I could certainly see helping the Delve fight drow.
As for Iadenveigh, I'm not sure they won't go back on their word and try to kill us all for being polluted by outside ideas and not killing everyone they dislike. I seem to remember that they wanted the Delve leader killed. Saying it was a necromancer might not satisfy them. And then, there's the matter of their guards we'd have to deal with. Of course, that might be fun.
It's worth noting that there are a dozen flameslingers stationed in Iadenveigh, and all of them routinely cast scorching ray to fight off the zombie attacks. Many of you - Damrang especailly, given he's lived under their protection for a while - will realize that a pitched battle against the Flameslingers will, at this stage, only go one way.
I am certainly not vetoing a return to Iadenveigh. I just want to make it clear that some care will be required.
I agree with Gregory and Enginehouse. The Flameslingers will see us coming a mile away with that flying carpet. We'd be sitting ducks. Salvin would be happy fighting the good fight in the Delve. Not so sure how our Evangelist friend will be able to return that way, however.
In theory the Flameslingers might be in control of the town now if Obadiah blew the whistle on them, assuming he even made it there. Nobody there would really have the power to stop them taking over.
Vhailor is also aware of the flamesingers likely burning him into ash at this point. Twisties have fun scrolls to use so Vhailor has no issue hanging around... besides, he needs a tricked out boomstick from the Delvies first!
Salvin tried to kill me :) - he says it was an accident, but really who trusts Paladins right?
Mr Obadiah will love it when we meet up again... seeing as how Vhailor is now carrying a necromancer's spellbook and will hopefully be wielding a boomstick.
We already cleared the final hurdle, but if you have any interest in Midgard Tales and haven't signed up yet, you still have a few hours. The amount of content is amazing:
- Nearly 200 page Hardcover or Softcover Book (depending what level you buy in)
- 64 page Christina Stiles adventure
- 16 page Wolfgang Baur adventure
- Battlemats
- 32 page Legends of Midgard
You can get all of that for as little as $35 if you go all-electronic.
Will give it a good read and have a post up laters tonight, had a slamming day at work today.
I know the feeling. It is a bit of a wall - I wanted to get you guys into a position to start doing things rather than just putting up another post of you continuing to be talked at.
I’m sorry I have been gone for so long. I cannot explain everything that has happened, but between computer failures, weather problems and increased responsibilities at my two jobs I have not been able to participate in any online communities.
I apologize for taking so long to contact everyone about the changes in my home situation. I hope my absence has not been a major hindrance to anyone’s fun here on the forums.
I’m sending out this message now so everyone can plan accordingly. I will be unable to participate in any forum games for the foreseeable future. Please carry on without me (which shouldn’t be too hard since I haven’t been around for so long now).
I hope everyone is well and will continue to be so. I enjoyed my time here on the forums and my interactions with all of you. Thank you for understanding and patience.
Salvin, I wish you the best with everything you're going through. I've definitely enjoyed having you as a companion on this journey and hope that things settle down for you eventually so we might have you again.
Agreed, sorry circumstances meant I didn't spend longer playing alongside you man. Enjoyed it and look forward to doing so again, in this game or the next.
You've probably guessed this already, but I'm not going to be able to come back to running Smoke and Shadow. My lifestyle has changed since I decided to start running the campaign, and I just don't have the hours in the week required to do the preparation, world building and detailed posting required to produce a campaign that meets a standard I'm happy with. I've told myself over and over in the past months that I'll make time to start up S&S again next week...next week...next week...but it hasn't happened.
I owe it to you all to make a decision one way or the other, hence this message. Thank you so much for signing up and sticking with the game even when my updates got flaky. I'm sorry I can't give you all the conclusion you deserve.
Completely understand and thank you for the time that was shared during the PbP's run. I'd held out hope that we'd restart but having recently needed to do something similar I know when real life decides to rearrange your priorities.
Cheers and thanks,
Ephvailordrinkbitzle Falkonvilland
PS - could you please tag the campaign as inactive? That was it will drop off our campaign tabs.
