"Ohmigosh guys, this place is TOTALLY cool! Like... that sphere is so PRETTY!! But Nemesis there is TOTALLY right, we should, like, search first? We're supposed to EXPLORE, cuz we're PATHFINDERS!"

![]() |

Nemis ignores the change to his name. "Yes, let us explore."
Took a random guess on placement for the next opening in the area.

GM thunderspirit |

The party makes it way past the fallen doors and see the alcove with the stone fountain again. The carving above it is of a cyclops breaking free of clutching tentacles. The basin is full of clear water.

![]() |

"Okay, I'm starting to wrap my head around this a bit. The Starwatcher does mind control, and deserves a good deal of comeuppance shoved its way. But why does it want the discs? And why don't we just let the statue kill it? You can't mind control a statue, right?" Jillia asks, looking for clarification, as the group continues exploration.

![]() |

"That assumes the statue CAN kill it. We still don't know wha tthe discs do either, why they're important."
Nemis eyes the waters, concentrating to detect magical auras about them. Hmmmmm Rule #9 1d2 ⇒ 1. Oh boy...
Assuming he doesn't detect necromancy, Nemis takes the opportunity to drink from the fountain and refresh himself.

Arcana: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Despite not being able to discern the exact effects, the aura doesn't frighten the psychic and he drinks from the fountain.

GM thunderspirit |

Nemis finds the draught quite refreshing.

![]() |

Does the sphere look like the one at Azlant Ridge?
"Remember not to look in the crack," the priest intones, hoping his headache will dull. He moves to look at the next alcove.

![]() |
Oloch is also suffering a headache. Not from magic spheres but from the presence of Kaylee Sharpston...
Seriously Charisma 20?
Solemnly the large half orc mutters the words which have guided that last years of his life...
Explore, report, cooperate, explore, report, cooperate... as he clenches his fist. The man is quite frustrated by this mission... while beheading a hydra felt quite good the remainder of this mission has been a blur of boredom for the Gorumite.
Well if the statue can't kill it maybe we can... afeterall we're Pathfinders right?

![]() |

"Can we just plug that crack up?"

Oh, when she wants to charm the pants off someone, she can pull that off. But she normally is just happy-go-lucky and kinda dumb-seeming... until she's not. Stupid like a fox, you might say. :)
"Yeah guys, we can TOTALLY kill it, right? I mean, I've helped other Pathfinders kill all kinds of mean creatures before! We killed this icky thing called a jinn-kinn, and we killed some elementals... and we made friends with all kinds of cool creatures too! I have one best friend who's a goblin, and one best friend who's a kobold, and one best friend who's a really weirdo fish... oh and that big dragon guy that calls himself the diamond sage! He was kinda boring, but he's a dragon so he's still cool!"

GM thunderspirit |

Oloch is also suffering a headache. Not from magic spheres but from the presence of Kaylee Sharpston...
Seriously Charisma 20?
That's a totally different kind of headache.
Anyone else want to do something with the fountain? Or are we ready to move on?

![]() |

"I do believe Tahonikepsu prefers the pronoun 'she'..."
Muzhaa'f flashes a quizzical look at Nemis and scans the fountain for auras. Detect magic.

![]() |

"If something pushes us to flee through, I do NOT want to subject my mind to that thing. I am confident in my willpower, but I'm also wise enough to know that this is not the time to test it."
Nemis then grabs one of the busted doors nearby and props it up over the crack. Once done, he crosses over the hall, ready for the next room...

![]() |

"Ohmigosh you're TOTALLY right Muzzy... I'm not used to dragon anatomy... plus I generally don't care if people are male or female, I'm an equal opportunity lover!" Kaylee winks suggestively at Muzhaa'f. "I'll TOTALLY have to apologize to her when I see her next!" Kaylee looks genuinely upset to have offended the diamond sage, even if she's not here to hear it.

GM thunderspirit |

Nemis grabs one of the fallen doors and realizes that Large-sized stone doors, even in pieces, are really, really heavy.

![]() |

Yeah, nevermind. On to the next one!

GM thunderspirit |

Jilia (who seems the type, but feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken) opens the stone doors across from the crack; they open noiselessly and appear to still be in perfect balance.
The walls in this room feature mosaics of a stylized cyclops wearing an ornate one-eyed mask and commanding other cyclopes. In the carving, the cyclops places the mask on other cyclopes to cure blindness and, in one image, seemingly bring one back from death. A large slab in the northwestern corner holds only dust, though a smaller shelf above it bears an odd, one-eyed mask, which is revealed as magic under detect magic.

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
I don't know what that device does, but this isn't my area of expertise apparently. I can guess by the story being told though.

![]() |

"Seems likely," Jillia says, nodding to Nemis's suggestion. "Is it safe to take?"

![]() |

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14 my Spellcraft is abysmal, sadly...
"I am not sure... the magic is hard to read. I am certain, however, that this artifact relates to the strange events here."

GM thunderspirit |

Forgot to show the mask's image.
Little GM cookie: at low tier, this item is a nice little goodie; it's far, far more important at the high tier.
Jillia opens the next set of doors, which also open remarkably easily. The room within is distinct from the others in that there are no carvings on the walls, nor any indication that the chamber, which appears to be a crypt, was ever used.

![]() |

"Odd." Nemis looks around, perhaps there is more than meets the eye.

![]() |

"Not much need for crypts if the mask brings cyclopes back to life, I guess?" Jillia shakes her head. "Too bad it only has one eye slot," she adds, glancing around the untouched crypt.
Take 10 perception: 12

GM thunderspirit |

Nemis and Jillia search the empty room and confirm that it is, in fact, empty. ;-)

![]() |

Nemis eyes the remaining door. "Let us hope there is some sort of epiphany on the other side of that door that leads us to a solution to either the automaton or the strange mindbender in the crack."
The psychic prepares. Once ready, he nods.

![]() |

I already rolled the dice with the fountain. I'll let someone else do this. :-)

![]() |

"Wait! It's not safe." Muzhaa'f cries, rifling through his bag. He hands a trail ration to Inira. "Okay, now go ahead."
"What? No sense being horribly cursed on an empty stomach."

GM thunderspirit |

Inira puts on the mask and discovers that she is not in fact, horribly cursed. (Of course, she still doesn't know what the mask does.)

![]() |

She is, however, hungry. She takes the trail ration and has a few bites. "Thank you! Does this mask make me look, well... how does it look?"

![]() |

"Brings more questions than answers... and we are running short on the latter here. Let us try these next doors."
Detect magic on the double doors to the north.

![]() |

I know the GM is AFK today, but...
After Muzhaa'f scans the door, Nemis prepares himself by grabbing some debris from the broken doors and scatters it on the ground

GM thunderspirit |

Muzhaa'f doesn't detect any magic emanating from the doors, so Jillia and Oloch confidently stride forward to open them.
This wide room has two alcoves to the west and east. The western alcove bears mosaics of a burly cyclops with a flail and shield; in one image, a human with a conical hat hands the cyclops a flail, while in each other image the large cyclops is smashing fiends or serpent-headed humanoids with it. A large slab in this alcove is empty, but a shelf above it contains a fine-looking heavy flail and a badly dented steel shield.
Of more immediate concern, however, is the pair of large snakes here, each with a head at either end of its long, coiling body! Both display large sets of fangs!

Jillia will delay to Kaylee, just in case, then:
