A faint pulse of light surrounds Solrisa, and for a moment it looks as if the maiden will slip her biting bonds. Sadly, the weasel seems to sense it as well, and it shifts its head forward, keeping Solrisa firmly between its teeth.
Raella tries to take advantage of the weasel's occupied maw, and darts underneath its matted fur.

Raella tries and fails to find the weasel's flank. Ascaria tries and fails to free the maiden from the maw. Mortimer takes advantage of the rodent's repositioning to roll under and bound to his feet, just in time to plant a foot across its back, breaking it.
Solrisa is freed from the vicious animal's grasp, and Tynan's blade, although raised, is no longer needed against the large creature.
Solrisa and Tynan may finish the round with new actions.

He stops rubbing his neck and pulls away from the wall angrily looking down at the broken and dead weasel.
Jerk.
He shifts his gaze toward Tynan in front of the forked corridors.
That's about as far as I got.
"Tynan, what was that you said? A bird on the run? Did it use the secret door? I'm pretty sure there's one down one of those corridors. Maybe we could defeat their plan if we found it..."

Ascaria continues to funnel strength and healing to Sol* as he sees Mort deftly dodge the weasel and end its pitiful reign.
Concerned about time, he suggests, ”I can help Sol and Mort, but I need a minute. Shall we huddle?”
He quickly channels energy to heal their superficial wounds. He does not heal the weasels or any visible birdbrains.

If we at all can wait, Ascaria can cast a couple Lesser Restorations to take the edge off. It takes three full rounds to cast each one however…

Rae moves up, calling out to Garras in hopes of drawing him out.

"Seriously, BirdBoob Master. Why don't you come out and find out just how many of us are left?" he calls out as he passes Tynan, trying to direct his voice down the fork toward which Raella isn't heading.

Mortimer reluctantly averts his eyes from Solrisa, remembering the sting Raella tattooed him with the last time the subject of Sol's nape was mentioned. He coughs politely at the word "longshoreman", then temporarily avoids making eye contact with anyone altogether.
I really need to focus. I really wish I felt more... energetic, like I did before that damned Weasel grabbed me.

Raella moves towards the east, hoping to engage the enemy. Ascaria calls for a huddle, healing all but the blood loss. Mortimer calls to the darkness, inviting it in. Tynan hovers over the gnome like a smoker shielding his cigar from a harsh wind. Solrisa readies to attack what Mortimer summons. Pillette does the same, setting to fire upon anything that resembles crow.
As soon as the huddle forms, a secret door behind Ascaria opens up, revealing a birdman, who proceeds to attack the radiant gnome. It fails to adjust its thrust for the height of its target.
Rapier: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10 for 1d6 ⇒ 1 damage
In response to Raella, a birdman presents itself at the end of the corridor. In its hand, a glass vial.
Alchemist's Fire: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13 for 1d6 ⇒ 2 damage, Reflex Save DC 15 to extinguish flames, full round action, or suffer 1d6 fire damage next round
The birdman calls out to Raella, then looks over its left shoulder.
Garras: "You burn easily enough. They're still up, friends."
It reverts to a staccato caw, wordless communication, which is echoed by the birdman at Ascaria's back, and several further to the east.

Round 17, Init 9
Mortimer starts as the secret door opens revealing a birdman. As Ascaria moves out of the space just in front of it, he shifts his weight to face the ridiculous creature. However, before he can ambulate toward it to swing:
[Ascaria] turns to Mort and his injuries and begins to knead his frame, pushing here, prodding there, all the while mumbling arcane phrases under his breath. "Mort, don't leave my side while I do this," he commands softly.
Mortimer becomes aware, vaguely at first, of the gnome's hands and feet digging into his back and sides as the diminutive humanoid scales him like a climber on Iron Peaks. He begins a protest, but as the gnome continues to push healing magics into his core he slowly succumbs to the pleasantly refreshing sensation and sinks to his knees, eventually sitting on the stone floor completely.
Eyes closed, the graceful sound of steel cutting through fowl registers in Mortimer's brain, and he feels Life leave the cursed creature.
"Oh Rae look! I got another!"
"Nice hit, Sol." he says calmly.
Eyes still closed, he catches a whiff of singed herb oil infused hair. In an equally calm tone, he asks, "Could someone please help put out Raella?"
He imagines being linked to everyone around him, feeling their lifeforces tied to his, aware of all their pains. He imagines trying to push some of the healing magics flowing through him out toward them.
Everyone needs some of this.

Round 17, Init 8+
Once again seeing a secret door open to reveal yet ANOTHER birdman, Tynan takes a moment to size it, and the situation, up quickly. As Canary moves to tend to Mort, Tynan takes a step forward, imposing himself between bird and gnome. Tynan lashes out with sword and dagger, seeking to end the feathered foe before it can make another attack against the healer.

Raella successfully puts herself out. Ascaria begins a slow, slow mend on Mortimer. Tynan injures the birdman that appears in their midst. Solrisa mists the birdman, finishing it off. Pillette moves up to defend Mortimer from attacks down the hall.

Her readied action takes down another birdman down the right branch of the hall.
The birdman who recently burned Raella sidesteps, and fires its crossbow at her. The narrow ways prevent it from hitting her squarely.

The death caw seems to bring another to take its place. This one seems to be armed with something different- a wand. Pillette is struck hard by a glowing green fist that darts from the wand.

Ascaria looses sight and attention of the world around him as he delves deep into Mort’s musculature. He is appreciative that the large man sat down so he didn’t have to climb so much. Oh, there’s a knot! he jumps in the air to get the right angle and leverage, sliding down the big mans back as he works the large mans frame.

Mort straightens his spine and begins to feel his body float up off the ground.

The Fire out, Rae moves back into position to protect Ascaria, and hopefully brain any birdman that thinks to come near.

Raella returns to the fold. Ascaria continues the slow, slow mend on Mortimer. Tynan readies a swing should another birdman appear nearby. Solrisa soundly strikes a birdman, but fails to clip its wing permanently. Pillette maintains her ground, firing down the hall to make way for Solrisa's advance. She delays for the creature's inevitable retreat from the gleaming woman.
The wand-wielding birdman squawks in pain, and sees no reason to stay. It soars back down the hall, ducking around another, more able-looking birdman, who seems to be waiting for the way to be clear.
It reaches for its neck, snapping a small glass bauble from a necklace. As soon as it comes free of its attachment, it begins to glow like an ember. The birdman tosses it down the hall, and the corridor lights in reddish-orange flames.
Thrown Sphere: 1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (10) + 7 - 4 = 13 for 3d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 6) = 11 damage, DC 14 Reflex Save for half damage
Raella, Pillette, and Solrisa all receive the glorious flame.

Garras: "Burn, you burn well, you do. There's more where that came from. Are you sure you want to continue?"
Pillette takes her cue from the aggressive burn to fire at the creature. Her bolt strikes off its shoulder, but does not penetrate.

The north crow takes its own shot at Raella, content with its attacks from a distance. It does not sound content with its results, as it caws angrily when the woman is not struck.

(As I see it, I’ll be done at the beginning of my initiative next round.)

Mortimer stops meditating as he becomes aware of an expanding sphere of flame in the hallway near him and the hint of singed hair in the air again. He opens one eye and uses it to look toward the conflagration. He closes it and opens the other eye and checks the hall again.
Looks the same... bad. That should be me there -- in it... He begins to feel pangs of guilt.
He closes his eye.

Mortimer opens his eyes. "Hurry and finish, Ascaria! Let me at 'em! There's only about three -- " he's abruptly cut off by Rae's War Cry, " -- maybe two? left... They're trying to burn our friends who need your attention!" He starts fidgeting a bit, seemingly impatiently, but mostly to herd Ascaria's Magic Fingers more to his left until Ascaria's casting is complete.

Raella streaks forward like a dying meteorite, swinging strongly at the birdman. Something glimmers against her blade, and she finds no purchase. Ascaria works towards completion of his healing art on Mortimer. Tynan holds position, observing the odd couple finishing its ritual. Solrisa has as much luck as her sister to the north, the birdman almost smiling when it sees a sheen wave off the maiden's blade.
It caws, pausing only moments to draw its rapier, as another birdman slips from a secret door behind Solrisa, and into flank with the firestarter.

He scowls slightly, side glancing at Ascaria, then quickly looks himself over. Finding everything intact and to his satisfaction, his trust is restored and he grins broadly at the gnome. "Much appreciated, Canary! Thanks!" He bounds off in the direction of Raella's voice.

The firestarter snaps yet another sphere from its necklace, and tosses it across the hall! Ascaria, Pillette, Solrisa, and Tynan are engulfed in the exploding burst of fire.

Raella feels the heat of the hallways, as the fire waxes, then wanes. She bolts to her sister's side, finding her currently part of a bottleneck. She launches herself through, hoping to find the other side of the firestarter. And she succeeds! She slips into flank with Solrisa.

Meanwhile, Ascaria solicits the demise of the firestarter, and heals those around him in response to recent ignitions. Mortimer joins the fray, stepping up behind the maiden, looking to make his way through the bottleneck as well. Yet again, another tumbler finds his way past the imposing birdman, and into the fray.

Tynan braces for the inevitable burn. Solrisa maintains her position, boldly swinging on the firestarter, though her swing goes wide as her sister bumps into her while passing.
Now surrounded, the two birdmen change tactics. The firestarter caws at the wand-waver. "Go, tell them we couldn't hold our position."
The wand-waver retreats. ...provoking attacks of opportunity from both Raella and Mortimer. When the second birdman is either gone or dead, the firestarter tries to finish what he... started. He speaks as a she.
Kendra: "See that none of them live...or you won't."
The birdman reaches for the necklace a final time, and drops the sphere at Raella's feet. "All praise Urgathoa..."
Dropped Sphere: 5d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 4, 5, 1) = 15 DC 14 Reflex Save for half damage- I think I manage to get Mortimer, Raella, Solrisa, and Tynan in the blast radius from that gridpoint...
