Fire Bolt (Sp) 7/day Muzhaa'f can, as a standard action, target a creature within 30ft with a ranged touch attack. If successful, the fire bolt does 1d6+2 fire damage. Spontaneous Casting Muzhaa'f can spontaneously exchange any prepared spell (with the exception of domain spells) for a cure spell of equal level or lower. Tactics and Play Style:
Type: Wizard (healer) If he can't talk to it, Muzhaa'f will burn anything and everything with fire. He'll do his best to patch up his friends afterwards. Other than that, he is best described as your typical Qadiran fanatic of Sarenrae, although he is a Pathfinder and keeps a meticulous journal of his expeditions.
Background:
In most everything, Muzhaa'f is very much a Qadiran. Born into a good merchant-class family, most of his early life was spent in caravans criss-crossing the vast Padishah Empire of Kelesh and the Inner Sea region in pursuit of the golden coin. However, his life took a new direction after disaster struck one year in the Meraz desert. His caravan became lost in the sands, wandering for weeks with rapidly dwindling water supplies. First the old died, then the young, and finally even the camels. Muzhaa'f maintains that he survived on account of his daily (and, during those days, hourly) prayers to Sarenrae. One of few survivors, he decided to dedicate his life to his goddess and went to study under a famous Qadiran theologian. There, he grew strong in the Dawnflower's graces, blessed particularly with her gifts of control over the element of fire. Muzhaa'f believes that this power, the same that was used so effectively against the Rough Beast in the dawn of time, is the truest expression of Sarenrae's might and power, and keeps his skills in its use as sharp as can be. How Muzhaa'f became a Pathfinder is a slightly different story. Since his family often traveled across the Meraz expanse, Muzhaa'f has had a slight obsession with the history of the Burning Crusade launched in that desert so many centuries ago. After his near-death experience there, he not only sought to further ingratiate himself in Sarenrae's graces but also to know more of that epic lost expedition against the Cult of Moloch. He found this in the libraries of Skyreach, after much searching and travel and red tape among the libraries of Katheer. Of course, not anyone can peruse the Grand Lodge's many tomes--so Muzhaa'f needed to become a Pathfinder. It's been a natural fit ever since: adventure, coin, and ample opportunity to spread the word and light and flame of the Dawnflower.
Journal (Major Spoilers):
Journal of the Expeditions of Muzhaa'f of the Burning Desert, Servant of the Dawnflower, Under the Auspices of the Pathfinder Society of Absalom 1st of Neth, 4714 AR
Arrival in Katheer presented a choice rather than a briefing; a note instructed us to assist the esteemed Trade Prince Aaqir al'Hakam in his maneuverings at the funereal rites of his former mentor Trade Princess Zarmina Bahjari. We chose to bring a silver-chased scimitar as a gift to the family on behalf of the society. Met with al'Hakam, who further advised to assist with improving relations with five key individuals: Temel Passad, Doritianna Raffella, Metella Rauger, Pellius Melkior, and Jakti al'Awar. Wake commenced, focused my own efforts on Jakti al'Awar, a fellow follower of Sarenrae's teachings. Met with some success; I am given to understand that others had equal or greater success with Temel Passad and Metella Rauger but not so with the other two. At the time of offering gifts, I delivered our Society's condolences, though that was not my finest hour. The deceased rose as an unholy horror, which we destroyed with fire and steel. Some civilians were injured, but all lived. Patrolled the area at request of al'Hakam. Received two missives, one from Raffella pledging fealty if her debt is purchased from Passad, the other more urgent from Jakti. Met with Jakti, who expressed fear of assassins and asked for protection. Meeting interrupted by a wave of undead. Rushed through them to reach assassins attempting the life of Passad; defeated them with fire and steel. Vanquished the undead threat with the same. Discovered evidence on assassins damning several parties; likely planted. Sent to ascertain state of the funereal priest in the crypt. Discovered she was the source of the necromantic interruptions. Destroyed her and her undead minions with fire and steel. Settled the accounts with Raffella and with al'Hakam. Returned to Absalom by sea. 1st of Abadius, 4715 AR, Foundation Day
Instructed by Bennary to explore a specific Gloomspire, known as the Tomb of Sempet Sevenfingers, and locate an artifact known as the orb of stars that may allow greater exploration of the site. The orb's location recorded by one Mazzer Thrennt, a some-time Pathfinder and disreputable pirate, as having been hidden behind a collapsed archway near the 'Hall of the Flesh Eaters.' Traveled to the Tomb of Sempet Sevenfingers, identified by the permanent shipwreck wrapped around its base, via small craft provided by Bennary. <sketch of the tower and shipwreck> Ascended to the top of the Gloomspire. Encountered five humanoids at top of stairs. Made attempt at contact, but attacked immediately. Destroyed them. Later identified them as Kuru cannibals. Determined that they had recently eaten one of their own in hunger. <sketch of gruesome mounted skeleton> Encountered a statue composed of one-eyed humanoids (possibly Cyclopean in origin) imbued with necromantic and fear-generating energy. Was unable to destroy it. <sketch of Cyclopean statue> <sketch of Gloomspire surface> Descended narrow, vine-choked shaft into Gloomspire marked by narrow handholds. Shaft filled with small Cyclopean statuettes. Several fell upon Keelah and Orryn after a shift in the vines. Collected one for study. <rubbing of a statuette> Encountered a magically enchanted statue, made to appear as though its eyes follow the viewer. A dead Kuru lay at its feet. Statue may have had other enchantments as Grumpy stated that he felt cannibalistic upon approaching it; however, this may just be his normal disposition. <sketch of creepy hag statue> Gloomspire architecture strange and eldritch, with oddly aligned shadows and walls that appear non-linear when not attentive, but perfectly straight upon measurement. Encountered a strange leech-infested pool. Apparent color variable and uncertain. Pool feeds a large banyan tree forming most of one wall; in its roots discovered an abandoned satchel likely left by a (possibly deceased) party-mate of Thrennt. Contained wyvern-leather sandals that heightened reaction times, as well as a hastily scrawled note. The latter portion of the note was smeared and unintelligible. Retained for future study: "We lost Gavreth, Kehm, and Nars in the Hall of the Flesh Eaters. Before he died, the wizard claimed the horror is a work of necromancy. I know it at least responded to holy water, so that means we should be able to—" Discovered the Hall of the Flesh Eaters. Several ghouls continuously devouring a massive, quivering pile of putrefied flesh that regrew as consumed. Determined that this must be the Horror spoken of in the scrawled note. Destroyed the ghouls with fire in the name of Sarenrae. The Horror also responded to the fire and to positive energy, becoming severely damaged for a time. Encountered a descending stairwell, ending in a stone door depicting a scowling face after 27 steps. Door resisted all attempts at opening, including the pick and axe. Encountered Rajhan-Vol, the entombed one-time shipmate of Sempet Sevenfingers. According to the monster, Rajhan-Vol and comrades were imprisoned here for all eternity by Sempet after a failed mutiny, cursed with all-consuming hunger. Rajhan-Vol attempted to parley for escape, but betrayed the negotiations. Destroyed him and his followers with cleansing flame. Destroyed the Horror with fire and steel while Grumpy tunneled through the collapsed archway in the Hall of the Flesh Eaters. Recovered the orb of stars from beyond the cave-in. Returned to the Grinning Pixie post-haste. <map of the first Gloomspire level, measurements exact>
