Most of you see a lone woman dressed in black leather with a wide-brimmed hat stroll up to the town square. "How many of you are there... Seven?" She sniffs the air. "One combat animal as well... You should make fine pets."
As soon as she finishes speaking, the windows to the building with Faraz burst and two creatures burst in through the windows. One quickly circles around Faraz and the other stands in the doorway.
Another pair of creatures descends from the rooftops to flank Desmond in the alley.

GM Bold Strider |

The effect on Halbarad isn't a spell, thus Dispel Magic would not work. Terrill, the character, would know that the vampire's Dominate ability is innate and not spell-like, thus he would know that Dispel Magic wouldn't effect it (Because of your knowledge check). You can retcon your actions.

Oh! Also! I handed my scroll of remove paralysis to Terrill for safekeeping two adventures ago with the intention for him to hang on to it "in case of emergencies" (because he can actually cast it without UMD), so if Bold is alright with it then Terrill may in fact have something to help Desmond or Faraz. Nothing to help me though. :P

![]() |

Thanks for the retcon, DM, very fair of you. And thanks for the brilliant recollection out of nowhere, Hal! It would make sense that Hal would continue to expect Terrill to carry the scroll, so I'm going to go with that.
And yes, per the description of dominate person, Hal gets another save at +2 if forced to take an action against his nature.
With the long-tongued vampire fled, and Desmond frozen in place, Terrill recalls something Hal gave him when they first set out together. He pulls a scroll from his belt pouch, takes a step toward Desmond, and activates its magic, restoring his mobility.
Five-foot step to Desmond, move action to draw scroll, standard action to cast remove paralysis from it.

![]() |

Is it against the nature of a vain, haughty, elitist, and somewhat racist elf with special training in killing humans to shoot a Chelaxian? :)
Jest aside, it would be against Hal's nature to get into a fight with another Pathfinder per "Explore, Report, Cooperate." And I suppose that given his special training in killing undead, it would be against his nature to serve a vampire, too.
[ooc]Only slight changes to my actions are necessary. Hal directs his bird directly north 5 feet from his original position and shoots at the vampire with silver arrows. With the elimination of the nonlethal penalty and the reduction of the favored enemy bonus to +2, the rolls end up as follows:
Manyshot: 16 + 4 - 2 = 18
Damage, Magic/Silver: 2d6 + 4 + 6 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (6, 3) + 4 + 6 + 1 + 2 = 22

Undead things caring less for life than they did before their own deaths, mohrgs exist solely to wreak havoc on the living. Sometimes mistaken for skeletons or zombies, they are far more dangerous than those mindless abominations, retaining some semblance of their own memories—and the delight they once took in hearing the screams of the dying.
They like to paralyze their prey with their saliva to exact as much pain and suffering on their targets as possible, while their claws grip their still writhing foes with ease.

And Terrill is still an ally, and Hal knows that.
