two more pulls to bring back to the start. Load up Donkeyhorse as well as Sandor, Ferox and Gaius, leaving Morkeleb with Grym, Bucho and Morkeleb.
Odric will then ferry the group to the eastern opening and repeat the process for the remainder until everyone and all beasts are in the eastern hallway.
We didn't get the result of the second pool inspection..
Perception roll for DeGrog - 1d20 ⇒ 3 <-LOL sorry Reagh. I guess DeGrog is still degroggy from his imprisonment.
DeGrog Coarse-Hair
Groggy indeed,
eh, lads, far be it for me to say, but if someone rotates the room while we're gone, we'll be trapped - unless ye know for sure that onward will lead us out. P'raps we ought to check out those dummy pool alcoves for hidden mechanisms just to be sure. Where's that canny Dwarf? Or maybe the wizard can conjure up some solution.

now this is awesome. this piece is figured out, but this wouldn't be an epic labrynth if the 4 pieces didn't rotate too.
Check to see that the opening here lines up every 4 turns with the one that it should line up with. Making sure to mark each on with either my or Odric's chalk.

Perception roll for DeGrog - 1d20 <-LOL sorry Reagh. I guess DeGrog is still degroggy from his imprisonment.
Grym and Bucho step in to take over checking out the room. The ranger politely doesnt say anything about Degrog's perceptive capabilities. He hopes the half orc is much better at fighting.
Thorgrym's perception 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26
Bucho's scent perception 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (17) + 16 = 33
Team ranger go along with Odric's reasoning about the rotating room.
Dungeon Master S
As the cramped party exits into this room the entire floor flashes with an arcane symbol. It erupts into a pale light bathing everyone in the room. Will Saves for everyone, DC 20.
Dungeon Master S
Negative, but it is a Pain effect.
Dungeon Master S
Failing the save results in suffering wracking pains that impose a –4 penalty on attack rolls, skill checks, and ability checks. This continues while you are in the room, and 1 hour after.

Team Ranger
Thorgrym 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Bucho 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
The ranger grits he teeth and takes a second to focus. The pain slowly fades into the background. Grym tries to sooth Bucho but the simple minded dog doesnt understand why he is feeling pain.
Gaius Lirsiiv
Negative, but it is a Pain effect.
Exquisite.
Save Vs. Pain:1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
Oh Hell.
Gaius crumples to the floor and seems to be having some kind of seizure. Regarless, a creepy grin is spread across his face.
Dungeon Master S
Both doors are silent, but the pain Bucho is experiencing is making it hard to focus.
Thorgrym the Tracker
Feeling the party has to keep moving (or at least get out of the pain room), the ranger opens the southern door. Blade in hand he enters... (Unless there is no floor, then he doesnt).
Morkeleb the Mighty
Will: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Morkeleb concentrates briefly, trying to find a way through the arcane-created pain...but fails. He grips his staff tightly enough to whiten knuckles, and breaths hard and fast, trying to block it out.
Thorgrym the Tracker
While his comrades are distracted with the pain, Grym flows into the room. Blades out and senses heightened the ranger checks out the room.
Perception 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31
Dungeon Master S
Both walls of this twenty-foot-long corridor are decorated with row upon row of tiger heads. Each head appears to be that of an actual, once-living tiger. The heads are remarkably well preserved—their gaping mouths and glaring eyes even appear to be moist. It is only by Grym's supreme will power that the Symbol of Pain did not distract him, and it is this alone that prevents him from being surprised.
The heads animate and writhe their way towards the ranger as a biting snapping mass of feline death.

Round the First
Odric rushes to the front and attacks with the Kegerator, swinging with abandon at the first head. He tries to angle his strike so that he can catch two in the path of his screaming blade.
Power Attack (Furious Focus) with MW Keen Falchion +1: 1d20 + 14 - 4 ⇒ (9) + 14 - 4 = 19 for 2d4 + 10 + 6 ⇒ (1, 4) + 10 + 6 = 21 damage.

(No cleave) one writhing mass of connected heads.
Gaius Lirsiiv
Grym one handed hauls Gaius to his feet and gently slaps him with the other hand. Help me check this door.
The rogue checks the door for traps while the ranger takes a moment to listen. They first do the southern door then the other eastern door.Perception 1d20+12
Gaius lets out a gasp of... Well, you're not quite sure... At the slap. He finds his feet but he's moving languidly. After he steps off the symbol he falls to his knees and lets out an orgasmic scream. He is silent for a minute and then wobbles to his feet, letting out a low purring hum. He makes his way to the door, Grym has indicated and starts checking the door, though in a distracted way.
Damn. I... I'm going to need a little lie-down. Lady In The Room... I think I'm still vibrating. Mmmmmm.

Round 1
Ferox moves to where he has a clear line of sight on the monstrosity. He takes aim and lets loose an arrow at the beast.

questions, in order of preference:
* does this thing have any particular vulnerabilities?
* resistant to magic (specific, or general)?
* Special defenses?
* special attacks?
Dungeon Master S
Yes you have it. It's an animated object, you can jus tlook it up with that check.
Thorgrym the Tracker
Round 1
Thorgrym luckily was able to warn his comrades of the animated tigers. He moves forward slightly more cautious then Odric. Once in range he strikes leveling two powerful attacks.

Round 1 Update:
Ferox's arrow bounces off harmlessly, but it's followed up with Odric's massive swing. One of the heads rolls off the mass and onto the floor, it's magic expended. Grym gets to the monstrosity first and has time for but a single swing, which hits. More noticeable with this svord than Odric's, but the preservatives make damaging this thing harder. Bucho gets stuck behind his master. The magic missiles, however, are too small individually to penetrate the hard exterior. Still Grym and Odric do a lot of damage to the creature. It won't last long against such an onslaught. Still, it feels no pain and the rolling mass of tiger faces begins to tear into the heroes before it.

(not sure where Sandor will be positioned)
DeGrog double moves to just behind the bottleneck, trident raised to throw in case he can't get right behind Odric to distract the monster with his trusty cutlass.
Ferox Kerr
DeGrog, what was the extra Will save for?
Mork, can you see the beast from where you are?
Ferox calmly draws in a breath and takes aim at the creature. With a measured exhale, he lets loose, hoping he aimed true.

Heh. Good point. I hadn't checked the map because of the relatively simple explanation/combat. Since I was able to identify it, I simply assumed I could see it. I'll move pog later, next to ferox
Dungeon Master S
Still waiting on Gaius.
Incidentally I'm drinking whiskey with steel ice cubes. It's excellent. They don't have the same specific heat as water, so they don't chill as deeply, but they certainly improve the drink as it gets lower. The last sip bites like the first.
One of my students gave them to me. Rock.
Odric the Stout
Round the Second
Posting early cause I might not get to for a while…
Odric focuses his full attention on the monstrosity and commences swinging his mighty blade in earnest.
Full attack: Power Attack (Furious Focus) with MW Keen Falchion +1: 1d20 + 14 - 4 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 14 - 4 + 2 = 27 for 2d4 + 10 + 6 ⇒ (2, 3) + 10 + 6 = 21 damage.
