Dungeon Master S |
The Rakshasa opts to NOT take the AoO, and Morkeleb, he's not casting spells now!
Sandor, you swing twice and miss.
Odric the Stout |
Round 2 readied action
Charge: Power Attack (Furious Focus) with The Eagle: 1d20 + 12 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 12 + 2 + 1 = 20 for 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8 damage.
1d100 ⇒ 46
Extra attack
Power Attack (Furious Focus) with The Eagle: 1d20 + 12 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 12 + 2 + 1 = 34 for 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8 damage.
1d100 ⇒ 54
Round 3
Power Attack (Furious Focus) with The Eagle: 1d20 + 12 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 12 + 2 + 1 = 29 for 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8 damage.
1d100 ⇒ 5
Extra attack: Power Attack (Furious Focus) with The Eagle: 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 7 + 2 + 1 = 28 for 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13 damage.
1d100 ⇒ 37
Sorry guys no prose. Phone only till friday.
Power Attack (Furious Focus) with The Eagle: 1d20 + 12 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 12 + 2 + 1 = 24 for 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12 damage.
1d100 ⇒ 19
Dungeon Master S |
Agreed. Too complicated to sort out on my phone. I'll get back to my PC late tonight, but if someone else can sort through, feel free to post.
Morkeleb the Mighty |
The Rakshasa opts to NOT take the AoO, and Morkeleb, he's not casting spells now!
Point of order: after his foiled Shield spell, my plan was to ready an action to counterspell again. You're telling me now that he's not going to cast anything next round, or what?? Because, you know, that's just kind of weird.

Yeah! Mork gets a free lightning bolt to zap the baddie. (Im pretty sure thats in the rulebook somewhere...)
Gaius Lirsiiv |
Looks like... Morkeleb had a readied Counterspell and then took his Round 3 action.
Then... A couple of others took readied Round 3 actions, yes?
So Gaius is up. My conditions for my round 2 ready were not met so I effectively lose it. It's now my Round 3.
Unless someone else had some Round 3 Readied Action to do? Am I clear to act for Rd 3?
Morkeleb the Mighty |
Yeah! Mork gets a free lightning bolt to zap the baddie. (Im pretty sure thats in the rulebook somewhere...)
Yeah, yeah...and I get an automatic successful spell penetration...yeah, that's it...
Dungeon Master S |
Well Morkeleb, the highly intelligent baddie knows he got counterspelled. It's time for a change of tactics.... just saying.
Gaius, take round 3.
Morkeleb the Mighty |
Since there's a limited number of options I can take (he's got high SR and I have very few buffing spells), Morkeleb will continue to keep the beastie's spellcasting capabilities stifled by prepping to counterspell.
Dungeon Master S |
Bear.... Bear? Bear strength? Do you need assistance?
Morkeleb the Mighty |
Bear strength?
You mean Bull's Strength. :-) I'll get to that. Morkeleb is making a bit of a calculation here: there's more benefit in trying to force the Rakshasa into revealing himself, than to give him an excuse to NOT do so (by giving him more options). If Morkeleb casts a spell before he's visible, he's free to cast one with impunity--and, the benefit Odric gets from Bull's STrength is curtailed by your inability to see the blighter.
Ferox Kerr |
Round 4
Ferox stands his ground, not wanting to give the rakshasa an opening to slip out of the room. He steadiws his bow and fires flaming arrows at the space in front of him, point blank.
Arrow: 1d20 + 10 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 2 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 10 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 2 - 2 - 2 = 29
Damage: 1d8 + 2 + 1 + 4 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + 2 + 1 + 4 + (5) = 15
Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 89
Arrow: 1d20 + 10 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 2 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 10 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 2 - 2 - 2 = 29
Damage: 1d8 + 2 + 1 + 4 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + 2 + 1 + 4 + (1) = 11
Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 95
Arrow: 1d20 + 10 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 2 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 10 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 2 - 2 - 2 = 30
Damage: 1d8 + 2 + 1 + 4 + 1d6 ⇒ (6) + 2 + 1 + 4 + (1) = 14
Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 30
Dungeon Master S |
Okay, so going forward (and at my table always) you want to roll high for success, so it's 51% or better to hit with total concealment. Also, I'm totally lost on the initiative order with the readied actions and what not. So, I'm going to pick it up on bad guys next turn. Odric and Ferox both connect, unfortunately, none of their weapons damage the otherwordly being. The hits just aren't hard enough nor the right tools for the job. The creature then appears, dropping the invisibility in favor of combat:
With a blurringly fast assault, the beast unleashes. Three slashes of a khukri flash across Morkeleb's abdomen:
1d20 + 17 ⇒ (15) + 17 = 32 THREAT
1d20 + 17 ⇒ (10) + 17 = 27 Confirm DMG: 2d4 + 8 ⇒ (1, 3) + 8 = 12
1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22 Hit! DMG: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
1d20 + 17 ⇒ (20) + 17 = 37 THREAT
1d20 + 17 ⇒ (18) + 17 = 35 Confirm DMG: 2d4 + 8 ⇒ (2, 4) + 8 = 14
And when Ferox least expects it, a bite and a clow across his face.
Claw: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22 DMG: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Bite: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22 DMG: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Good guys.
Thorgrym the Tracker |
Round 4 Team Ranger
The broaded headed dog lunges forward and bites at the tiger headed beastie.
Power attack 1d20 + 10 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (16) + 10 + 1 - 1 = 26
Bite 1d8 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 5 + 2 = 14
Extra hasted attack 1d20 + 10 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (5) + 10 + 1 - 1 = 15
Bite 1d8 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 5 + 2 = 11
The ranger moves around physically bumps Morkeleb back out of the way. Thorgrym puts himself in front of the super dangerous tiger beastie.
Grym has mobility vrs the rakshasa's AoOs
The ranger strikes out with hasted speed, thrusting with dagger and svord.
Attack 1d20 + 11 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 11 - 2 + 1 = 11
Svord 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Attack 1d20 + 12 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 12 - 2 + 1 = 24
Shark Slayer 1d4 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 2 = 10
Gaius Lirsiiv |
Adam, check your attack math. Your last couple of rounds don't look correct.
Chris, I think if you swap Baddies and Morkeleb, we should be set for init. Or close enough to just call that good, anyway.
Dungeon Master S |
Okay, based on Tony's suggestion, here's the order (top name doesn't matter as its cyclical.) Baddie went. Gaius is first.
Bad: DONE
Gaius: Current
Ferox: TBD
Odric: TBD
Grym & Bucho: ATTACK
Sandor: GRAPPLE
Mork: TBD
Ferox Kerr |
Ferox was at the top of the order and did not ready an action. So, he should still be first in the round, making this round 5? And Sandor is actively grappling him?
Round 5
Protection from Evil: +2 AC, +2 Saves
Haste: +1 attack, +1 AC and Ref. Save, +1 Attack w/ Full Attack
Judgement - Destruction: +3 damage
AC: 23, Fort: +8, Ref: +10, Will: +10
Ferox's enhanced reflexes and magical protection shields him from the assault by the rakshasa.
Ferox alters his Judgement to Destruction, hoping that the added might behind his arrow will penetrate the creature's defenses. Standing his ground, he shoots another three arrows into the rakshasa.
Arrow: 1d20 + 10 + 1 + 1 + 2 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 10 + 1 + 1 + 2 - 2 - 2 = 20
Damage: 1d8 + 2 + 1 + 4 + 3 + 1d6 ⇒ (6) + 2 + 1 + 4 + 3 + (4) = 20
Arrow: 1d20 + 10 + 1 + 1 + 2 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 10 + 1 + 1 + 2 - 2 - 2 = 30
Damage: 1d8 + 2 + 1 + 4 + 3 + 1d6 ⇒ (6) + 2 + 1 + 4 + 3 + (3) = 19
Arrow: 1d20 + 10 + 1 + 1 + 2 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 10 + 1 + 1 + 2 - 2 - 2 = 29
Damage: 1d8 + 2 + 1 + 4 + 3 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + 2 + 1 + 4 + 3 + (5) = 18
Ferox Kerr |
Confirm Crit: 1d20 + 10 + 1 + 1 + 2 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 10 + 1 + 1 + 2 - 2 - 2 = 15
Crit Damage: 2d8 + 20 + 2d10 ⇒ (3, 8) + 20 + (5, 2) = 38
BOOO!!
Dungeon Master S |
No. I'm "resetting the clock" because it's so confusing now. Ferox tags the rakshasa with a pair of arrows. It's first blood from the beast - not much bu some. And now he's mad.... and focused.
Odric!
Call it Round 4:
Bad: DONE
Gaius: Drank a potion
Ferox: Attacks and damages
Odric: TBD
Grym & Bucho: WILL ATTACK (numbers posted)
Sandor: WILL GRAPPLE (numbers posted)
Mork: TBD
Rakshasa: 7
Ferox Kerr |
Ferox! Can you make your arrows Good??
I wish!
Morkeleb the Mighty |
dammit, you don't have Bless Weapon? Well, shoot. No pun intended.
Since my actions will not affect anyone...
ROUND 4
Bleeding profusely from all three wounds, Morkeleb staggers a bit. He flicks his wrist, producing a wand, which he touches to himself and immediately vanishes from sight.
Swift action to draw Invisibility wand via wrist sheath; standard to cast it on self. Then move into the room (moved pog)
Not sure whether Gaius was planning to heal him, Morkeleb whispers to him on the way by...I'm moving to the other side of Odric. Oh, and I have alchemist's fire
Odric the Stout |
Round X
Odric drops The Eagle with a clang and cringes. He whips out the Kegerator and hacks at the foe.
Power Attack (Furious Focus) with MW Keen Falchion +1: 1d20 + 14 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 14 + 2 + 1 = 24 for 2d4 + 10 + 6 ⇒ (1, 1) + 10 + 6 = 18 damage.
Extra Attack: Power Attack (Furious Focus) with MW Keen Falchion +1: 1d20 + 14 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 14 + 2 + 1 = 30 for 2d4 + 10 + 6 ⇒ (4, 1) + 10 + 6 = 21 damage.
Dungeon Master S |
Odric lays in with all he's got, and manages to draw blood, albeit little. Grym and Bucho follow suit, but none of the hits cause damage. That's when Sandor moves in for a different approach, just barely the Rakshasa steps aside, avoiding the grab and takes an attack of opportunity on Sandor. Kukri: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (20) + 17 = 37 Confirm: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (8) + 17 = 25, but only connects a bit DMG: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5.
The foe slide to the side and opens up on Ferox, the softest looking target in range:
Kukri 1: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (14) + 17 = 31 DMG: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Kukri 2: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32
Kukri 2 Confirmation: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13 DMG: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Kukri 3: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (4) + 17 = 21 (Miss on account of Haste)
Bite: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15 Miss
Bite: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18 Miss
Bad: DONE
Gaius: Current
Ferox: TBD
Odric: TBD
Grym & Bucho: TBD
Sandor: TBD
Mork: TBD
Rakshasa: 13
Odric the Stout |
Round X+1
Power Attack (Furious Focus) with MW Keen Falchion +1: 1d20 + 14 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 14 + 1 + 2 = 32 for 2d4 + 10 + 6 ⇒ (3, 3) + 10 + 6 = 22 damage.
Power Attack (Furious Focus) with MW Keen Falchion +1: 1d20 + 9 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 9 + 2 + 1 = 30 for 2d4 + 10 + 6 ⇒ (1, 4) + 10 + 6 = 21 damage.
Power Attack (Furious Focus) with MW Keen Falchion +1: 1d20 + 14 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 14 + 2 + 1 = 35 for 2d4 + 10 + 6 ⇒ (1, 1) + 10 + 6 = 18 damage.
Odric goes bananas.
Confirmations :-D
Power Attack (Furious Focus) with MW Keen Falchion +1: 1d20 + 14 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 14 + 1 + 2 = 32 for 2d4 + 10 + 6 ⇒ (1, 3) + 10 + 6 = 20 damage. Total - 42
Power Attack (Furious Focus) with MW Keen Falchion +1: 1d20 + 9 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 9 + 2 + 1 = 15 for 2d4 + 10 + 6 ⇒ (2, 1) + 10 + 6 = 19 damage. Total - 21
Power Attack (Furious Focus) with MW Keen Falchion +1: 1d20 + 14 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 14 + 2 + 1 = 36 for 2d4 + 10 + 6 ⇒ (3, 4) + 10 + 6 = 23 damage. Total - 41
Morkeleb the Mighty |
Oh, very nice!! We need that, and more, so...
Odric hears a whisper from an unseen mouth...Odric, let me bolster you before you strike again!
In other words, delay until after Morkeleb goes, please!
ROUND 5
Morkeleb casts a spell, and Odric feels invisible hands on his shoulders. A brief smoke-like visage of a bull appears over Odric's head, the smoke then issuing down into his being and infusing his limbs with greater strength!
Cast Bull's Strength on Odric, then move away. Next intention is to counterspell again...
Thorgrym the Tracker |
Round 5?
Frustrated with his lack of progress killing the tiger beastie, Thorgrym drops his svord (but keeps his shark slayer ready in his offhand), and pulls out a glass bottle of water blessed by Sarenrae. Though not overly religious the ranger gives the bottle a quick kiss and hurls it at the beastie hoping for the best.
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25
Holy Water honestly not sure about damage if it does work, will trust dm to roll damage for me if it works
Bucho the pittbull is as tenacious as a... um... pittbull. The dog keeps biting away trying to hamstring the tiger beastie.
Power attack 1 1d20 + 10 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (2) + 10 + 1 - 1 = 12
bite 1d8 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 5 + 2 = 14
Power attack 2 1d20 + 10 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (12) + 10 + 1 - 1 = 22
bite 1d8 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 5 + 2 = 13
Sandor Stouthammer |
Round X+1
Sandor seeing the beasts incredible quickness and hard to hit nature slides right in front of Ferox as the beast lashed out taking a hit on his sheild.
Abandoning his attempts to grapple the creature, Sandor quickly closes the doors trapping the beast inside. Pressing his back up against the door to hold them closed.
Move outside I will take 1 or 2 AoO's if he has Combat reflexes. Second move action Shut the door
Dungeon Master S |
Round Refresh:
Bad: DONE
Gaius: Current
Ferox: TBD
Odric: Going to go bananas
Grym & Bucho: Will throw holy water, etc.
Sandor: Will shut the door
Mork: TBD
Gaius Lirsiiv |
Ooc-Not sure if Gaius can cast bless but if he blessed The Eagle that would be best.
Sandor asked that as well, so I'll answer. I think you guys are thinking of Bless Weapon, a Paladin spell (Not on my spell list) that would be OMG INCREDIBLY HANDY RIGHT ABOUT NOW. Bless which is on my spell list and prepared will not help us beyond an additional +1 to hit, and it can't be cast upon weapons.
Gaius Lirsiiv |
Gaius sheathes his weapons and holds his arms apart... He speaks loudly and boldly.
OH MIGHTY ONE! FORGIVE US THIS INSOLENT INTRUSION! MERCY, GREAT ONE! WE BEG OF YOU... MERRRRRRRRCY! LET US BARGAIN FOR OUR PITIFUL LIVES!
He falls to his knees and grovels, making a big show of it for all in the room. There is bowing and scraping. Maybe the others will rethink their actions for this round.
Ferox Kerr |
Round 5
Protection from Evil: +2 AC, +2 Saves
Haste: +1 attack, +1 AC and Ref. Save, +1 Attack w/ Full Attack
Judgement - Destruction: +3 damage
AC: 23, Fort: +8, Ref: +10, Will: +10
Unsure of Gaius's plan, Ferox backs away to see how this plays out.
Ferox withdraws and casts Cure Light Wounds on himself.
CLW: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Dungeon Master S |
I'll give you guys a chance to rescind. If nothing after a bit of time I'll resolve as posted. Gaius.... give me a Bluff check.
Dungeon Master S |
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (11) + 14 = 25
Gaius's life or death gambit pays off. The Rakshasa turns and looks. His hubris leads him to believe the lie for a fraction of an instant. But that is all a group of battle tested adventurers need. The creature lowers its guard to accept the genuflection just long enough...
This occurs before many of the posted actions.
AoOs from Sandor, Gaius, and Odric (Gaius only if you have quickdraw since your weapon being sheathed is part of the act.) The beast is flatflooted until his next turn.
Ferox uses the moment to cure some of his wounds. Odric goes BANANAS, absolutely bananas. Two critical hits and a single regular hit. Uncaring of the mystically resilient beast Odric starts to flay his foe. The newly opened wounds are splashed with Holy water for DMG: 2d4 ⇒ (1, 3) = 4 damage. Sandor then closes the beast in.
Resolve AoOs, then Morkeleb, then it's turn.
Rakshasa: 85
Dungeon Master S |
Yeah, morale is pretty clear for this guy, but I couldn't let that move go to waste.
Odric the Stout |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Rond the X+1 AoO
Odric's massive slashes with the Kegerator still ring in the still, smoky air as the room falls to silence after Gaius' pronouncement. Without so much as a flicker of an eyelid and with no thought other than the annihilation of his enemy Odric seizes on the lull to execute a jumping spinning reverse slash to the Rakshasa. The Kegerator blurs through the air and connects with the creature's shoulder.
In a ridiculous falsetto, Odric shrills, Oh! We surrender! We surrender! You're so good… at BLEEDING ALL OVER THE PLACE! the gleeful warrior finishes.
Power Attack (Furious Focus) with MW Keen Falchion +1: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (15) + 14 = 29 for 2d4 + 10 + 6 ⇒ (3, 4) + 10 + 6 = 23 damage.
Confirm: Power Attack (Furious Focus) with MW Keen Falchion +1: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (20) + 14 = 34 for 2d4 + 10 + 6 ⇒ (3, 3) + 10 + 6 = 22 damage.
I love this game. Brilliantly executed all!
As Morkeleb's hand brushes Odric's shoulder, the already hulking fighter nearly bursts the seams of his armor. His shoulders and pectorals seem to dwell up to nearly an inhuman degree of swollen-ness. Feeling the magical power pulse through him Odric marvels, I have the energy of a bear that has the energy of two bears!
Dungeon Master S |
Odric's dazzling display of meat grinding is just what the party needed. The distraction provided for by Gaius last but a second, but it resulted in utter devastation for the rakshasa. The decapitated beast falls to the floor.
We are, finally, out of initiative.
