappling. What is correct?
To sum up the correct rules:
Grappling does not deny you your Dex bonus to AC, whether you are the grappler or the target.
A grappled creature can still make a full attack.
Being pinned does not make you flat-footed, but you are denied your Dex bonus.
Prazil |
Grappled creatures cannot move and take a –4 penalty to Dexterity. A grappled creature takes a –2 penalty on all attack rolls and combat maneuver checks, except those made to grapple or escape a grapple. In addition, grappled creatures can take no action that requires two hands to perform. A grappled character who attempts to cast a spell or use a spell-like ability must make a concentration check (DC 10 + grappler's CMB + spell level), or lose the spell. Grappled creatures cannot make attacks of opportunity.
A grappled creature cannot use Stealth to hide from the creature grappling it, even if a special ability, such as hide in plain sight, would normally allow it to do so. If a grappled creature becomes invisible, through a spell or other ability, it gains a +2 circumstance bonus on its CMD to avoid being grappled, but receives no other benefit.
If you are grappled, you can attempt to break the grapple as a standard action by making a combat maneuver check (DC equal to your opponent's CMD; this does not provoke an attack of opportunity) or Escape Artist check (with a DC equal to your opponent's CMD). If you succeed, you break the grapple and can act normally. Alternatively, if you succeed, you can become the grappler, grappling the other creature (meaning that the other creature cannot freely release the grapple without making a combat maneuver check, while you can). Instead of attempting to break or reverse the grapple, you can take any action that doesn't require two hands to perform, such as cast a spell or make an attack or full attack with a light or one-handed weapon against any creature within your reach, including the creature that is grappling you.

5 guys from college and I get together once a year over the summer for a camping trip to a cabin in Pennsylvania. We'll be heading out for this year's trip in about 4 weeks.
While we are there, we play DnD/Pathfinder =)
This year, a new DM is starting a new campaign. We start at 17th level and are gestalt.
One character is creating a monk/inquisitor whose whole schtick is grappling things. =(
=( =( =(
I predict more rules-lookups than actual play-time =(

I live in Swedesboro, work in Mount Laurel.
Went to college in Lancaster, PA and our annual cabin trip is in a little town called Tipton, which is just south of Altoona. If you've ever heard of Delgrosso's Amusement Park (or their spaghetti/pizza sauce!) the park is actually right at the base of the mountain.
Somewhere, about a 1/2 mile to the left of the road HERE is the Cabin. =P It is, quite literally, the weekend I most look forward to every year. This will be our 9th!! trip!

Yup, you're right, thanks, Treshiell. Appreciate it.
Unless the wyrms rolled their grab with a -20 penalty, I interpret it as Treshiell would not get hit, beause the wyrm would be subject to the -2 attack roll while grappled penalty to it's rake. In other words, grapple sux.
Thaal hisses angrily as Treshiell lies crumpled, though the little serpent doesn't have long to worry as Jon lays on hands. The healing energy knits her wounds closed, though she remains unconscious. 2 hp healing; Jon, I changed your action based on your comments about now that Treshiell was looking better. Also it looks like you get 2d6 healing with each use of the ability, though you wouldn't know it by the way I rolled.
Jon would certainly try to save Treshiell hoping someone else will drop the wyrm.
Sadly, Lay on hands gives 1d6 for every 2 levels (not every odd level, like channel) so the second dice doesn't kick in until 4th. Not that I'm not open to house ruling otherwise. :)
In the meantime since your roll "fell off the table" 1d6 ⇒ 5 :)
That'll be my last post until I get back, I think. You'll probably finish them off this round, though --...
Have fun.

I hope everyone is enjoying (will enjoy) their vacations. I'll be very sporadic for the next week while I'm on my vacation. So GMPC Orin if you need to.
Thanks.

motteditor, when we initally joined up you'd mentioned that you were ok with retooling our kobolds after the ARG was released. Well, I've picked up the pdf and there are 2 minor adjustments I'd like to see if you'd be ok with.
1) The Beast Bond alternate racial trait fits Prazil to a T! I'd lose Crafty (+2 to craft(traps), perception, & profession (miner), craft(traps) and stealth are always class skills) and in exchange gain a +2 racial bonus on handle animal and ride checks. They'd also be class skills, but they're already class skills so that's moot.
It hurts to loose the racial bonus to perception, but the whole description in Beast Bond just fits Prazil so well I feel like I need it. =P
2) I'd also like to pick up the cavalier's favored class option for kobolds, which would max out at level 3. He'd gain +5/lvl (max +15) speed to his mount whenever charging or withdrawing. Moving forward, he'd shift back to getting +1hp though I am considering moving it to skills to shore up his perception which will take a hit if the Beast Bond alternate racial trait gets your approval.
Let me know what you think!
Prazil |
Also, with the Advanced Race Guide, Kereek may definitely want to take a look at this favored class bonus for sorcerers!
Sorcerer: Choose acid, cold, electricity, or fire
damage. Add +1/2 point of the chosen energy damage
to spells that deal the chosen energy damage cast by
the sorcerer.

We've got a paladin in the group now, so someone actually has a decent diplomacy score. How about we let Jon take the lead on this one?
jumping in from my vacation to take offense to the above statement. treshiell's got a +5 to diplomacy, and the charm hex (which is useless though thans to motteditor's saves... :)

Fair enough, but Jon's score is +10...

Never mind, I thought Demoralize is an AoE, turns out it's just for a single target. so Orin will Intimidate the leader of the group and hopefully get the others to follow his cue.

I wouldn't worry about it anyway, Patrik. Not like she couldn't have changed spells during the copious amounts of downtime.
Also, I may be a bit sporadic for the next week. A friend of mine who'd moved out to California was back to visit her boyfriend; unfortunately they got in a fight and now she's apparently staying with me for the week. Granted, I usually end up posting from work, so it's possible there might not be any change, but just figured I'd give a head's up.
Orin Ro |
I'm going to be kind of sporadic this week myself (my daughter's birthday was on Tuesday, today is my wife's, and Saturday is my daughter's party with a dozen screaming seven year old girls and then my sister's birthday party in the evening.)

RE: Treshiell's vomit swarm
Ugh. Reminds me of one of the creepiest, grossest things I've seen in a movie. The Brothers Grimm had the woodsman feed a horse a bunch of spiders, which it much later vomited up to capture a little girl in webs. Worse still, the webs and spiders sprayed from the horse's mouth like a cone, and when the girl had been covered in spiders and webs, the horse then "reeled her in" and swallowed her whole to deliver her to the creepy woodsman.
[shudder]Ugh.[/shudder]
