Firearm Ammunition and Adventuring Gear
Those who wield guns have a number of options when it comes to loading their weapons, and often need gunsmith’s kits to provide proper care and upkeep for their firearms.
An alchemical cartridge is a prepared bundle of black powder with a bullet or pellets, sometimes with more exotic material added, which is then wrapped in paper or cloth and sealed with beeswax, lard, or tallow. There are many types of alchemical cartridges, the simplest being the paper cartridge—a simple mix of black powder and either pellets or a bullet. Alchemical cartridges make loading a firearm easier, reducing the time to load a firearm by one step (a full-round action becomes a standard action, a standard action becomes a move action, and a move action becomes a free action), but they tend to be unstable. The misfire value of a weapon firing an alchemical cartridge increases as listed in each entry.
Emphasis mine. That's why it's only a move action for me to reload.
Otherwise, there's no positive benefit of using paper cartridges.Aien Exalmim |
Crap. Missed that. Such an idiot.
Should I eat my mistake? I probably should. I feel like I should've known about that rule.

I do...brawler class has IUS Improved Unarmed Strike...otherwise my strikes would never deal lethal damage. As well, if you say using intimidate is a standard action I'll not do it. Grapple is the main focus. All these things being decided for me.
Garret Ironheart |
@ Board: None of us have an actual class and you did not choose the Brawler's Unarmed Strike class feature when you chose your 3 starting specials. So, no you do not qualify for Improved Grapple.
I would have not taken Martial Training as it's not gonna apply with how Feats are going to work in this game.
Lithganar "BOARD" Tinvaak |
I just looked at my character sheet again...it seems that in all the confusion with character creation in system that breaks leveling and changes things so drastically with character start, that I took out Improved Unarmed Strike...a core part of the brawler class. I can assume you won't allow me to correct that mistake in hind sight. If you WOULD allow me to correct that, I'll replace another thing with IUS...for that is a vital part of the brawler class.
Lithganar "BOARD" Tinvaak |
Then I'll use it after combat... *Sigh* honestly the most difficult I've ever had in using a simple fighter class character. This system is very odd. Starting feats fire classes help character build and leveling helps character build. This is very different to what I've played for 20 years plus. I'll figure it out, just be patient is all I ask.
Garret Ironheart |
This being different is the main reason I chose to play this campaign. It should be simpler and quicker for me to accomplish my envisioned build. The character building system in this campaign makes me think of the Anima: Beyond Fantasy RPG, somewhat.
Main thing I'm concerned about at this point is that this particular quest is a god quest. REALLY hope we don't catch the whelp's mother's attention.
Lithganar "BOARD" Tinvaak |
This system is difficult for me. Played Pathfinder and D&D for 20+ years so this system is not easy. Please help me, Tin_man. I want to use a build to make something similar to the brawler class...if that won't work, I'll want the monk class, one of those two. Brawler class gets the ability to use feats they qualify for without taking them at leveling times. Monks are a step down from the raw power of the brawler but might be easier to use with this system.

Alright.
First things first I'll offer a couple of thoughts:
I like Martial Flexibility; it's cool, it's a fun gimmick. But, frankly, it's not terribly good under the current circumstance where you have the option to take practically any class ability and you're trading it away for the luxury of being indecisive with feats. That being said it's not hurting you terribly.
I think you should trade away Light Armor proficiency for a fourth class special. Light armor doesn't seem all that valuable to me unless you specifically plan on building into medium/heavy (in which case you should trade it for a class feature that gives you proficiency and goodies, like Panolpy Bond)
Now, on to my suggestions in the order they come to me:
Drop IUS/Brawlers Strike and pick up a Caestus with your proficiency/starting gear. Instead, take Fuse Style from the Master of Many Styles.
Drop Martial Training. It doesn't do anything because there are no class levels in this game. Instead, use it to take the
Drop Brawler's Cunning. Combat Expertise isn't very good at all, so swap it with Dirty Fighting. Congratulations, you now can use all combat maneuvers and still count as INT 13.
Now, if you've been following me up 'till now you'll have three special abilities available (four if you decided to do away with Martial Flexibility). Here's what I suggest:
Take the Master of Many Styles bonus feat twice for Ascetic Style and either Dragon Style (fun) or Broken Dream Style (FUN). If you chose the latter then use your final special to take Devastating Touch from the Dread class. If you go this route you can get rid of your traits (intimidate is no longer useful) for something like Heavy Hitter or Reactionary. Otherwise, use your last special to pick up Challenge/Glorious Challenge (EXTREME shenanigans once you get access to 12th level abilities)
After all that you'll still have one feat left over. Psionic Body is good if you're going the Broken Dreams route, otherwise wait to pick up Power Attack and build into Cornugon Smash.

Will do...let's finish combat and I'll respec as a monk - master of many styles. I like your ideas. I'll be implementing a few things you were talking about.
I'll change my stat thingy to look like everyone else's.
Lithganar "BOARD" Tinvaak |
I'll start adding my edits in lieu of getting to town to use the mirror. I have an idea that fixes my character flaws.
Garret Ironheart |
@ Aien: Here's an option to help with your reload time, Fast Musket (Ex).
It would bring your reload time in line with mine.

Would I need Grit for this?
It says you have to spend one grit point.Lithganar "BOARD" Tinvaak |
How does my character look now for fixing things? I want to make sure it's good before I suggest it's done.
Garret Ironheart |
Trait bonuses don't stack.
Are you using the standard Flurry or the Unchained Flurry?
And I would make a note that Redirection is one use per day at it's current level and the Reflex DC 15 for the Sickened duration.
Also, delete the Improved Grapple from your special abilities line.
Your AC would be 17/17/14 and your CMD 19. All your Saves would drop by 2 (everyone's base saves start at 0).

A few things...
Everyone please use links unless the item in question is in the core book.
Board, would you please link your traits, Specials: Flurry of Blows (Unchained) and Redirection, and your Pathfinder kit. Also please expand how you have your skill modifier. Please add a spoiler for growth (any changes for your character) and a quick blurb of your appearance for quick reference.
Tin_man, I see you added profane strength from a prestige class. You may select one of the bonuses the special gives and can add more later when you improve the special. Please add a spoiler for growth (any changes for your character) and a quick blurb of your appearance for quick reference.
Aien, please add a spoiler to your profile for 'links'. Please add any links for traits, specials, and feats that are not in the core book. Please add a spoiler for growth (any changes for your character) and possibly add a bit more to your appearance spoiler.
Ise'dranl, Please expand how you have your skill modifiers. Please switch finesse training with weapon finesse. You can add it later accordingly. Also add a spoiler or growth (any changes for your character).
Bastion, Please expand how your saves are built. I know you have a spoiler named Advancements lets keep it uniform for all profiles and please change it to growth.
If you use your mirror is cracks then turns to dust so you won't have it in your inventory any more.
If you want a great example check out Garret's profile, Bastions is a pretty good example too.

Remember I am always updating information on the google docs, suggestions on any unestablished gods would be appreciated. We don't need to flesh out any that you don't want to interact with but I would like at least 20.
I will be going through my old D&D ideas stack and be throwing in quests, I am still open for suggestions. Locations of the quests helps as well.

Hey guys, I have to apologize, but with work getting busier I'm afraid I'll need to bow out of this game. I think the system is brilliant though, but it is quite time consuming for a Pathfinder amateur like me.
I'm sorry about that Wolf. But I hope to see you guys move on with the system.
GM Wolf |
Bastion you are welcome back when things slow down. Please give the group a reason and walk off, perhaps focusing on just crafting with Hephaestus.
Tin_man, yes the one you are holding has 1 hp, but you still need to do your AoO on him. Then you will get an AoO on another one from the next round before you can do your normal attack.
Lithganar "BOARD" Tinvaak |
I understand being busy... I'm working on my third novel, my 294th short story, newly appointed Venture Captain in Utah, two conventions next month, one panel at each convention, my own pathfinder campaign I worked ten years on, local PFS events, work...and sometimes sleep also. So I get being a little busy...you are more than welcome back for an wrestle with Board when you return.
Ise'dranl |
Whoops! I didn't realize I didn't mention it. Remedied now.
Garret Ironheart |
I think you misunderstood the specifics.
The quest can be picked up from:
1. Temple of Life (in the north part of Sanctuary)
2. Temple of Death (in the south part of Sanctuary)
3. The witch: A)in the working quarter, if she's still in town; B) near the lumberyard, if she's already left town
4. The witch hunters at Paladin's Rest
I think each of the six temple's front door leads to the town square or at least very nearby.
Ise'dranl |
Oh! That clears it up. I'll make corrections.
