I have been watching Sword Art Online, Log Horizon, and Is it wrong to pick up girls in a Dungeon. The genre of trapped people within the MMORG tend to be high level (90th level for Log Horizon and having special unique skills such as dual wielding in Sword Art Online).
From my perspective, and this is what I want to confirm, for the most part, Dungeon Crash has just come out of beta testing, went live with thousand + people, who all got trapped within their avatars. So no one is maxed out level and no one has explored the lands around Sanctuary to where they know it with familiarity.
Basically thousands of 1st level adventurers and hundreds of 2nd to 3rd level adventurers within Sanctuary. A Lord of the Flies situation.
No Guilds. No in game businesses. Practically everyone is starting at 1st level. Except NPC organizations. They have the benefit of starting out more powerful

Jeffrey Flynn |

I will be offline til Monday.

Jeffrey Flynn |

Let's make the glowing spear visually more of a trident. Tridents are more regal than spears. Has that allure that spears don't have...
Any level up gems from the Lodge to the Pool?

Jeffrey Flynn |

Get better. Whiskey helps hide the symptoms so you don't realize you are sick.

Mad Alice |

So I stole a picture of someone who is bound to die again and again. I thought it was very fitting for my character concept. As for my two options, I think it'd be best if I were dropped into everything. Like Alice was just standing and idling in a peculiar place, when she gains sentience and starts to move.
Her words and actions may seem to be a little rusty at first, because she has to learn how to walk before she can run. She'll be my .hack error in the system.

Jeffrey Flynn |

Welcome on board, Alice!
GM Wolf, thanks for leaving a section of the Pool un-iced. Gave me a nice dilemma on whether Flynn would bathe in there.
A lot of things have happened... But I (and Flynn) likes the nuance of being a Hunter, as the subtly indicates that you are Pro-establishment of the King's rule - instead of a potential threat as Prey.
The Ballad Lord/Vellcrax Questline (Flynn does not want to have to take off the armor, bathe in ice water, and ask Baris to help put it back on while the Fae come out now that it is safe just to chase down one last Prey). Wearing Ballad Lord equipment while Prey, that is suicidal. Tristan may shoot a couple arrows into Flynn just on principal.
Mordriac having potential plots and ambitions too. Mordriac knows Flynn was intending to be Prey, so being a Hunter with a Citizen Scale may throw him off some. Either way, Mordriac would have to appreciate the circumstances.
Flynn wanting to get back to the others to compare notes. Sir Orik may be able to fill some details.
The King's reaction to Vellcrax being slain and an apparent Ballad Lord in his realm. Not sure if the Winter Court has respect for Ballad Lords as well as hatred, but willing to gamble that King and his advisers would. Otherwise, the premise of rule subtly collapses.
The Ard Trident
I also like the Tristan and Baris team. I would like to see that buddy cop movie. A forgotten archer meant to die in a quest so no one remembers him / no one references him in their back story (except those four wounded individuals left at the lodge. oh, reoccurring bad guys!) and the other, a halfling god.

I went to lunch with my wife in downtown Columbus. As I enjoyed my omelet, I realized that I am wanting to have Flynn enjoy such a brunch in downtown Loarim.
Then there are the scenes in Log Horizon at the terrace restaurant or the vendor stands that really show what a community MMORG can become. I want to see Loarim have something of a Renaissance similiar to Log Horizon main city.
Loarim was an isolationist city, one that valued its secrecy as a defense point. With the Northern Army heading south towards Sanctuary, Loarim may be penned in and eventually captured by the Northern Army if policy does not change.
Loarim has to change for its survival.
Will random NPCs start ignoring their quests, heading towards the big city for protection and entertainment? Tristan was at the beginnings of breaking with his quest. Others may with time.
Will the King of Winter Court fight for survival through change? Or will the King abdicate due fear of assimilation of the Northern Army.
Has the Northern Army sent ambassadors to Loarim with false promises so it can march peacefully by the Heartwoods without bloodshed. Control Sanctuary you can control the Heartwoods at your leisure.
Ready for a city adventure in Loarim.

I'm glad someone is enjoying my evil-intent-dialogue. It's a lot of fun to write.

going to work... will ponder response. Flynn will offer his healing potion. will want to keep the kid alive, either drag him with us or find him a safe place to hole up in.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Oh, but Alice -loves- Tristan. He's her social outlet, in a way.

Jeffrey Flynn |

I can see the tragedy of Alice and Tristan coming together.

Jeffrey Flynn |

Got this in spreadsheet.
We have collected 14 red crystals. Divided up appropriately: Baris 4.33, Tristan 4.33, and Flynn 4.33. Alice 1. Areas they were collected were Pool of Prey (Ballad of Vellcrax's Death), Pool of Prey (Nagakin in Wait), Finishing Move: Tristan and Baris as Buddies, and The Chosen One (off the Menu).
We have collected 7 scales. Baris and Tristan have 2.25 each. Flynn and Alice have 1.25 each. Pool of Prey (Nagakin in Wait) and Finishing Move: Tristan and Baris as Buddies
Tristan has two potions of cure light wounds.
Assignment of Gear: Open to tweaks.
Recipient Item

Mad Alice |

To have and to be together, for eternity. He'll probably die and she'll keep him around as a bleeding skeletal champion, always living and always dead. Best of both worlds, oh boy!
Irony being that he told her to try raising him after he's dead...and she would just be all "Oh sure!"

Jeffrey Flynn |

I love the physical-ness that makes up Alice. I don't see Flynn's gestures or movements important in comparison to his thoughts, plans, and ideas...
I appreciate the juxtaposition between Flynn and Alice... I could see them doing raids together to sabotage the outcome. Just using different tools to accomplish the goal...
Flynn in this world is striving to change so he can live and potentially get out... while Alice is acting out to attempt to feel alive...

Mad Alice |

That's quite an observation, I'd say. It's also a correct observation, which makes it even better. My preferred writing style tends to focus on the physical, and its just so fitting for Alice's need in conveying information.
Touching things and moving about is much less important when you've been doing it all your life. But the world is new to Alice, so she wants to interact with it as much as she can.

Mad Alice |

Why thank you. Tristan will probably regret telling Alice that the fae is better off dead right about now.

Jeffrey Flynn |

I love the image of Flynn walking calmly around the area as arrows fly in. He knows he can deflect an arrow, so that says he predicts their path... Very cinematic. Tristan ducking for cover, Alice in her wonderland while Flynn observing the arrows' flight path.

Jeffrey Flynn |

How much intro to the others do you need, Alice? Have you read the BAA (Before Alice Arrival) posts?
Can I skip ahead through introductions except for the witty one-liners?
I'll like to skip over the lapsed characters to hog screen time for myself. If they show up again, great! but would keep the pacing appropriate as we sideline characters.
Orik - Summer Fae fighter, w/ tailor as a profession. Under contract. Not Flynn's first choice.
Ms Darkling, a cool character, Chosen of Death.
Aien, looks to be lapsed character. Musket man.
Black Knight. A mystery.
Garret. A lapsed character. Chosen of Death.

Jeffrey Flynn |

Going through the posts again... I got chills reading...
"And now my agreement with your group allows my evolution that much more." He says smiling at Jeffery.

Mad Alice |

These briefs on the characters will suffice. Flynn could have stated just about anything and Alice would have drawn her own conclusions.
Also! I had a very funny idea of a new faction within the setting. This faction is an old group of players that gathered together to focus solely on the pvp action within the game, and then moved to hunting other players when they grew bored of monster grinding and set dueling areas, and clerics who just spam their heals and never die.
Alice, when she was alive, was an original member that suggested that the group be named the Friends of Alice, and the group secretly used names that had the same syllables (Fans on Aces, Fools over Abridge, Foehammers of Allstate) and that they identify themselves by saying "FOA is my favorite game" when asked, to not confuse themselves with other groups that had similar names but weren't part of the group. This kept them in an anonymous state that could allow for different variations of public faces.
But the Friends are new to the game, only having played together for the first few weeks. But they are gathering wealth and weapons and players interested in their little games. Because heck, if you're in a video game, you might as well enjoy it. Currently, they're focusing on those aspects, and killing people indirectly (offering absurd sums of money for bounties on people that they don't like, and most likely not paying), but some members are running around and employing the same ol' griefing tools that they've used before.

Jeffrey Flynn |

As I drink some Jameson whiskey...
Would any other of these types of these groups migrate Game to Game... as they get too much heat in Eve Online, they would hit up WOW, then head to Ultima Online, and then circle to Dungeon Crash?
It would be interesting to see a group that has gamed together and focused on being naughty, then get trapped in Dungeon Crash... Then try those tactics out in Dungeon Crash. They probably lost one or two players to a God of Sanctuary, probably the sheriff god, so they fled the city. Maybe using their mirrors to change into Goblins, trying to become the Goblin King. So now they wait to be in the 4 cardinal armies that are coming to Sanctuary for revenge against the God that killed their real life brother, sister, friend who bought them better armor, etc.
I see FOA as Mid to higher tier encounter. F++% Over Anyone. Freaking Over-the-top Awesomeness. Federal Overtime Approved.
I like building up a list of potential rivals and bad guys. I like that Patches and Screams backed off, so when we encounter him again, he is prepared for us a little better.
I like Mordriac being a potential ally in this place, but might be playing us. Probably me projecting how I would play a Hunt Master in these circumstances. He'll be like, "I expected you to adapt to the change in plan. I saw an opportunity. I trusted that you would be able to adjust. From observing you, you pride yourself on thinking on your feet. I couldn't speak in front of the Adepts as that would cause them to hesitate at the wrong time. Quit whining and enjoy the ale and feast, we both survived. And we're both in a better place than two nights ago. Wasn't that the ultimate plan?"
I also like the streamlined fighting, more story-time rather than dice rolling, where our actions count, rather than a week of waiting. I read through the fight with the Maid in Black's spiders again and compared it to the Vellcrax scene... Vellcrax to me was more intense, because the nature of the build-up, one die roll... rather than spending a week and a half dealing with minions.
The Hunt has been awesome. The Patches and Screams encounter worked wonderfully and drew me in when I was thinking the Hunt should be wrapping up, nothing to see here.. and wham. A Winter Court Noble whom we can have as a reoccurring bad guy. He used tactics that I think are brilliant, but wasn't expecting to be confronted/called out on those tactics. The awakening makes for interesting decision making from NPCs. Can't expect that going forward but expected it this night.
Kinda like someone who played a character from 1st level to 15th level knows what he can do in a fight... somebody making a 15th level character may have maximized the build, but isn't sure of how to pace themselves in a fight. Flynn is counting on this during the Hunt, because he is ...well... he is Flynn.
Getting back to Mordriac. He has insider knowledge. He is pondering scenarios and outcomes. Plus the one thing from the info from the Looking Glass Doorway, I didn't see is he came from outside this area and conned his way into the Court. Ritual duel, my ass. His loyalty to the House of Sorrows will be tested.
I am growing attached to Baris, he is pretty cool. Tristan is great. The evolution and realization of Tristan's social standing is fun to watch. Both Alice and Tristan oddly enough make an excellent pairing as their journeys are so similiar. But the outer coating so different. I can see Tristan drawn to Alice, her attractiveness, first woman he has seen since the awakening, low self esteem at this point, she smelling of Prey and there are several different ways to hunt Prey.
Not quite sure how Orik with fit into this picture. Not my first choice, I always liked the Cheshire cat better. But Orik has been loyal and protective of his contract holders. Depending on your pacing and fish out of water narrative you are going for, Orik should die before informing Flynn of the House of Courage, the armor, the mystical writing.
Baris and Alice are great choices to be Prey. Baris's boon will be good-natured. I am anticipating Alice's boon... technically more of a blessing by the King.
Will be she ask for Tristan to be her wedded Knight? Will she ask for deeper insight into Fae power? Will she do something hedonistic? Will she do something noble and selfish, while secretly protecting herself.
The order will be interested for the Hunt Wrap up. The Hunters present their scales, then Prey present themselves... Or Prey present themselves, then the Hunters.
Then the House of Sorrows vs House of Courage interplay. Been thinking about that, on how to position Flynn in all this... Fun times for a ceremony and feast.
Oddly enough Alice is in a great position to be accepted into the Winter Court. They like death and decay... So does she...
Ms Darkling as a Chosen of Death can also be accepted in Loarim... but her Death ideal may be so different that she has to leave.
Do the Gods accept NPCs into their Familia? Would a Death God from Sanctuary journey to Loarim?
Can Baris be with us in the woods while another (and yet the same) Baris be in Sanctuary in his 4 room temple with a courtyard that has a stream.
I like that Baris listens to Flynn, absorbing the day's lessons. I like not knowing if he is evaluating or if he is learning. Shows that Baris is into philosphy.

Meanwhile, Mr Manyteeth thinks, "Will this Flynn never stop his prattling!"

Me'mori |

I've done enough thinking in other games. I'm going to aim for the jovial large character that just enjoys the simple pleasures of mano-y-mano combat.. Including Body slams, suplexes, and many other similar ideas.
GM, have you seen the Luchador book yet? *hopeful eyes*

Mad Alice |

Oh, the groups would absolutely migrate from game to game. There numbers may not be the greatest, as some may actually have died, but they are very quick to learn. Some may even cheat in anyway they could, but most would prey on others that were weaker than them. This may become darker yet, once they learn that its not just fun and games; people are actually dying in the game. Then a schism could happen between those that just want to have fun and those that find themselves to be true murderers. Literal, player killers.
Then there's Alice, who would be neutral to both sides. For one, she does love having fun at the expense of others. For the other, she represents something much larger than anyone could potentially realize; she is the physical embodiment of immortality. Within the game and within reason, but pretty much immortality. But that hasn't come up yet; and it might or it might not appear.

GM Wolf |

Nice Alice, but I am still trying to catch up...
Sorry I was sick most of the day and caught up with RL yesterday night.
Sounds great Alice... one more group/action of hundreds I am working on...
I love the thoughts... moreover for me to work with!
I think that streamlining the fights are essential especially when away from each other. Also when there is a clear advantage descriptive fighting works great, like most of the fights so far.
-------
Okay I think I am caught up with this game. :P

I assume we are looking at your inspiration with the Luchador?

Jeffrey Flynn |

I have a few red crystal picks for Flynn...
Woodland Stride (Ex): Starting at 2nd level, a druid may move through any sort of undergrowth (such as natural thorns, briars, overgrown areas, and similar terrain) at her normal speed and without taking damage or suffering any other impairment. Thorns, briars, and overgrown areas that have been magically manipulated to impede motion, however, still affect her.
Trackless Step (Ex): Starting at 3rd level, a druid leaves no trail in natural surroundings and cannot be tracked. She may choose to leave a trail if so desired.
Resist Nature's Lure (Ex): Starting at 4th level, a druid gains a +4 bonus on saving throws against the spell-like and supernatural abilities of fey. This bonus also applies to spells and effects that utilize or target plants, such as blight, entangle, spike growth, and warp wood.
2 crystals for hit points.
Looked at Favored Terrain: Fae Woods and Rogue Talent: Fast Stealth.
But still need to figured out the armor and hilt. That may require some training to use the armor so it isn't dictating movement from previous Ballad Lords.

Mad Alice |

How many red crystals would Alice require to increase her Animate Dead to rank 2?

Jeffrey Flynn |

Alice should take a Domain. Death, Evil, Chaos...

Jeffrey Flynn |

Before we get to a dispenser to claim the advancements... using other creatures fossilized soul bits to advance our creatures... I see that we claim the Forest of the the Fae for our portion of the sandbox. We got here first. Nearly survived their first Hunt. Made potential enemies and allies and enemies who claim to be allies (I like these guys because short term goals get accomplished!)... My plan is to stay here for a while, sending NPCs out to various places for missions.
I have to assume that there are other people thinking things through like Flynn is... I have been picturing someone from the military coming home for a break, starting to play Dungeon Crash for some reason (younger sibling, parents working all the time, a game-head, avoiding family til next deployment). How he would get into the House of Steel or the Grey Wardens or under the Sheriff of Sanctuary. He would use modern day military doctrine while studying fantasy military units. He would use special forces better, understand how to hold out during a siege, placement of units to delay Cardinal points from getting to Sanctuary.
Then the twist, how to make him less than noble. Player sacrifice to an evil god, anyone? Would a drunk player B who agrees to be a chosen of the god of evil torture be payment by military player A?

Mad Alice |

Or pick up desecration and litter the world in unhallowed grounds. A domain is in the plans; but she only has one crystal right now. A domain likely doesn't come with the immediate powers, does it? Because they have level abilities...or does the domain come within its own package? My confusion is the only thing that pushes me away from the idea.

GM Wolf |

There appears to be nearly no dispensers in the woods. But great prepping!
To increase Animate Dead in any aspect it would cost about 27 red crystals.
Red
1 Orison, +1 BAB, +1 Save, 1 skill point, 1d6 hp or +3 hp, class special/feature[up to 2th lvl]
Orange
1st level spell 3/day, Feat, class skill, class special/feature[up to 4th lvl]
Yellow
2nd level spell, ability score, greater feat, class special/feature[up to 6th lvl]
Lime
3rd level spell, class special/feature[up to 8th lvl]
With a domain you gain all the bonuses a first level cleric would

Mad Alice |

Mm! That's expensive. We will have to see how many crystals fall into her lap then and ask about upgrades later.
Say we pick up a class special that is acquired at level one, but upgrades when its level two by a bit. Would we get the level 1 version or the level 2 version? Like a bloodsoaked cheetah animal companion for instance?
