As curator, he's a caretaker. He, as far as i've seen, does not involve himself in mercentile business. The Blakroses and/or his own employees provide museum content. (Solstice Scar mentions his own employees)

Yeah, the Slush Fund reward is pretty cool. Not only does it give you minimum day job results, but they grow; the minimum is 25 gp for every two goals. It also reimburses you for "tolls, bribes, living expenses and other non-permanent costs" during a scenario, up to the amount of your day job check. So no more paying to stay at an inn, or for trail rations, etc.
As for the traveler's any-tool, it functions as a masterwork tool for all craft and profession checks, thus the +2 bonus. In the context of Profession (merchant), that could be skinned a number of ways; I'm thinking like an abacus to help with calculations to make sure you get all the fees owed.
