Tanith 'Kordson' Creed |

I finally got caught up with the loot. Fun Fact: The last time we did loot was February. We're currently looking at 19k each but we've got quite a few items that need IDing still.
From the hullathoin:
charm bracelet
From the worm nagas:
adamantine chain shirt that radiates magic
brass wand styled to resemble a dead tree that radiates magic
A pair of snug leather gloves that radiate magic
From the kyuss knights:
clay mace
white bow
What's the pricing for Marka's rapier? I wasn't sure how to price the crit property. Did the Kyuss knights have any loot other than their weapons? I didn't see a post mentioning it.

...now I'm tempted to have my next character start with a copy of the Korush Accounts. XD

I used to toy with different ideas for replacements on a pretty constant basis, but I'm not sure if I could even get Farrukh killed if I tried at this point, unless I wandered off alone somewhere.
I've always thought he should probably stay dead if he died.
Good job on the articles by the way KC! Fun to read.
BTW I've kind of wondered: How much have we deviated from the "norm" of this AP over the course of the game? Do most players actually deal with the Marquis and Weaver as soon as they meet, or is our "unlive and let unlive" philosophy more normal? And other stuff you've been surprised by, if it doesn't spoil anything. I've got the feeling on a few occasions that we've kinked things up a bit.

Kobold Catgirl |

Let's see. I'll look for some good bits.
1. Most groups side with Flycatcher and kill the Marquis. He's undead, it's an anti-undead adventure path, yadda yadda. Same with the Harbinger.
2. Zyrxog is supposed to die in the one encounter you face him in, and it's Okoral (remember Raknian's assassin buddy) who kills Eligos after getting wind of his prying into dangerous matters. But you guys smashed Zyrxog's tub of babies, which was the one reason the adventure specified he refuses to flee. So he fled. So remember, kids: Infanticide never pays!
3. Most groups massacre the lizardfolk before meeting Hishka. I thought that was stupid. And boring. So when you guys tried to initiate diplomacy, I let them take the whole "invaders busting in and killing our harpies" thing in stride.
4. Sruggut was not supposed to be befriended—it was supposed to offer its books in trade for teleportation, then turn on you. But you guys didn't want the books. You wanted An Interview with the Wormpire. So instead Sruggut ended up becoming your dearest, most cherished friend.
5. Loris Raknian was supposed to get away. So was Ilthane.

g*!~@#mit I'm trying
:P
Yeah, Farrukh and Tanith have gotten pretty close to indestructible at this point. I'd say Cuetzpalli isn't far behind, though he does have a pretty substantial chink with his low AC. Spire of Long Shadows was (is) most likely the most deadly adventure in the path, barring perhaps Three Faces of Evil and one that's coming up in a bit, and only one encounter really put a loss on the table. This is just an extremely well-optimized party, and there's no real way to create a challenge without heightening the "rocket tag" syndrome of higher levels. It's something I've had difficulty accepting.

Ah, the satisfying benefits of good jump checks and a dedicated grappler in the party.

On the plus side, due to that somewhat focus on survivability, our damage output is more reasonable than if we'd focused on that (with a slightly different focus by next level I could potentially be adding 6d6 damage to every swing and ignoring all DR and Hardness once per combat, for example, and Tanith could be hitting a lot harder).
I feel fairly comfortable with where they are, unlike some other high level characters I've had (level 16 Barbarians and level 20 archers are disgusting).

Tanith 'Kordson' Creed |

Does the 'evil item' pricing penalty apply to everything? We've got an unholy bastard sword and unholy greatsword in the pile as well.
Does anyone want any of this stuff?
Necklace of Adaptation
gloves of arrow snaring
ring of protection +2 (x3)

Carina Viera |

I think I'd like the necklace of adaptation.

Tanith 'Kordson' Creed |

That's fine. I was just curious for bookkeeping purposes.

Tanith 'Kordson' Creed |

Okay, after bumping the evil items down we're at 20,590 gold each.
Carina is at 16,090 gold with a necklace of adaptation.

Carina Viera |

I'm beginning to have my doubts that Carina's ever going to live the Coenoby affair down...

Astraden Limhaare |

Lurker here. Great game. The dining on small helpless animals was funny.
Huh, I actually don't remember which moment you're referring to. Was it the guinea pigs or something before that?
@Tanith Astraden wanted Marka's rapier and ring of protection +2. If Eben's willing to UMD for me (and if I have enough cash left over?), I'll buy the wand of barkskin as well.

Tanith 'Kordson' Creed |

If you want the wand of barkskin it's all yours. I figured everybody had a source of natural armor already.
Carina
15,775.00 gold
Necklace of Adaptation
Astraden
7,125.00 gold
marka's rapier
ring of protection +2
wand of barkskin (42 charges)
Everyone Else
20,275.00 gold

Tanith 'Kordson' Creed |

Yeah, there was three rings so you're welcome to grab one.

MannyGoblin |

Carina Viera |

One additional piece of shopping for me. I'm considering getting either a Headband of Mental Superiority +2 or a Headband of Vast Intelligence +4. Any recommendations for one or the other?

Carina Viera |

With that in mind, maybe I should spring for a Headband of Inspiring Wisdom instead...

Sundakan |

Well, the +2 in Int still helps. We could use another Knowledge, for instance. But the +2 Int/+2 Wis would be better than a +4 Int.
Ideally you'd finally get a Cloak of Resistance in the mix. You could get both and be up +4 to Will (and +3 to Fort and Ref) with 1000 left over. I can lend you the extra 1500 for a Haversack if your carrying capacity is what you're worried about.
Or you could spend part of that 1000 gp on scribing Ant Haul and just cast that every day.

Carina Viera |

I'm thinking about getting an Ant Haul scroll and just using extracts of that from now on. I'm not really putting my 1st-level slots to use aside from Shield anyway.
So, Headband of Mental Superiority + Cloak of Resistance? How many pluses would that be? +3?

Carina Viera |

Can't really think of anything else.
And I think that's the Headband of Mental Prowess you're thinking of. But, considering the +2 CHA bonus I get from my Wayfinder, it would be a more economical purchase anyway.

Carina Viera |

So, final shopping list for me:
--1 Headband of Mental Prowess +2 (Int/Wis) (10,000 GP)
--1 Cloak of Resistance +3 (9,000 GP)
--1 Scroll of Ant Haul (50 GP)
Final Total: 19,050 GP spent!
And I'd like to get my Black Dragonskin cloak enchanted to become a Cloak of Resistance +3. :)

DankeSean RPG Superstar 2010 Top 32, 2011 Top 4 |

Lessee, purchases:
Raise Cloak of Resistance to +4 (7k)
Ring of Protection to +2 (6k)
Ghostvision Gloves (4k)Leaving me with 3000 gp to save.
Unless the particular ring of protection you currently have has some kinda sentimental value, you could just claim the third ring +2 that's in the loot pile. That will only deduct from your share by 4,000 gp instead of spending 6,000 on an upgrade. (And then you could sell the original ring to recoup some of that.)

![]() |

Astraden sells her old ring of protection +1 for 1000 gp.
I'm buying:
Wand of cure light wounds (50 charges, CL 1) - 750 gp
Cloak of resistance +1 enchantment on cloak of charisma +2 - 1000x1.5=1500 gp
Skelepuns Rambling skull spell research (3 days, can be done at same time as scroll scribing) - 2000 gp
Scrolls of:
remove blindness/deafness CL 5 (1 day) - 187.5 gp
restoration CL 7 (1 day) - 450 gp
restoration CL 7 (1 day) - 1350 gp
word of recall CL 12 (2 days, recall location is the All-Seeing Eye in Magepoint) - 900 gp
silence CL 3 (1 day) - 75 gp
tongues CL 7 (1 day) - 350 gp
invisibility purge CL 5 (1 day) - 187.5 gp
remove disease CL 12 (1 day) - 450 gp
break enchantment CL 9 (2 days) - 562.5 gp
Total: 8762.5 gp
Takes a total of 12 days to scribe all the scrolls, including Carina's (see below).
Is anyone aware of a magic item that gives swift or move action detect law? Wondering if I should start saving up for something or just knuckle under and buy a wand. (Found a staff but it does standard, and is about 50x as expensive as a wand, and I'm definitely not going to need 2500 castings of detect law.)

Sundakan |

Lessee, purchases:
Raise Cloak of Resistance to +4 (7k)
Ring of Protection to +2 (6k)
Ghostvision Gloves (4k)Leaving me with 3000 gp to save.
So, to amend this, I start with 16, 275 gp for buying ring +2.
Cloak +4 (7k)
Ghostvision Gloves (4k)
Amulet +2 (6k)
Sell Ring +1 (1k).
Leaves me with 275 gp to save.

Carina Viera |

Alrighty then!
I'll be trading in my muleback cords for 500 GP, and I'll be cleaning out the following from by backpack:
--1 +1 Seeking Pistol (500 GP Sell Value)
--1 Masterwork crossbow (167.5 GP)
For a total of 1167.5 GP.

![]() |

I'm also going to sell my scroll of create food and water (gross) and make a scroll of festival feast (cool), which is somehow cheaper, so I recoup 112.5 gp and take a total of 13 days to scribe all scrolls.
Also selling the cold iron dagger (+2 gp) and er . . . let's say the waterskin (+0.5 gp), because being real if I can't speak and move well enough to create water I probably can't access my waterskin anyways.

Eben MacTeague |

So Eben's class retraining will be 5,500 gp, plus I'm going to need to train out the Requiem feat (I won't have Dirge of Doom, Fascinate, or Suggestion anymore, so not much use for it.) for another 600. I might retrain some spells, but I'm not sure yet.
That leaves me 10,175 gp. I actually lose longsword and whip proficiency with my new archetype, so I'm going to sell my masterworks of those and buy a masterwork longspear instead. Kind of irrelevant- I think I've done melee maybe twice this entire campaign, but still worth noting. That comes out about even. Also selling my old ring +1, so that's another 1,000 back. And, sadly, I think it's time for Grifter and Eben to part ways. (I can phantom steed if I need a horse, now.) The horse and his gear brings in about another 63 gp.
So altogether I have about 11,138 to play around with. I'll need some more weapon blanches and arrows, and I'll want to get some new scrolls to use in conjunction with Arrowsong's Lament, but otherwise I'm not sure what magic items I want. Probably just be dull and upgrade my cloak of resistance to a +3 (which would be 5,000 gp) and maybe get a strength belt for 4,000 (extra arrow damage is extra arrow damage.) Mnemonic vestment is also a possibility.
I've also got some feats to reassign and spells to pick.

Astraden Limhaare |

Yeah, I also need to figure out what happens to Astraden's horse. She would be willing to just give Lynwerd away as long as whoever's taking her isn't going to sell her to a glue factory.
People to give Lynwerd to:
Robin - Already has one
Eligos - Can teleport now?
Allustan - NO
Raddle - Maybe? He might decide to butcher her for a feast or something though
Rillikandren - I don't want him leaving DL but I guess maybe
Manzorian - Possibly the most trustworthy horse owner
Cymria - Possibly the least trustworthy horse owner
Anyone in Lambere - Horse eaters
Marinn - Still avoiding contact with her, but I guess having a horse would be pretty useful for her
Anlathi - Not an animal person
I think we can assume Astraden has a little montage where she interviews each horse candidate and comes away not being impressed with any of them. Then when she's considering giving up on a selection and just bringing Lynwerd along for the next adventure, she sees Clunk clanking past on the street, and makes her choice.

Cuetzpalli |

My net is out at home so I’ve been unable to post. I’ll be back to posting soon as it gets fixed.

Cuetzpalli |

Okay, my internet is back. Sorry if I missed some RP, but I'm pretty much ready to move on. I guess I just need to spend my 20,275.00 gold.
Sell cloak of resistance +1 - 1000 GP
21,279 GP
Buy cloak of resistance +4 - 16000 GP
5,279 GP
Buy ring of deflection +1 - 2000 GP
3,279 GP left.
