    Round 2

The brindle dog alternates between growling and then whimpering slightly and spinning around trying to figure out what is causing the pain.

Thorgrym is slightly surprised at the viscious counter attack the crazy tiger thing made last round. Some of the hurts were made less by the Calistrian Rogue's quick healing spell.
Bolstered by the healing the ranger gets back into the fight. Shoulder to shoulder with Odric Grym lays in with both blades.

    Main attack (power) 1d20 + 12 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 12 - 2 = 22
    Svord 1d6 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 4 = 12

    Off hand power attack 1d20 + 13 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 13 - 2 = 30
    Shark Slayer 1d4 + 4 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 2 + 4 = 12

    2nd attack 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
    Svord 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

    Confirming crit for offhand attack
    1d20 + 13 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 13 - 2 = 30
    Extra damage 1d4 + 4 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 2 + 4 = 12

Thorgrym set up an exceptionally powerful thrust with his dagger.

the reason for the "hah" was that I'd forgotten the "d" on "d20" and it came up as a 20, so I thought it was a crit. When I corrected and added the 'd' I forgot to remove the "hah" when it wasn't a 20. D'oh.

    Odric: HIT
    Grym*: Hit
    Morkeleb: ineffectual
    Baddies: RAWR
    Gaius: Readies
    DeGrog: Double moves

    Round 2 Recap:

Ferox focuses and lands an arrow on target breaking off a row of well-preserved teeth. The second arrow goes wide, but the damage is done. Odric continues his furious thrashing. The creature has no true anatomy, so his hits don't seem to be extra amazing, but still, they damage the thing pretty severely. Grym similarly lays into the thing, chipping away. As he pulls his dagger out the "wound" is filled with arcane acid, melting away the preserved flesh.

    oops:
so, i had originally posted my round 2 action as reading off a scroll of Scorching Ray for 9 points of fire damage. i then posted round 2 action again as throwing a flask of acid. I'll assume that Chris' "ineffectual" comment on my round 2 action was in response to the acid, and that I still have the scroll to read off. Given that--chris, can you tell me whether Morkeleb thinks fire might work here better than acid, considering the 25+ know:Arcana roll earlier?

MAP TEMPLATES | Social Combat | War for the Crown | Campaign Tracker |

That was my mistake. The ineffectual was from the magic missile before, and I didn't retype the acid. You have the scroll, and the acid damage worked just fine.

    The beasts heads unleash:

    Against Odric:
    Bite 1: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (16) + 20 = 36 DMG: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (1, 1) + 7 = 9
    Bite 2: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (2) + 20 = 22 DMG: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (4, 6) + 7 = 17

    Bite 4: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (8) + 20 = 28 DMG: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (5, 6) + 7 = 18

If Gaius backs up after taking and action:
DeGrog drops his trident, draws Salt Reaver, and takes a five ft. step into the square behind Odric and Grym.
Pardon me, me Groggies! DeGrog smirks while his ship mast-like legs take him into a full lunge, Cutlass flashing in between Odric's attacks. Odric wonders where this third arm of his came from as Salt Reaver weaves in and out, tickling some of the tiger heads' whiskers.
Lunge, +5' reach, -2 AC until next turn.

My reasonin fer this assumption is tha the owners of this maze havta 'have a way ta move around it wit out so much danger, 'n we didn't find any key or magic device on the tigerman.

I guess wha I'm tryin ta say is lets not be in a hurry take our time a bit, ya I know we're here ta rescue Vencarlo, but the man knew he was still alive down here so apparently he has some way of monitoring him/us. Morkelb what's the easiest way of doin that? Ohh we also know he wants Vencarlo, and the Senechal alive I can't say that he wants that for us. Just think about it fer a second

Morkeleb, what is that clunky black piece of metal I see poking out of your backpack? It looks heavy.

By Gorum's Glorious Grundle! What is that?!?!

    Wow! Thanks!

Grym, please watch my back, Sandor can you give me a hand with this?

Six minutes later, Odric stands beaming, his first set of full plate armor fits him perfectly, the enchantment wrapping the steel around his musculature like it were Gaius' stretchy party pants.

The glossy armor sports a prominent silver hourglass on the breastplate, which is stylized and has a buffed satin shine to it. The effect is striking. Over all, Odric straps his trusty war kilt and belts on his girdle of giant strength to complete the ensemble. Weapons, pouches, packs are all shifted accordingly, and the gigantic warrior practices drawing and sheathing all of his various weaponry in rapid succession.

The ranger and his dog smoothly assume guard duty. Bucho to the north of the room, Thorgrym to the south. The ranger idly snaps his magical dagger out and smoothly transitions back and forth from hand to hand.
Grym's mind starts to waunder down the trail of Odric's odd sayings. Gorum's Grundle always seemed strange enough. Gorum's "Glorious" Grundle was a little too over the top. "What would make a grundle glorious?..."
Before letting his imagination start to horrify him he stopped that train of thought and simply decided that nothing would make THAT glorious. His first thought of something glorious reminded him of a beautiful painting of Sarenrae, The Dawn Flower. His favorite interpretation was a painting he had seen once in one of the back rooms at the temple rarely seen by those who were not initiates. His old mentor had shown it to him. It showed the goddess bathed in the fiery morning sun, holding a blazing curved svord. Probably what he found most intriguing about it (other then the magnificent blade), was her very full bosum and well rounded hips clad in the flimsiest of robes...
Quietly he said to himself, The DawnFlower's double D's. Upon hearing it, he decided against it. He wasnt the most reverent person but he didnt feel right saying that. He would have to come up with something better.

Sandor locates and uses the door's hidden switch. A section of the wall recedes into itself and exposes a room to the east.. A ten-foot-wide, two-foot-tall well rises from the center of this circular room. Inky water fills the well nearly to its rim, obscuring its depths. A stone statue of a rearing snake rises from the center of the well. Along the length of the serpent’s body are carved dozens of arms crossed over the creature’s belly—each arm grips a long curved blade. The statue’s serpentine head rises ten feet above the surface of the water, gazing down coolly to the northeast with amethyst eyes.
