Happy Anniversary BayouSnowman, it's all good.

On another note this is the first time I've been even able to access Paizo in a long minute and I am having a hellva time getting my posts to stick, sorry for any delays in the gameplay thread.

Happy Anniversary Bayou.

Also, no problem about the posts I have been having trouble accessing the site itself as well.

The site was down for a while, all good now. Thanks for the wishes. I'll be updating shortly with Sardus and Korbin.

@Librarian topic:

Yea, I know you can't say much, I was just trying to create an "in" for BIg OM, I sent an PM, but no reply. Just wanted him to know it wasn't too late to join. I probably would've gone with a librarian alt. character if didn't think we'd have one. There was a Rune Priest I think someone was making...

Anyways, there was tons of interest and then much of it died off too quickly. If we don't get a librarian before the end of this scene and no one else has interest in creating a 2nd character, then I'll make one. If someone else would like to play it but doesn't have time to put a PC together, I'm offering to do it for you. I've already got 2 Librarians here on Paizo so it wouldn't be much work to build off that and add xp to one of them. Of course there would be a change up of chapter and skills, I wouldn't make copycats.

Regardless, even without a Librarian, we'll still be marines and keep on doing the Emperor's work....

EDIT: One last thought, maybe Sardus could be the designated leader, since he's a keeper and could eventually have his own void vessel and lead directly or lead from afar...the Fluff supports it and his xp build is moving towards that with pilot and stellar navigation in the "Keeper" alt. rank chart.

The point is, we could take turns being him? Everyone copies the Alias and then instead of taking turns with our PCs as leaders, Sardus could be the leader. I say that as he's the only one of us built for Fellowship and leadership skills...

That means we could have an alt. character that we play and then when its our turn to be squad leader, we could take Sardus and one of our PCs? Nothing wrong with anyone leading the mission without the Fellowship/Command build, it won't be that detrimental, but we needed a face for the squad and he's the guy so far. Anyone else is welcome to do the same and create a leader or we take a stab at my idea.

Essentially it means, next mission someone could play Sardus and their PC or just Sardus, if they felt 2 PCs in the same thread is too much. That means everyone else plays their same PC and as the GM said, we're allowed a second PC, so we could play them as well if we wanted.

If that doesn't make since, sorry, never mind. Just throwing out an idea that came to me before I clicked post. We lost a player our IRL Rogue trader game and now we substitute each session, with one person playing their PC and the Captain, next week, another person plays Captain, etc, rotates around b/w the 4 of us.

On the librarian topic: I'm fine with waiting for Big OM if he still wants to join in the game. If he doesn't then I can have a librarian character up and ready to join quickly.

On the Leader topic: I don't think we need to have Sardus be the leader for every mission. The leader just makes a decision if the Kill-Team seems to be at an impasse, and we haven't had that so far. While we also get the cohesion and other bonuses that hasn't become necessary yet either. This may change as we continue on, but Apothecary Morgan was already planning on trying to become a watch captain at some point so he could pick up the talent that allows him to use strength instead of fellowship for tests. This is all subject to change based on the future though.

I'm cool with whatever you guys decide.

Cool, sounds good Morgan on both the Librarian and Watch Captain, as none of my PCs will be going for that, they've already got Alt. Specialty ranks. Was just something from IRL I thought could apply to this game, but you're right, its not Rogue Trader and anyone can be "captain."

I doubt BIG OM is comin round. I PM'd him days ago and he posted a few times in discussion all ready and then never came through. I'd say throw something up when you can, worst case, we have 2 librarians...Though with the Warp and her funny ways that could easily and quickly change.

I am sorry about not replying, I'll have Naaman join you later today.

Naaman is ready, what would be the best way to introduce him?

I'll just drop pod you in then let you do an intro, would you like to join the main group of marines or the techmarine in the shuttle bay?

The main group I think.

Alright I'll add you in shortly.

Hey, had enough time to post my dodge attempts, but not enough to attack. Got some meetings this afternoon I have to head too and then a Christmas dinner with employees, so I won't be able to post my round 2 attacks until after. I might find time a little earlier, but perhaps not, I have to go to another office location. I'll be able to post within the next 10 hours from now my attacks.

I'm in China, so its afternoon for me right now :0

posting my actions for round 2 now, sorry for the delay.

It's all good, having a busy day myself=)

Gotta head to another Christmas party, I'll be back this evening and will post more, tried to say what I could remember off the top of my head, but need to go back and read for the details and names.

Nice job everyone. Sardus will have some words, but I'll need time to compose something worthy of our actions.

Also I think Korbin will be offering the sword to Morgan has he slayed the governor in single combat. I jsut need time to do it. Enjoy your weekend.

It's all good, it's Christmas season, things naturally slow down a bit. I'll take the next bit slow and let you guys role play what you want at each step.

Also as a side note in case there is confusion the Alpha Legion Marines were not poisoned, only the Hydra Warriors were, who are the human troops serving the Marines.

Should I give Sardus a moment to continue talking or move on for now?

I'm posting now, go ahead if you're reading this now. Just got home. Nothing I can say that'll change much.

Going to my mother in law's tomorrow (yay?) for three days, don't know if I will have internet access, but even if I don't once I get back the holidays will be pretty much over and I can pick up the posting pace.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

No worries, my mother in laws has no internet too, but that's less b/c of age and more of location. They are in the countryside, drawing water from a well and farming. Love going out there and seperating from society.

Alright, sorry for the delay guys, I'll catch up and post soon.

Thanks for the Field, sounds perfect. Not such a disadvantage as in RT, we all have photo-visors and heightened senses.

Had a few other quick questions, didn't want to get too far off topic in gameplay thread.

1. New Armor History? You choosing for us? We choose, or ignore for this instance. I'm cool with whatever.

2. Forgot the other one...for now.

@ The Kill Team:

Going to have points left over as I said, if there's anything you can suggest, I'm all ears. Normally we could save some for use later, but given our location and teleportation devices, calling in airstrikes and such isn't gonna happen.

Sardus as some big guns to take, also a missile launcher again. Korbin will be more agile, but equally protected. He won't be as heavy hitting with ranged, but he'll be scouting, repairing, and making strategic strikes. He's got demolition training, we may need to blow that place up...

Morgan looks good with his Hammer and Shield, close quarters combat ready with mounted Storm Bolter.

Haven't seen anyone else update or do req. stuff yet, so can't include you. Looks to be a fun mission, I've never fielded terminator armour or some of their larger mounted weapons.

I let my players choose their own armor history, which they can do with the new suits of terminator plate too if they wear it=).

Cool. As for the Deed and Axe from gameplay Thread, Sardus already has the Deed, was just using it to req. the Axe for Korbin. Maybe you got that, but from the sound of your reply, it looked like you were saying I could have both.

Ah, I meant I approve extending the invitation and approving the axe. Generally speaking I simply allow the requisition of anything a player qualifies for, the only exceptions being when an item is called out in a book as either not having a Req. cost and/or needing GM approval, being unique, etc.

I am not sure how clear I've made that though.

I'll be posting my equipment choices tomorrow, currently I am think Force sword, terminator armour, psychic hood, some ranged not requiring a hand possibly a missile launcher or an arm mounted stormbolter, perhaps both. Any suggestions?

Perhaps a stupid question. Do I need a free hand to cast a psychic power?

Hey,

Nope, don't need a free hand, but it'll cost you an action or half action, sometimes a free action. Remember that when you want to move or do other things. Also, sustaining, cost half action and has other rules, but generally, no, you don't neet a free hand.

As for equipment, never knew for sure if wearing Psy Hood means no helmet? Looks that way in pics, but not sure. Could be useful here, but you won't be dodging, so a head shot is gonna hurt if you don't have any armor. I'd suggest some cranial implants later to help up the AP on your head, not sure if thats an option in DW though...

Can't go wrong with arm mounted storm bolter, if you're deciding b/w this and launcher, I'd go with this, more versatile and more ammo. Get a fire selector and some powerful ammo if you've got points left. I think 2 of us already have launchers, should be enough...

There's some cool guns and things for Librarians but Grey Knights hogged them all mostly.

My requist. is being finished now. Wanted to try some new things, beauty of DW, every mission calls for new and varied tools.

Thanks. The toughest part is going to be action economy.

I think my selection will be as follows:
Terminator Armour 60
Force Sword 0
Strom Bolter 20
Arm mount 10
2x Kraken Rounds 10
Fire Selector 2
Cyclone Missile Launcher 95

In total 197

An alternative could be:
Terminator Armour 60
Force Sword 0
Strom Bolter 20
Arm mount 10
Psychic hood 25
Assault Cannon 80

In total 195

Should I go for Assault cannon and Psychic hood or Cyclone missile launcher

I gave you suggestion earlier, 2 people already have launchers. A few of us with Heavy Bolters, some melee. Storm Bolter not bad or you could pick a gun with more punch. Korbin's gonna play with some plasma. Have fun, grab the assault cannon, I thought about that one, but Sardus gets bonus for using Bolt Weapons, so using heavy bolter.

Graviton Gun...Awesome. Nuff said, still considering taking it with Korbin :)

Atomizer gun...Hey, who cares about iridiating a place we're already abandoning, maybe it'll slow them down and they'll less likely consume the area?

Have fun, pick something you'd like to use, a rare occasion to reach above our current renown and usual # of requist. points.

Also, just noticed you spent too much xp, we only have 34, 650 right now, not 34, 850. Just noticed when I was looking at your requisit. stuff. Not much trouble, some things you took at level 5 aren't going to be useful this mission, like Dodge...

Bayou - Thanks for the help. I don't know why I miscalculated.

Another question am I allowed to take other weapons than the ones mentioned with the terminator armour? Are they compatable?

I think so, that compatability list isn't exclusive, don't even think heavy bolter is on list. I think just about any heavy or mounted weapon, especially if it's an astartes weapon, shoul be doable. AAt least mountable on shoulder or arm. But I'm not GM so up to him.

Good question. As was psy hood with or without helmet. Nearly done with my stuff, walking dog, then posting finalized requisition.

Korbin and Sardus Req complete. Got 10 points left b/w the 2 of them, could be useful to someone, feel free to use them, if not, throw me your extra points and I'll find something useful to do with them.

GM: Please check my req, particularly Korbin, make sure you approve of what I did, I plan to roleplay it as well, I'll post describe some info that explains what happened and why, etc. Something I've been working on, just finally rushing to complete. I'll describe the harness etc to best of my ability.

You can wear a helmet with a psychic hood, yes in terminator armor you can use any weapons a power armored marine can use.

The completed requisition choices look good to me.

Gonna move the tale forward later today=).

male White Scars Devastator 5

Hmmm Terminator Armor and an Assault Cannon are tempting but then there is no special issue ammo or Bolter Drill for me.

My equipment is way of I switched weight and Req so I have to redo it. I will post it later, properly tomorrow.

male White Scars Devastator 5

Sorry for being so sluggish to respond, if I don't have a new loadout listed here by the time the mission proper starts, just consider me having taken the same loadout again.

It's all good.

My final req. list:

Terminator armour 60 req. Armour History: 1d10 ⇒ 10 To forget is to forgive. Forget nothing - Hatred (Tyranids)
Force sword 0 req.
Master-crafted Assault Cannon 60 req.
+Motion Predictor 20 req.
Psychic hood 25 req.

In total 165

My thoughts behind the selection above are Terminator armour w. helmet grants me protection to some degree combined with a decent parry action in melee. The Force sword is acceptable damage in melee. Master-crafted and Motion Predictor should compensate some for my somewhat lacking BS. The Assault cannon adds decent damage to hordes as well as other heavier armoured targets.

I have 35 req. left if anyone wants to spend them.

Was thinking of Korbin giving up his force field for the packag, you ccould get one for her... Dw conversion shield.

As for many taking master crafted weapons, not usually worth the req points for guns, only adds 2 damage and makes it reliable, doesn't jam, which is only a 5-10 percent chance, and even exceptional quality gives you +1 damage and reliable...

For melee weapons it's different, +10 WS from master crafted can be worth it, especially with force sword or a parry character in terminator suit that can't Dodge.

You could grab some special ammo for yourself.

Hellfire rounds cost an additional 25 req. for a clip, but they ignore natural armor which Tyranids almost always are only natural armor. They also have a chance of RF on a result of a 9 or 10, and hit hordes for extra damage.

^^I was wondering, for Heavy Bolters, Hellfire rounds changes the ROF to S/, does that mean it can't do full auto with Heavy bolter? Only S/? That's how I read it, doesn't make too much sense how they could be fired in semi/full on other weapons, but not a heavy bolter...Regardless, they'll be usefull here.

Something else I was doing that'll be too late now for this mission, but perhaps on another. Here's the idea:

It seems the DW books aren't exclusives, just additional, when it comes to equipment and such. They have unique equipment, but they are by no means limited to just whats in the DW books. RT and DH have many additional ammo options for example, for Melta, flamer, SP weapons, etc. They have forcefields, and plenty of archeotech and xenotech that aren't listed in any DW book. However, the DW books lists conversions for those systems so thing in their can be aquired, its just not easy for RT/DH people to get Marine's/DW unique equipment.

While its up to the GM, I think we should be allowed to pull from any book. I think he even mentioned we could or maybe that is a different game/GM. Can't recall, but next time I plan to try a few ammo types from the other books if allowed. Some things obviously won't work, not our size, but many things could. Anyways, a bit off topic, but something to think about.

Lastly, Sardus took a talent that allows him to benefit and do your Chapter attack/defense patterns, it costs an additional 2 cohesion points, but anyone with the talent could benefit, next level its 1 point. Could be useful, just know the option is there, its up to the brother who activates the ability, they can choose to pay the additional cost and let Sardus do it too.

Not sure about the Hellfire shells, I'll look that up when I have a minute.

Yes you can draw from other books subject to my approval, additionally I will actually let you make up equipment, psi powers, talents, etc. subject to my approval(although the process of approval for that is longer as I'll have to do research for comparison for each thing to see if it is somewhat balanced by comparison to similar abilities)

You guys have a week or two of in game time before the strike cruiser arrives at its destination, would you like to roleplay the travel a bit or jump to the arrival?

Also would you like to test the Divine Eagles for traitors as Morgan suggested? One way to do that would be to take DNA samples to test Geneseed origins, The Divine Eagles descend from Roboute Guilliman while the Alpha Legion from Alpharius, the difference would be obvious and nearly impossible to fake, however the test itself is invasive, as the primogenitor glands themselves must be tested.

Or you could look at their Chapter medical records, but if they are impersonating actual marines they have almost certainly found a way to fake the records.

Or Naaman could psychically interrogate each marine in your service.

Could be a bit paranoid but the Alpha Legion are well known for their ludicrously bold deceptions, perhaps better safe then sorry.

Yes iI gave some of those suggestions, though it's a bit paranoid, couldn't hurt. I gave the rouse of tyranid enamel treatment needing samples, psi powers? They could take offense, probably don't want to piss them off, then again we are the DW...

I've got just a bit to type out finishing Korbins upgrade, but that doesn't need attention, just my post when we arrive. I don't need to do anything else, we can investigate files and backgrounds, see probable infiltration periods... But Korbins happy to hAve bait , nice to catch another alive with a librarian close by.

Commanders call.

Nice info on freedom to create and explore other materials , awesome news as an armorer. Enjoying the game, nice to have more of us on this mission.

Yep, just adding detail to what you suggested with the DNA bit.

We'll see what Morgan says and either roleplay a bit or jump ahead, depending.

Yep, feel free to get creative. Generally speaking as long as an item or ability you invent is well defined mechanically and in line with things of similar power and cost I'm cool with it.

Glad you are enjoying the game=)

On another note I'm not sure if any of you are into Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay but I'll be launching a 2nd Edition game of that in the near(ish) future when I have finished crafting and tweaking the campaign for it.

It should be pretty epic and if any of you guys are interested in that I'll give you top spots in recruitment. (yay, gaming based nepotism-like? Gameitism?)

I will also buy the DW conversion field for the inquisitor. That should free some req. up for you.
