I'm recruiting for Jade Regent!
What Paizo says: When a decades-old secret is exposed, an unassuming local tavern-owner and a close friend of the PCs discovers her birthright is to rule one of the ancient Dragon Empires of Tian Xia—the empire of Minkai. Yet the current ruler of this empire, the mysterious and increasingly cruel Jade Regent, has no intention of giving up his hold over the throne. In order to save Minkai from a would-be tyrant, the PCs must not only escort their friend from Varisia to Tian Xia, braving the frozen horrors of the Crown of the World, but must aid her in gaining the trust and support of a nation on the edge of anarchy.
A Bit About Me and What I'm Looking For
I'm currently playing in this campaign and am enjoying it thoroughly, but feel the desire to DM it, it's that good. The player's guide is on the paizo site, of course. I'm looking for four players, that enjoy both role play and roll play aspects of the game. I do tend to prefer characters and backstories that seem in line with what's been written about Golarion, which seems like a more dark and less whimsical place than say, Faerun usually was. I've DMed for over ten years and I rarely see the opposite side of a screen in my group, so hopefully that means I do a good job. I've never done play by post, but I thought it might be hard to have four game days instead of just three, what with having lives and such.
Posting Requirements
I'd like people to check the boards a few times a day and post at least once. I do understand weekends being a bit busy, though.
Character Creation Guidelines
- 20 point buy.
- maximum hp at first level.
- average starting wealth
- alignments are not restricted, but you must be able to co-operate as part of a group in one way or another.
- classes - no restrictions, but do keep in mind that the player's guide mentions that firearms, their ammo and enhancements are not readily available throughout the campaign.
- the usual two traits, one from the campaign and one generic. That being said, I would like each of the four NPCs mentioned in the player's guide (Ameiko, Sandru, Koya and Shalelu)to have a PC 'attached' to them.
- Paizo content only, at this time. 3PP may be considered, case by case, but I'd really prefer to not go that route.
It's worth mentioning that I own the prequil game, "We Be Goblins". We had a BLAST playing as goblins in this short adventure and will run it if there's a desire to do so.
So, if you could post your race, stats, class (including archetypes or variants), a physical description and a backstory (including information relevant to the campaign trait you picked), I'll keep the thread going until May 18th and make my decision then.

Brennan Darkblade |

I'd like to submit Brennan Darkblade as scout and caravan guard. Though he hails from the Riverlands, he has made a fast friend with Sandru, and their shared backgrounds only make the bonds that much tighter. He specializes in knife fighting and stealthy missions, with a focus on acquiring things that others have.

Zander Vhiski |

I would like to propose Zander, the younger brother of Sandru. He is a Human Bard (Archaeologist). His traits are Younger Sibling and Nimble fingers, Keen Mind.

Let me know if you have any questions or what not.

Post for dotting.
Not sure what, but I favor martial classes, so probably something along those lines.
I do play in a lot of PBP's but I really, really want to play a Jade Regent game. As for post rate, I can make one a day, and often more. I tend to be most active after 5:30 pm CST.
Hmm... Maybe a bard.

Kravo Blaschkh |

I originally created Kravo Blashkh for a RotRL submission, but his background in the Linnorm Kingdom of the Ironbound Isles would work here too. Please have a look and consider - thanks.
6' 8" 300 lbs
A larger-than-life, tattooed, mountain of half-orc flesh with a growing paunch. Big, loud and in your face. He is driven by a passion for attaining all of life's earthly delights.
His voice is tremendous. He has a booming baritone which shakes you in the gut. The Averaka Skalds recognized his talent early and trained him in the meadhalls of Flintyreach and at the gatherings of Orcmoot. But the half-orc community of the Ironbound Isles is notorious for its warriors and reavers - not for nightingales. ..and Averaka skalds are noted warriors like everyone else. Kravo was conscripted aboard a longship and went a-viking down the coast toward Nidal. Stopping in Riddleport for emergency repairs the Viking Warriors of Averaka quickly drank themselves to oblivion. Meanwhile, Kravo discovered that the willing whores in port were far more interesting than the terrified spoils of coastal raiding...and he was fascinated by the diverse Varisian culture and cuisine (which he now indulges in to excess). As much as he loved the old Northern traditions - Kravo always aspired to concoct new sagas about strange lands, exotic women and heroic derring-do. He decided to abandon his half-orc comrades and flee into Varisia for inspiration/ He hooked up with a caravan and journeyed south to Sandpoint and settled down for a while. He finds the women in this town beautiful - especially as they are hard to get - but one beauty seems harder to get than the rest. For the first time Kravo is feeling an odd affliction. A strange illness which ties his tongue, causes his heart to palpitate and his voice to squeak - whenever he encounters her....
Half-Orc Bard 1 (Savage Skald) Age 20
Chaotic Neutral...moving toward Good

Post for dotting. [...] Maybe a bard.
Don't pick him, he's terri-bad. Just kidding! I'm a player in one of his games and it's been great so far.
My initial thought is a cleric of Desna or a druid of some kind; I'll try to get something up in the next day or two.
Anyway, here are the stats for my cleric. The basic idea is he's a youngster bored with being an apprentice Koya's understudy living in a small town in the middle of nowhere and wants nothing more than to see the world.
I still a lot of work to do, but I wanted to get the hard part finished first! There will be plenty of additions and revisions over the next week or so, but I also wanted to get this up for any constructive criticism people might have since I've never played a cleric before and trying to get out of my comfort zone a bit.

Brennan Darkblade |

Brennan has true multiple personalities. Unlike MPD, the personalities are fully aware of each other and often cooperate on tasks. No one really knows how this came about, but Brennan himself believes he has been touched by the gods - as a curse or blessing, he isn't sure which. Mechanics-wise, this has no real effect - though I do normally try and pick traits that advance skills to reflect a rapid learning of new skills through his unique mindset. but, for RP purposes, I find it fascinating. I have wanted to do this character for over a year, and just haven't yet found the right home.
The Guild is a shadowy organization I came up with, part Thieves' Guild and part Assassin's Guild. I envision Brennan as a basically good person who thrives on the endorphin rush he gets from infiltrating a stronghold and taking their most closely guarded possessions. He prides himself in never having to fight his way out of a house that he has entered, and refuses to contract to kill anyone, even if his unique skill set would be ideal for the job. You can imagine that someone with this streak of integrity (however narrow) would be at odds with a group who takes money to do all the things the Law is in place to protect against.
As for how far The guild would go to track Brennan down, in his mind they are around every corner and could show up at any time. In reality, though Brennan represents a significant investment in time and training on their part, leaders of The Guild see that they profited handsomely from his skills, but aren't too concerned about his disappearance. For them, it is more along the lines of paying back a disloyal member of the family. Agents have been alerted of Brennan's disappearance, and a general order to look out for the unusual half-breed has been given, but there are no active parties hunting for him...yet. Again, it makes for a nice RP plot-hook for the GM if you want it.
Sandru would definitely be aware of Brennan's speech patterns and what they signify. The two have become like brothers, and Brennan has confided most of his life's story to Sandru. Others would probably pick up on the speech pattern fairly quickly, but might attribute it to unfamiliarity with the language, a rural accent, or what have you at first. Only with a fairly high amount of exposure would you realize the underlying cause...or if Brennan gave it away, as he did in the campfire story in his background.
Anything else?

Hijiro |

I'm sure he has friends in Sandpoint after having been there for a couple of years. He is a little bit shy around humans, but not overly so, having a generally open personality and a winning smile in his human guise, which he stays in always in public in Sandpoint. He probably has lots of friends among the children and young people of Sandpoint because he loves to use his gift for comedy and sleight-of-hand together to entertain them just for the fun of it. He has even discovered a couple of street kids with a knack for the skill and has taught them a little sleight-of-hand skills, just beginning skills for now, like how to roll a coin on the backs of their fingers and palm small objects. He doesn't think of it as training rogues as much as training 'magicians'. I am guessing a couple of the 'kids' he entertained are almost his own age and now his friends.
He tries to keep clear of Belor, the local sheriff, just on general principles. Even though he doesn't steal for a living here (he probably did a little when he first arrived, until he got established with a job), the sheriff makes him nervous.
As for liking Sandpoint, he probably loves it. It is a new town without a lot of rules complicating life here, and no parents telling him what to do or how to live. He is young and does have a little bit of wanderlust, but at first he was just a lost soul who didn't speak the language and needed some stability. His adoration of Ameiko is enough to keep him wanting to stay in Sandpoint, plus he's grown to like the place. He also secretly believes that somehow the Sandpoint light might hold a secret for sending him back home, just like the torii in Minkai sent him here.
As for earning a living, he'd sure, use a little sleight-of-hand and his comedic skills to earn a few extra coppers, but his 'day job' would be working for the local locksmith as an assistant or apprentice.
He'd like to return to Minkai, but if he can't, he's happy enough in Sandpoint for the time being. Then again, he'd be happy wherever Ameiko is :). He is fascinated with the Sandpoint light, especially when it is lit up, but he's too afraid to actually touch it. He does spend a lot of time around it when he has free time, especially at the full moon, since it was a full moon when the torii activated to send him here. So far, nothing has happened, obviously.
He does miss his family and home, despite the fact that he ran away from their tight control over him. He misses the company of other kitsune as well, but that is pretty much secondary to him being young and in love. He has become used to Sandpoint and thinks of it as being his home now. He might even wish to travel some, maybe taking on as a caravan guard or traveling with adventurers.. The few times he's had an opportunity to do so, the idea of being away from Ameiko for an extended period (and perhaps a little fear of the Sandpoint Devil) have kept him in Sandpoint.
Right now, he'd like his future to hold more than an occasional friendly glance from Ameiko. A touch even? Kind words? Right now, she probably just barely tolerates his presence in the tavern where he occasionally does a little 'street magic' to entertain a few patrons from time to time. He does buy a drink from time to time Though he isn't a heavy drinker, he buys enough to keep from being thrown out of the place lol.
Given a chance to join a large caravan going to Minkai - especially if Ameiko is going to be a part of it, he would definitely jump at the opportunity. He would be torn between the two if she weren't going along.
I hope this answers all your questions, but please feel free to ask more if you have some.

Shisa LeCroix |

Shianne is a descendant of Tian Shu stock. Her gradparents emigrating to Tian Xia while they were newly married in search of adventure and fortune. Through a series of adventures (or as Grandmother used to say, "mis-adventures") the couple found themselves in Sandpoint, broke and with child, the later point made Grandmother's eyes used to twinkle at memories she never divulged.
With her mother dying in childbirth and father running off to do whatever running fathers do, Shianne found herself being raised by her maternal grandparent. As a child growing up, Shianne used to love listening stories told by Old Niska while her grandmother and Niska would sit by the fire drinking tea and chatting.
Always athletic and with a love for climbing, sneaking around, and generally trying to be as unobtrusive as possible. One summer day, shortly after her thirteenth summer, she herself deep in the nearby woods she deftly climbing trees, jumping from one to another. Sensing another presence, she turned to look, but saw no one. Undaunted, she continued her play, several times trying to catch a glimpse of whomever, or whatever was taking an interest. Always to no avail.
On the day, month later, her Grandmother died, she found herself in the now empty home, wondering what was to become of her since her only family was now gone. She opened the door to go draw water for cooking and found an older man standing there. "Come child," he said simply, "and I will train you to use your talents." Without looking back, the man turned and walked away. Shrugging her shoulders, Shianne followed.
The next few years flew by in a blur of sore muscles, bruises, long days and short nights learning things left unspoken to any but those she trained with. Little news of the outside world reached her ears other than an occasional overheard snippet while tucked away in the secluded area where she trained. Words of Runelords and uprisings were overheard but never enough to put pieces together. When she ventured to ask, Grandmaster Ute Kyosu simply smiled and said, "One day it will make sense. But for now, your knowledge must remain vague so that your skills can be used without prejudice."
She was given a few assignments as part of her training. Usually they involved gathering information which she found challenging. Once she was tasked to put some herbs in a local village elder's tea. Posing as a courtesan made it easy, but the results were a bit distasteful to her, preferring to watch and listen for information over watching someone's face turn blue and listening to their wheezing attempts at drawing breath as their life ebbed away.
As she grew older, Shianne wandered away for a time to seek her own path, the remembered stories always bringing a smile when she travelled. That is.. until a message came that Old Niska was dying.
Shianne rushed to her side, travelling day and night to get there. Old Niska pulled Shianne close and asked a single favor.."Watch over Koya." More may have been said.. but that will be Shiann's secret to tell.. if she does.

Shalelu has been all over the world and seen many things, did she take you with her on any of her trips? If so, where's the farthest you've been? What is Kordan's opinion of Shalelu? How did Kordan come into her care? Has he been to Sandpoint often? Was he there for any of the Late Unpleasantness or the events of Rise of the Runelords? Has he been very isolated from people and how has that effected his demeanor?
Kordan was found by Shalelu when he was young, taken into her care when he was an outcast on the edge of Sandpoint and accompanied her on her travels, feeling a kinship for the outdoors with her. They both preferred to travel and he learned much of survival from her as his mentor. Kordan has strong feelings of respect for Shalelu but he is terrible at putting anything into words so he has remained simply her student, but he hopes to one day become someone who she thinks of highly.
Kordan often visits Sandpoint when he is in the area, but he never stays for too long, not wishing to become too used to the 'soft' civilized life. He was not around during the events of RotRL(Haven't played that AP) but he has heard bits and pieces here and there when he comes to town to trade and sell hunted food or things he finds in the wilderness. Due to his isolation and lack of contact with people his manners and demeanor have suffered, and he finds it difficult to be around people without them forming predispositions about him, so it takes him longer then most to make new friends.

Mary Roseblossom |

Presenting Mary Roseblossom a halfling cleric of abadar who was accepted into another game that has since stopped. Never made it past the second encounter in the first book.
Growing up in Sandpoint. It was a peaceful and pleasant experience yet it had its share of excitement as well. Who would have thought that such a small quiet coastal settlement would have such heinous tradegies in its past? Certainly not Mary's family when they decided to settle down and raise a family. Mary's father was a traveling merchant, who after years of toiling away, managed to save enough money to purchase a small house in Sandpoint proper. Like most small towns, a new family was considered an 'outsider', but with his good nature and easy laugh, he won the townsfolk over quickly.
It wasn't long before Mary was born and the first few years of her life were lived in peaceful ignorance. For even though the Roseblossom's were now accepted member of the society, no one told them of the goblin problems in the surrounding areas. Unfortunately Mary learned about it the hard way. This the account of that day a few years ago.
It was time for the annual swallowtail festival. People had gathered around from all across the surrounding lands. There was even some merchants from Magnimar who Mary's father was speaking to quite entusiastically. His conversation was along the lines of procuring an apprenticeship for his daughter. Mary and him had talked before about her joining him on a merchant trip where he could bestow upon her the family tradition. However, being past middle age, he was getting too old to travel and share the knowledge he gained with his daughter. Thus when a group of merchants agreed to take Mary on, he was delighted to share the news with his daughter.
Mary took the news well even though it broke her heart to know that her father was not going to be accompanying her on the trip. Still it was the opportunity that both of them had been hoping for. During this first meeting a large disturbance was coming from across the field. Suddenly, from out of nowhere, a goblin appeared clutching a strange looking weapon. A quick slash and the goblin was gone. Mary stood frozen in shock. Her father didn't know what happened either until he saw the blood beginning to pour out from behind Mary's hands. It was all too apparent what happened but that knowledge wasn't going to do any good. Mary was falling and would soon be gone from this world.
Out of the blue, an old woman came hurrying along. It was Koya Mvashti. Not losing her composure at all, Koya knelt down and prayed to Desna that the healing may be granted to spare this child the pain and suffereing and possible death that was closing in around her.
Through a haze Mary recognized the act that Koya performed and that act would go on to stay with her her entire life.
After Mary recovered from the gobiln attack, she agreed to her father's request and went with the Magnimar merchants. It wasn't long before the merchants noticed the distinct abilities that Mary possessed. Wether it was due to Koya's intervention or some other influence, Mary began to study merchantilism with the Abadarian priests. It wasn't long before she began to see what appeared to be unrelated incidents were actully an intricate web leading her on this path. Taking this as a sign from Abadar, she devoted herself to his cause.
Shortly after completing her training, Mary returned to Sandpoint to help her father and spread the virtues of Abadar in this small community. DUnfortunatly Mary's father contracted a disease that she could not cure. She was able to spend the last few months with him. During this time, she also would study with Koya when her father would sleep. Mary tried to learn all she could of healing from Koya. When her father did pass it was Koya who helped ease Mary's suffering.
With her father passing, Mary's mother decided to leave Sandpoint for her homeland where some of her old friends lived and could care for her. There were too many memories and she needed a fresh start. SO it was that Mary had few ties remaining to the town she grew up in and loved, Koya and her father's shop. The thoughts that pass through her mind at least once every hour are, Perhaps tomorrow will be the day that I leave and become a travelling merchant like my father. Not only would that fulfill my duty to Abadar, but that is the best honor I can bestow upon my father. Love you Dad. Hope to make you proud.
Profile has stat info

Kravo Blaschkh |

Sorry, I maybe didn't make Kravo's association with his NPC clear. Is there anything else I need? The crunch is in the profile.
Kravo basically has a crush on Ameiko. He arrived in Sandpoint for some R&R after his recent pillaging campaign with a company of Half-Orc reavers had been cut short. They were layed up in Riddleport. During an orgiastic drunken binge he gave his company the slip and ventured by caravan south to Sandpoint, where he found the climate and people congenial....especially the food, the drink and the women. He spent the remainder of his ill- gotten gains in the taverns gambling ,feasting, guzzling, singing and cavorting. He is a brash and overconfident loud- mouth. He is also a skillful singer of old heroic sagas - especially the extremely violent half-orc versions from his home country.
He has a friendly professional relationship with his fellow bard Ameiko - who recognizes his talent and has invited him to sing for her patrons a few times. His performances are great for beverage sales - unfortunately they tend to end in brawls - so she only welcomes him when she needs extra cash. She has no idea of his crush on her. Around her he feels gutless - or rather - he is full-gutted - but now uncharacteristically self conscious about it...
Right now he is short on cash and down in the dumps. He could use some adventure to inspire him. He will get off of his fat ass if it means he can do something which will appear heroic in Ameiko's eyes.

No one is really sure how old Wanwa'lasse is. No one knows who her parents were, or if they escaped from the events that lead to her coming to Sandpoint. All that is really known is that she is very, very scared of goblins.
Shalelu found her after killing the half-dozen goblins that had somehow gotten a hold of the young half-elf. She was in a lot of pain and barely alive. Her body was covered in cuts and gashes, the worst one almost spilling her guts out. Shalelu took the bloody girl back to Sandpoint to the church. They managed to save her life, but her body was scarred, and her mind was shattered by the trauma.
She was raised by the wandering elven ranger. Shalelu taught her how to read the lay of the land, to use a bow, even how to dress game she killed. The elf asked her where she was from soon after she recovered. Wanwa'lasse didn't know. The only thing she remembered from before awakening in the church were the goblins taunting her, threatening her, and the pain. Not knowing what else to call her, Shalelu gave her the nickname Wanwa Lasse, Lost Leaf. The young half-elf took as her own and soon those who knew her began calling her Wanwa'lasse or Leaf.
When she was of about twenty-three winters, Shalelu took her on one of her trips and they ran across a band of goblins preparing an ambush. They quickly dispatched them, and Wanwa'lasse handled herself well. After the skirmish, though, she broke down in fear. She cried in terror and clung to her mentor like her life depended on it. After that they returned to Sandpoint and the half-elf stayed behind.
It's been two years and Wanwa'lasse has grown restless. She still fears goblins, but she has slowly begun coping with that fear. She wants to go out again, and intends to ask Shalelu when she is ready for her next trip if she can come.
Hopefully there won't be goblins.
The more isolationist members of the community often call her "The Mute". Most of the others think her to be a loner, but a few have managed to get through the walls Wanwa'lasse has constructed around herself to get at the person inside. Ameiko is one of those and has even begin teaching the young woman to how to cook.

Edward Sobel |

here is the propsed background for my submission will work on the mechanics soon...
Lou has no memory of his origins his last known memory was as child growing up in a monastery with no memory of either a father or mother.
The Temple of lasting peace was a small monastery a few miles inland from a little town known as Sandpoint.
Lou would spend is time at the temple learning the ways of the priesthood and to find “inner peace”. While this seemed all well and good, Lou was not exactly the learning kind He enjoyed more physical pursuits such as wrestling and other sports as well as getting into trouble.
It wasn’t long before the temple had decided that Lou was not going to be a part of the priesthood. So he was cast out at the age of 12 and sent to the Sandpoint Cathedral to be put to work there until of an age he could live on his own.
Lou would spend his free time meeting the other children of Sandpoint, playing games and going exploring. At was during these years he befriended Ameiko not realizing that this acquaintance would later become a working relationship.
Lou also came into contact with an old beggar that would wander the streets of Sandpoint looking for handouts. Lou and the beggar became friends rather quickly as Lou would attempt to get Ameiko to give up some food or spare coin for his beggar friend.
The beggar always went by the name Yen but Lou never knew if that was his real name or not.
After some time Yen showed Lou where he actually lived, it was a small shack just outside of Sandpoint along the road past the bridge near Undercliff way.
Yen said He would help Lou make something of himself he said that he sees potential in him. Lou readily agreed and was soon training with Yen in the art of unarmed combat. Lou’s training was hard but after a few long years Lou learned the art of drunken fighting as well as several other styles. Many of which he never fully mastered but maybe with more practice and time he would learn them all.
Lou returned to Sandpoint only to discover that his old acquaintance Ameiko was now the owner of the Rusty Dragon. Lou pleaded with her to give him a chance at work and Ameiko soon agreed (though hesitantly). Lou worked the bar some nights and the kitchen other nights.
And as time went on Lou realized watching Ameiko was all he really wanted. It would seem that his acquaintance had grown to a crush.
NOTES that Lou has no idea about:
1] He is descendant of the Shojinawa the Family (one of the five ruling families of MinKai) this family was the smallest and most indiscreet families of them all.
2] He has no understanding of his bloodline.
3] At a time when it seemed that the Oni of the Five Storms was seeking out all the families some of the Shojinawa fled with Amatatsu family. In fact it is believed that Lou’s Ancestors may have been posing as servants to the Amatatsu family. And they may have never realized it.
4] Lou’s real name is Lou Yein Shojinawa but he has always been called Lou
5] Lou’s real parents gave him up to the monastery when they realized that the Oni might be closing in on them to protect the family line.

Jirin Tupel |

Crunch has been revised slightly, and I've completed a first draft of Background, Personality, and Appearance. Background is reposted here in response to your questions, Cele.
When and how did he get called or drawn into the faith of Desna? What part of her doctrine does Jirin feel is the most important? What's his relationship with Koya like? Does he have family in town? Does he have a profession outside of studying under Koya? What does he feel a cleric's job or duty is? Was he there during the events of The Late Unpleasantness and Rise of the Runelords?
Jirin's grandparents moved to Sandpoint shortly after the town's founding more than 40 years ago. Tailors and weavers, the Tupels worked hard to earn a living despite the frequent setbacks imposed by the surroundings of their new home. The shared danger brought the Tupels together with the other town families, with whom they quickly make friends. The Tupels are closest with the Mvashti family; indeed, old Niska (who'd been old when they arrived) had helped them settle in when they first arrived.
The Tupel family has become firmly established in Sandpoint town life. Jirin has several aunts and uncles, and numerous cousins. With such a large family, Jirin roamed the town with a pack of cousins in his early childhood, exulting in the freedom to run and explore. His own explorations, coupled with hanging around outside tavern windows to overhear travelers' tales, only fed his imagination to see and do such wonderful things for himself. Unfortunately, it was the latter night-time excursions that got him in trouble with his understandably worried parents.Concerned about how to rein the boy in, Jirin's parents consulted with Niska and Koya who, in a surprise proposition, offered to take Jirin on as an apprentice. Jirin's parents were skeptical, but old Niska was able to convince them that the boy might harbor depths yet unplumbed. Surprising himself even more than his parents, Jirin came to love the training and dove headfirst into the reading of books (where else could such fantastic tales be found?), learning of languages (how exotically mysterious!), and the ultimately much more important part of communing with the goddess of (his most favorite thing in the whole wide world) travel and exploration.
The Late Unpleasantness has had a dramatic effect on Jirin. Too young to help his friends and family against the goblins, he instead helped clean up the messes. The helplessness at not being able to take part has unfortunately fueled frustration that he'll never be able to do something! and instead be stuck in this boring, old town for the rest of his life. In his frustration, he lashed out at Koya - by then almost like a second mother to him - who'd never left the area and, being so old! likely never would. Even knowing at the time he was wrong to do so, he still stormed out of the Mvashti house and went home to sulk. Several days later, old Niska called him over while Koya was out and spoke with him that Koya herself longed for greater travels and that, as her dying wish, she wanted him to accompany Koya and help keep her safe should Koya actually make such a journey.
As a young man, Jirin has a great deal to learn. While he loves his calling to Desna, he's focused on only a part of what it means to be a true cleric of her following - leaving aside the other parts of her whom he worships not so much through avoidance as oversight.

Do you have a deadline for submissions?
Sorry, jut noticed it is may 18th.
I'd like to submit Balthazar Andor, but I have a few questions before writing up his background...
I was thinking of taking the childhood crush on Koya, but she's not listed as a possible "target" for the crush - probably due to her age. It states she's over 60, but nt her real age. I wanted Balthazar to have a lifelong, platonic love for Koya, since he first met her as a healer when she was a boy, during one of her travels through his monastery in the Fogscar mountains, north of Sandpoint. He spent the last 40 years sporadically corresponding with her through letters, and built a friendship though he's never stopped loving her. Ok, there's an age difference there, and that's my concern. I don't mind Balthazar being old, but I'm a little concerned about the cumulative aging penalties, that would hinder him as a front-liner melee character, so I stopped at the middle-aged template. Is that ok? Would you allow such backstory? Otherwise I can adapt it to tie him to Shalelu, it's just that I like the concept of this pure, "elderly" love between two people who at the end of their lives feel they have wasted it an now seek to leave on blaze of glory. :)
