Cool Naaman, Korbin will have his, b/c his Armor doesn't come with one like your terminator armor. I had thought about giving it to the Inquisitor, just to protect her, but then Korbin would be more vulnerable. If you buy one, then it'll be an extra, BUT!!! I was going to keep it secret, maybe even sleight of hand with Korbin to equip her with it, don't let others know...Then again it could be visible and unnecessary...Just thought about trying to lure the attacker into a false sense of security, maybe someone attacks, not knowing she is protected...etc.

male White Scars Devastator 5

I'm sorry to say this but I think I will have to drop out. Seems the Space Marine life is not for me.

It's all good, thanks for saying something before leaving, it was fun playing with you while it lasted.

Nice playing with you Temujin. Welcome back if you ever change your mind.

Male I am a meat Popsicle

I am one of the players in the Calixis Deathwatch game you are evaluating for takeover. ;)

I would be interested in playing in an additional game. Would my joining you be acceptable?

Of course, welcome aboard.

Stats are chosen with 100 points (no more than 20 in one stat)

Marines are rank 5 with 34,650 xp total

Renown is 57

You may chose your armor's history.

Current requisition for mission is 200 per marine.

Renown limit on purchasing terminator armor is removed for this mission.

After you make or modify a marine to these character levels I'll work you into the current mission=)

Let me just say hello.

Liberty's Edge

Kingmaker Exploration Map

Si if one wants to join you game, is that possible?
If not, can you write me down as a "substitution" player when the opportunity arises?

Dark Archive

GM W.R. Monger

Well I will hope to have something soon as a substitute or active player as you decide.

Do you want a background or just the crunch?

Male I am a meat Popsicle

Yuugasa, is there a role that is lacking? Or one that is overfull?

Lots of familiar faces. Welcome boys.

We got a keeper, a forgemaster, an apothecary soon to turn watch captain (I think that's Morgan's plan) and a librarian.

Play with some of you guys in another game, be sure to read what others post, we aren't in a bubble. Just started our latest mission, would be useful to catch up and know.

Most questions previously answered in previous post not far above your question.

Amount of xp, choices allowed, offer to join current mission, all there. Jus catch up a little, read last mission to have some context.

Here to help if you got additional questions.

The keeper is a tactical marine. Fluff hasn't been a requirement, some have written that after they joined and crunched. Those of us here all have history, nice to have, you know why.

You are all welcome to join as active players. Looks like BayouSnowman has it covered with the questions already asked=)

As far as roles go you can play what you like, it's nice to have a well rounded party but I'd rather have you guys play characters you love then focus on just balanced party roles.

Can I create my own chapter?

Was looking into making a Sons of Antaeus Devastator.

Yes, I am ok with player created chapters.

Dark Archive

GM W.R. Monger

You want me to post chapter here for review or as part of my character sheet?

Both is prolly best if you're willing to do a little copy/paste, the whole thing here for inspection and the relevant parts in your profile for future reference.

Sons of Antaeus

Belief

Spoiler:

The beliefs of the Sons of Antaeus after the Cursed Founding was the unshakeable determination that Mankind should be free of oppression and terror where ever they may found it. Such freedom could only be won by destroying those that would shackle and devour humanity. The battle for the future of Mankind was one that could only be achieved through the endurance of any hardship, no matter how terrible. The Sons of Antaeus faith in inner strength, iron will and unshakeable resolution in the face of hardship led to sometimes be seen with overweening pride, arrogance and an utter contempt for those that bow their heads to tyranny. The Sons of Antaeus believe they stand alone as members of the Cursed Founding, which bring distrust and the watchful eye from the Inquisition, having to prove themselves worthy of others regard when they do serve in the Deathwatch, which is a rare sight indeed.

Combat Doctrine

Spoiler:

The Sons of Antaeus came to believe that victory came through sheer relentlessness. Their weapons, while not ornate, functioned without flaw. They did not maneuver in fanciful patterns to confuse the enemy, instead they stood their ground and waited for the enemy assaults to falter before striking back with fatal force. They would overcome through sheer stubborn resilience and painful endurance. The Sons of Antaeus had learned the art of warfare by using their bodies as impassable fortresses and their innate intellect allowed him to grasp the proper use of tanks and armored vehicles, the primacy of the foot soldier remained the Sons of Antaeus trademark. Each Space Marine was well-trained in a variety of infantry disciplines, and was able to function in almost any role.

Sons of Antaeus Space Marines value resilience and will to face Mankind’s foes. A Sons of Antaeus Space marine gains the following benefits: -5 Agility, +10 Toughness

Bonus Talent: Natural Armor (exoskeleton) (2)
Restrictions: Sons of Antaeus cannot take the Deathwatch Assault Marine.
Battle Cry: Relentless and Remorseless!

PAST EXPERIENCE

Spoiler:

1. Defense of Arkeyna You were part of a strike force deployed to end a Necron invasion upon the Imperial planet Arkeyna.
2. Endured the WAAAGH! : You stood with your fellow brothers against the Waaagh! Dozens of greenskin invaders died at your hands.
3. Space Hulk Veritas: You were part of a force that boarded a massive space hulk that had materialized on the verges of the Inca Sector that was purged from Genestealers.
4. Third Guild War: You participated to cleanse the Inca Sector from Eldar corsairs.
5. The Ghoul Stars: You were part of a force deployed with sanctioned Rogue Trader’s to explore the Arkeynan Sub-sector within the Ghoul Stars.

CHAPTER DEMEANOR

Spoiler:

Children of Gaia
All Space Marines within a given Chapter are bonded to one another by a common genetic inheritance and years of combat at each other’s’ side. While some Battle-Brothers serving in the Deathwatch have difficulty widening their sense of comradeship to include those outside of their Chapter, others have none at all, regarding all Space Marines, regardless of Chapter or Progenitor, as their Brothers. As such, there is nothing that the Battle-Brother would not do for a fellow Space Marine, up to and including dying so that his Brothers may live. The only downside of such a trait is that the Battle-Brother may come to look down upon those outside of the Adeptus Astartes, believing (often quite rightly) that none can match their own standards.

Just missing chapter trappings, though of giving them some sort of hand weapon and a trinket that gives a +5 bonus to a skill.

My daughtit's usually ejust turned 2, I gave up xbox and play pbp now. I feel ya, it'll get easier in some ways, harder in others.

As for trapping, it's usually 1-3 point bonus or a weapon that replaces the astartes knife with similar profile, like sacris claymore. Never seen both or a +5 trapping... Remember they come after the unnatural modifier when adding.

All else looked fine, exoskeleton is cool, you make that up? Haven't really been through custom chapter rules, so I can't really say much in regards to those things, but looks fine otherwis. Once y ou get your profile up and xp spent I'll take another glance. Welcome to squad Thannatos.

They are part of the cursed founding and what makes them different is their Augmented Exoskeletons that makes them basically the Death Guard good guys versions and they are at least a head taller than a regular marine.

I've seen some in Honor thy chapter, but I will find something in the basic book to convert.

Welcome Arkhos, I didn't realize it was you til now.

This is my tentative character, Brother Decius of the Sons of Antaeus.

I have spent only 31950 Exp of the 34650, open to suggestions and review of course.

Sorry for the slow posting these last few days, real life is rearing it's ugly head, will have a gameplay post up soonish.

This is Teneroth, should be mostly complete. Let me know if I forgot anything.

Just filling in the wounds n stuff now

Characters look good so far, unfortunately I don't have the time to go through them line by line at the moment. Hopefully by this weekend my life will have calmed down a bit.

BayouSnowman if you happen to have enough free time right now to help these fine gentlemen feel free to give them final approval once they are done if you think everything looks ship-shape.

Will do.

Well I just learned something important. Sorry if this is old hat to everyone, but I just wanted to clarify.

When I recently learned about this wondrous thing called "Squad mode" I assumed all the Squad-mode abilities are shared with the rest of the squad. But, it actually says, on page 219, that Chapter-specific Squad abilities not only can only be used by troops of that chapter, but also only affect troops of that chapter.
Huh.
However! There is a magnificent talent in Rites of Battle called 'Forging the Bond' which allows someone to benefit from other chapters' squad abilities.

Are...are all of us able to swing the 500 xp to get that? It's just that all of us have some pretty nice chapter-specific moves that would open up some very interesting options, if all of us could get the benefit.

Does this make sense?

Liberty's Edge

huh... next time I have 500xp free I'll have to grab that. I'd do it now but I've only just enough for my The Flesh is Weak 3... and I don't want to calculate everything out again.

Did you get the reply to your PM, it says exactly the same as above. I've posted previously about this, but did get much attention. Sardus bought the talent, maybe others waiting for it until we're a higher level..

Squad mode hardly gets used. People like their solo mode, but it's not actually lost in Squad mode, some benefits still apply from solo mode in squad mode.

Anyway, I've let everyone know about it before, but it was before you new guys. If you are taking it great, I just remind people I have the talent here and they can add 2 to the cohesion cost so both of us could now benefit and use other's attack pattern. Cost is paid once, it covers team.

oh, have you taken a look at my sheet yet? I think I have everything in line but am eager to know if I'm in. If I missed anything just lemme know and I'll fix it.

Hey Ramsey,

Most looks fine, just a few questions. How did you get to 28 wounds? You should list all skills, even the basic ones you can attempt. Take a look at one of my aliases like Korbin for a tech marine example. Artificer armor should be 12AP, it's always master crafted, so stats in table have accounted for it.

Don't forget you have attack and defense patterns, also solo mode. Take a look at Morgan's profile, he's storm warden.

Don't forget there are deeds and distinctions to add flavor, chapter relics and death watch relics that you can make signature gear, offering unique game play options. I think the GM is pretty open and willing to allow most anything from the books. If you don't have those books or would like a suggestion, just ask, glad to help.

I'm reviewing the other profiles now, sorry for not going in order of completion, will have something for each of you soon. Just gonna eat dinner first.

the rolls are in the other thread, because I'm smart like that, rolled a 5, plus 2 from stormwarden, plus 18... think I miscalcuated that one, should have 25.

I didn't see that the mastercrafted bonus was already calculated into the artificer armor, can't find any mention of it but I'll take your word for it.

What book are deeds and distinctions in? I'll take a look through

And I don't really want to list every solo mode available to my char, they are easy enough to find and all are available just base. I'll copy paste them over if you want but tbh I don't really see the point.

Cool on the wounds, thought maybe you had planned on buying sound constitution and then forgot.

The book just says all Artificer armor is master crafted, in book in table its 12AP and 100kg, which is much better and way lighter. Most other items are common unless otherwise stated, so stats in tables for weapons and most armor are common. To say its 13AP and then 50kg is a bit of a stretch, as there is no common quality artificer armor, so then where would the 12AP armor fit in?

They are in Rites of Battle. Everyone can have one deed and some distinctions if they like.

No need to list every solo mode, attack pattern, and defense pattern. Just your unique ones for Storm Wardens as it might provide you with essential bonuses or talents during gameplay. Easy for the GM to reference quickly in your profile if there is a question. I like to put things in profile in case I don't have books in front of me and/or my memory fails.

Maybe you are confusing my suggestion for putting basic skills. I just suggested that so you know what you could and couldn't attempt. For you, you might not know if something is Advanced or Basic and might not be sure which stat and what to roll it at. If you keep track of all that in another way, then cool. As you like.

Everything looks good, I'd say work on your 200 Req. points and the GM will try to write you in. If you do take some deeds and/or distinctions, just let me know, adjust your xp, and I'll take another look.

Just a note for new guy:

Your PC begins at Level 1 and a certain amount of XP spent to account for the starting talents and traits. Then you spend another amount, bringing you to the total. Its not spending the total and adding that to a level 1 PC. Not sure who didn't or did do that, haven't done the math, was just looking at others profiles and wondered if people knew.

@ Aterro: Why do you need 2 targeters? It goes on armor and provides bonus to all weapons, fx don't stack. Maybe you want a Signum or something else?

You don't really buy clips of missiles. I remember looking for an answer as I considered buying plasma missiles. Expensive and didn't know how many I'd be getting. Want to say its just a few..but can't recall. You are literally a walking bomb. I'll stay far way from you I think when stuff gets critical...

Generally speaking ammo doesn't matter, but specialty stuff can. I'll let the GM rule how many you have total for the mission or if its just unlimited (reasonably).

Signature Wargear and master signature wargear..you have (pending), but not sure what you want the auxiliary launcher to be attached too. its +3kg to any weapon, you putting on your heavy bolter? If I were you I'd consider something else...those 2 things are a little redundant and limited in usage. They are also very cheap to requisition and a waste of your Signature Wargear talents. Master gives you up to 40 points in req. total, but you use 30 to add +2 damage to grenades which actually won't matter much when you use in hordes (the most likely use for these munitions)..you leave another 10 points wasted b/c what could you do to it? It not very customizable. Its very standard and easy to add to anything else. Your choice though.

Lastly, for stats, don't have so much info there its confusing. The bonuses you bought, those are shown in your spent XP, no need to say so at that part. Also, look at mine for example. I only put the base of my PC stats after leveled up and advances bought. Then in parenthesis I add things that could be used in certain situations. For example, some things only work when helmet on. Some negatives and bonuses apply in certain situations not all. Don't add a +5 FW bonus with space marines to that. Leave that in parenthesis to be added if the need arises. Your armor history as an additional +10 FW bonus in the arms??

You got some things to clean up before I can finish up yours. Gonna take a look at a few other aliases now.

I suggest a few other weapons for this mission, things that can be used in close quarters or inside buildings. Spread that power out. We got a few launchers now, good to have a little more, but not if it means sacrificing the short game.

@Shield breaker: Don't see a profile for you or an alias. Let me know when you get something up, I'll check it out. Seen you around a few of the games that didn't get started. Glad to see you'll make it into one here. Welcome.

@Deiros/Decius/Arkhos..Hey, just saw your last name is Castillo, like Castil from our other game. I'll remember you now.

Looking good, guess you are still going through a few things, but you look ready for spending Req. points and approval soon.

I think that is everyone, if I missed you I apologize, not intentional. Heading home soon, long day at work. You all should be waking up soon. Enjoy your morning.

1) Oops, sorry, thought they went per weapon. Yes, then I will have a sigum then!

2) Alright, clips updated.

3) I'm waiting on a ruling from the GM on a minor detail about grenade launchers, hence the pending. They can't go an a Soundstrike so I'll be adding +15 for shoulder-mount (hand-mount modification).

4) Stats cleaned. I'll only put situational modifiers there. Ya, the armor was confusing, cleaned now.

5) *chuckle* You are correct, Sir! =) Hence, the grenade launcher. (wait, what?) I was looking at what weapons I could have on a hand-mount to fill in my short game. I thought about a shotgun, or melta-pistol. I mean, I wanted a gren. launcher because there are some useful grenades, and then I noticed a grenade with -no- blast radius. So when some heretic tries to step up and get a little friendly, they're gonna get a krak to da face. :o

All of my books are in pdf form so I have easy access to them. I don't want to clutter my sheet so... for now I'm going to leave it as is. I may change my mind later but... for now...

Also, having looked through Rites of Battle I am grabbing a deed. Good news is it's free! Bad news is I loose one of my already lacking fate points. But I get more cybernetics so... \o/

As for my requisition my thoughts so far are:
-A couple servitors, our mission is defense and these would help with repairs in combat. Or I can put h.bolters on them and more fire power
-Orbital strikes, somewhat fluffy from my char being from a ship board past, and a couple lance strikes really cut down on tyranid hoards.
-I wanted to get a thunderfire cannon, but I can't find any rules for them.

I don't really need any more weapons... Any suggestions?

@Ramsey That is...incredibly intelligent. =)

Wouldn't bother saving points to use during mission, we got a one way ride on a cruiser and we are teleporting out, place is surrounded by ships and tyranids. Use what you want, restrictions lifted for renown on this mission.

Just recalled something about servo harness, it's famed renown, currently we arentthere, but maybe you get it early for some reason or another... thought you were originally buying it with req points on this mission, but now you want it at level without the renown... Up to GM on that decision, I'd say pay in req points now for it. Choose another upgrade that you can be awarded at distinguished level.

uhh... umm.... totally missed that. guess I figured if I could take the talent to use the harness I could take the harness... Guess I just got a Servo-arm.

I will use 50 req to get the harness, because the harness is amazing. Otherwise I'll just have two servo arms, one common one exceptional, and roleplay it as I'm building my own harness... or something.

Random question, are there mechandrites in deathwatch? I know they are in Dark heresy, rogue trader, and even only war, but I can't seem to find them here. There's talents for their use...

I've often wondered about the same thing with mechandrites. There are all the talents, but no place to buy. We discussed this previously here, there is a conversion chart for requisitioning things in other games like you mentioned. I'd say follow those to buy. GM ruled we are free to choose from among any book, create weapons, which is awesome for us tech Marines, and even create talents if we wish, as long as it's balanced and reasonable. The DW books are for Marines, but they can access anything else, just difficult for others to get DW stuff. Make sense?

There is the Forge master alt rank which would give you the harness as standard gear, otherwise making it exceptional quality is an expensive, though one time, cost. Guess you hada different alt rank in mind. We mmight not be limited to only one. Don't know if that affects your decision or not.

Also don't forget, you have heightened senses takents for hearing and sight, which is +10 to perception test on those senses. Those stack with your helmets auto senses, which I think is +5 or 10 on your helmet. Add those to your profile.

What is your amulet, trapping, and charm?

The servo harness includes a combi tool, you don't need to reqone. LLook at skull of Bantor, I think that's the name, dw relic, servo skull with signum link. I'd exchange data slate for cartograph, same cost, but much improved, we don't have one I believe.
