I'd like to submit Brennyn Varron, my Urban Barbarian who hails from Sandpoint and works as a caravan guard.


Cele: I know in the OP you indicated that you were leaving the recruitment open until May 18th, but it seems like you have a lot of interest and builds already submitted. Some fantastic backgrounds and characters were developed. Is there any change that your tough recruitment decisions are made earlier? Swaying back and forth, biting lower lip hoping for a positive response. Thanks.

I was thinking of taking the childhood crush on Koya, but she's not listed as a possible "target" for the crush - probably due to her age. It states she's over 60, but nt her real age. I wanted Balthazar to have a lifelong, platonic love for Koya, since he first met her as a healer when she was a boy, during one of her travels through his monastery in the Fogscar mountains, north of Sandpoint. He spent the last 40 years sporadically corresponding with her through letters, and built a friendship though he's never stopped loving her. Ok, there's an age difference there, and that's my concern. I don't mind Balthazar being old, but I'm a little concerned about the cumulative aging penalties, that would hinder him as a front-liner melee character, so I stopped at the middle-aged template. Is that ok? Would you allow such backstory? Otherwise I can adapt it to tie him to Shalelu, it's just that I like the concept of this pure, "elderly" love between two people who at the end of their lives feel they have wasted it an now seek to leave on blaze of glory. :)

There is no trait for childhood crush on Koya but all the NPCs have relationship scores and thus you can probally attempt a romance with any of them, you don't need a special trait for that. Just take a trait that does relate to Koya for the one time +4 relationship bonus to your score.

Story:
The waves were crashing hard. His fur was damp and his face was matted with tears. The boy's grandmother, a slender and graceful woman with such remarkable features that calling her anything other than beautiful wouldn't do her justice, looked down at her grandson sadly. Only a few weeks ago she had found her daughter and son-in-law murdered in their home, her grandson asleep in the next room. What the little boy didn't know was that this was to be the last time he would ever see her again. She had become very ill on the trip across the sea and she knew that the end of her days were coming.
"I love you" She said, finally. She sat down, held the boy and gave him a pat on the head.

The young man remembers none of what had taken place that day, but today walks a different road. A family was nice enough to take him, as they felt pity for the old woman, begging them to take her grandson as he had nobody and she was dying. They did what any good family does and raised him as one of their own, regardless of his differences. Before she died, she had told them, "His name is Akira, give him this scroll when he is 9 and force him to study it. This is his heritage, this is what his parents left to him."

When the family was on the way to their hometown of Sandpoint with a Kitsune baby in tow, they encountered a Caravan troupe headed back as well. A woman named Koya Mvashti had been with the caravans, she knew the family and was very intrigued by the little Kitsune bundle they had brought back with them.

After hearing the story of how they came to be carrying Akira, Koya's heart reached out to the young boy, she had an adopted son who's parents were both dead as well. His name is Sandru Vhiski.

Akira and Sandru grew up together and were best friends. Sandru would always come back from caravan trips and run straight over to Akira's house. They would spend all day, Sandru telling stories about traders and different cities, Akira listening. Sandru's life sounded very exciting to young Akira, while Sandru was out seeing the world, Akira spent much time reading and studying the traditions of his true parents. His parents now only told him that they had met his grandmother and did not know anything about them, other than that they left him with the scroll he is supposed to study.

After some time had past and the boys were older, Sandru kept coming back talking about how his mother Koya was pushing him to go on a long journey and wasn't sure when he would be coming back. Akira, in the meantime, had become practiced in the ways and techniques of his family. Their abilities were very detailed and required hundreds of hours of practice. Akira had spent alot of his time alone, waiting for his friend Sandru to come back. Feeling like he could only do so much with the scroll he realizes that leaving Sandpoint would be the first step to his road of becoming a Ninja. That is his heritage.

Personality:
Shadow is very loyal to his friends. He has a precise manner about him, which is contrary to the easy way in which he speaks.

Thanks. This is attempt number three to get into a Jade Regent game, so maybe I'll get lucky.


I actually made Akira for an inner sea campaign, but the story lines up so much with the Jade Regent game, it was practically impossible to resist putting in a submission.

That is funny, I completely understand. A comma here, a rephrased statement there, and character looks completely different then when original posted. There are some great characters enough for three or more full campaigns. Tough decisions. Good luck to everyone.


Hey guys, sorry for the delay. I had a busy day with family. I will most likely end the submissions much sooner and there are a lot of really excellent character submissions. I've got more giant walls of text coming that I will submit tomorrow! I do apologize and will get caught up within the next twelve hours, max! About the childhood crush Koya trait, I'd allow it and do like the flavour. I promise to not leave you guys hanging for much longer, but the Mother's Day weekend's been much busier than my average weekend! Thanks for understanding!

That's perfectly ok, after all you did say that you would understand if the weekends could be busy, so of course we can understand if yours is to!

As for our submission qualities, I doubt it will for most if not all be a problem meeting the standard, however the question is: Do our character stand out in a way that makes it seem better for the game according to Celes. We will have to wait and see. Good luck to us all :)

@Shianne - you know a ninjas ki pool is derived from their cha, right? Plus, would you really have those weapons even though we start in sandpoint and not Tian?

@Edward - that was just my little subtle way of suggesting thatthe person party doesnt need to fill based on a balancing of the traditional party formula and could be as unbalabced as the 4 person group consisting of 3 stealth types and a healing class.

I've never been one to max points in key stats as I would rather build the character according to a concept. Can hurt during crunch times, but makes it more enjoyable for me to play :)

IMHO, having a high charisma isn't in keeping with someone who spent most of her childhood trying to go unnoticed. Higher dex fits in with her childhood habit of climbing trees and trying to act like a squirrel :)

As Sai and Kama are both common farming implements, it wouldn't take much to add a length of chain to a kama. So yes, I can see her having these particular weapons. As for the katana.. perhaps there's a story yet untold behind that ;)

Ninja to me is someone who's really good at blending in. So if you were trying to go unnoticed, as a ninja, it would make sense that your charisma was so high.nso you could blend in by looking like someone no one is interested in talking to.

So she seem to have focused on being able to be unseen, hiding from sight more then blending in and being one of the crowd. It is just another way of accomplishing the same. Shianne formal training enhanced her abilities just as Akira's did, but I would think that Shianne probably relies more on her stealth, while Akira might rely more on his ability to fit in that is disguise and social skills.. or maybe a balanced approach of both approaches.

Like Shianne, the game that Mary was in is now back on. Actually it is with Shianne as well. Good luck all and have fun.


While Juruan is currently associated with Shalelu, I would be more than willing to switch to another of the 4, as would be needed or as to not build up all one of the NPCs. I would change the background to fit as well.

Appearance: Juran is an average sized gnome. His hair is a vibrant spring green and kept in long spikes, showing a wildness in the young gnome. He has soft warm amber colored eyes that can show there is a wisdom and caring there, when he chooses to act in his better nature. He complexion is a deep earthy brown. He has several tribal-like tattoos up his arms and across his back. He also as scars from his many youthful run ins. Most notable claw marks down his neck and chest and large bite mark on his left arm.

The gnome wears a suite of studded leather armor and carries a falchion across his back. He also carries a long bow, short sword at his waist, and several daggers. A small wooden symbol to Cayden Cailean about his neck.

Demeanor: Juran is a brash youth and for the wisdom in the young gnome still might rush into a situation before considering it. Like many a gnome, he searches for adventure wherever he might find it.

Background: Juran is from Sipplerrose within the Sanos Forest of central Varisia. As a young gnome the forest called to him and he answered the call with all his being. He would roam as far as his could and feel safe. He has run into more than a few situations that showed he was well out of his element, but he kept coming back for more.

It was within the last decade or so that he came across the elven Shalelu Andosana. At first wary of the elf but soon became brave enough to approach her. With a smile at knowing when the gnome was about she greeted him. He would sit with the elf and listen to her tales. He came to ask Shakelu if she would instruct him in the ways of her craft. She agreed whenever she was within the area she would show Juran what she knew. So began his instruction in what it was to truly be a ranger.

Just in the last year the pair encountered and heinous creature that attacked and killed many. They hunted down the barghest known as Hrotos, only to arrive far too late to save so many villagers. The pair thought to corner the beast within it's lair, but it escaped through a secreted entry. The things he saw during this hunt, haunt him to this day.


For your reading enjoyment I have been working on some improvements in the fluff for Kravo. I added some new flavour text to explain his traits, skills and feats....as well as some detail about his NPC relationship.

I also corrected some of the errors in the crunch.

His character remains essentially the same. I am open to suggestions.

I made a small addition to the backgound; essentially, accounting for the reason why she is in Sandpoint.


Here's Balthazar Andor, human monk, complete with crunch, backstory and appearance.


Here is Rauno Kaln, human fighter (Tactician archetype) from Sandpoint who has called Ameiko friend for many years. Crunch is still in progress, but the information below is pretty much complete and the ability stats can be found in the profile.

Background

Born to the union between a Varisian merchant and Magnimarian seamstress, Rauno was birthed in the small town of Sandpoint after his parents left Magnimar to live with his father's family. Raised a firm believer in Varisian culture, Rauno spent much of his young childhood with his grandmother, who taught the boy simple parlor tricks with the weak magical talent that flowed through his blood. However, as he grew, Rauno was never able to learn beyond the simple trick taught to him. Instead, Rauno began helping his father in the small shop his family had set up. The work his father had him do in the storage room saw to it that the young man began to build his stamina and develop his strength.

Years past with him learning the basics of merchant craft, but what pay he was given by his mother, the record keeper of the family business, was quickly splurged on one interest or another. That mixed with his general lack of interest in the merchant's life let to him dreaming of other pursuits. Rauno and his family developed rapport with many of the townsfolk and were even able to build friendships with some important people within the town. Though much effort Rauno's family even built a good business relationship with the Kaijitsu's, a move that ultimately helped his family find a firm foothold in the small town. Through his father's close ties with one of the founding families, Rauno met Ameiko. At that time, both were only 11 years of age and quickly became friends. Over the following years, they spent alot of time together and though nothing romantic came of their friendship, they learned to almost completely trust each other. So it was a surprise when, 5 years after their meeting Ameiko had her falling out with her family that drew Ameiko into a life of adventure. Upon learning of Ameiko's flight from Sandpoint, Rauno was at first saddened at his friends sudden desire to leave. However, that also inspired Rauno to chase his own dreams. Unfortunately, it wasn't until a few years later that a visiting representative from Magnimar provided the right opportunity for Rauno to change his stars.

A swordsman passing through Sandpoint on his way to Magnimar literally stumbled into the 20 year old Rauno one day as the lad was going about his errands. Well into his drink, the swordsman believed Rauno to be an attacker and lashed out. Even with no martial training, Rauno was able to dodge the drunk before catching another fist right to the face. Staggered from the wild swing, he attempted to calm the drunk, fearing that the man would hurt someone else should he continue. After a short scuffle, the swordsman began to calm and he was impressed with Rauno's bravery in standing up to a determined attacker. Offering to vouch for Rauno, the swordsman suggested that Rauno go with him to Magnimar, where he would train as a district guard. Seeing this as his chance to follow in Ameiko's steps, Rauno agreed. Though his father was none to happy, he allowed Rauno to travel to Magnimar in search of his dream.

However, after being accepted as a guard in training, Rauno soon learned that the regimented life of a city guardsman was not for him. His own Varisian beliefs coupled with how his views clashed with those of his superiors saw that Rauno often was punished for his actions on duty. It was something that Rauno could never understand, what good was law if it didn't protect help those it was meant to protect. However, his time in training did teach the man group coordination and similar tactics as well as how to relate to people, training that he took with him when he decided to leave his post. Several years after he entered Magnimar with aspiration to become a guard, he found himself living with very little to call his own. As such, he decided to return to Sandpoint, much to the joy of his family.

Upon arriving, he was greeted by his loving mother and his father. Unhappy to have seen his son leave, and even more so when Rauno had expressed his interest in traveling for a bit to test himself, Rauno's relationship with his father just went form bad to worse. However, with his new skill set, Rauno didn't see the point of returning to the life of a merchant. The sheriff, hearing of Rauno's return as a trained guardsman, quickly approached him with a job offer. Not wanting to return to life as a guardsman, Rauno refused. However, once he heard that Ameiko had returned to Sandpoint as well,Rauno decided to stick around for a while to catch up with his friend. Taking the job as a town watchman, Rauno found that work in Sandpoint was much less regimented and much more to his liking.

Becoming comfortable in his life as a guardsman, Rauno spent what time he was not working either with his family, or helping Ameiko at the Rusty Dragon. Through these means he was able to catch up on all the events he had missed while he was away. Through he was glad to be back among friends and family, he got the sense that his friend Ameiko was not quite at ease. This feeling started to affect him as well and he found himself once more wishing to see what else was out in the world.

Personality

Boisterous to a fault, it is easy to see how it is that Rauno has so many friends within Sandpoint. Even with his skill with the blade and his training in tactics, Rauno would prefer to to work things out through diplomacy and cooperation than threats of violence. However, should he see someone take action that offends his sense of good, he is the first to speak out against that person and he is not above bending the law to find the culprit of a crime. When it comes to people, Rauno accepts people for their flaws but condemns for their actions and his life living with his Varisian family has taught him the benefits that honeyed words can bring.

Description

Spoiler:
Decked out in the tarnished scale mail of a guardsman, Rauno has a longsword belted at his waist and a wooden shield strapped to his left arm. His brown hair is kept loose and frames the darkened complexion of his skin that gives away his Varisian heritage. When not dressed for duty, he wears colorful clothing in differing shades of blue and brown. He wears tough, dark brown boots and has a dagger hilt peaking out of the top of his right boot. He always seems to wear a smile on his face and his hazel eyes are bright and seem to take in his surroundings.

What does Sienna do for Jubrayl? Is she a 'known' member of the Sczarni? She's a member of the Wildwood Lodge, right? Was she part of the ceremony where they commune with the Circle Between? Has she met any fey or magical creatures? Is she completely over her fear? What is her most fond memory with Sandru? What is her relationship like with Koya?

Is the fact that Akira is a kitsune common knowledge? Does Sandru know? Is Akira friends with Sandru's brother? Does he know about his involvement with the Szcarni? Is the Hakanochi clan one primarily dealing in information, sabotage and subterfuge or do they also assassinate people? Does Akira believe or know that there are more of his clan out there? Does he know where he's from originally?

Brennyn Varron:
What are Brennyn's goals, besides getting out of Sandpoint and away from home? What is his relationship with Sandru like? Did he fall in with the Szcarni or other criminal elements? I also noticed the Azlanti pureblood as a race and do know that Aroden was the last Azlanti pureblood. It also wouldn't make much sense for his family's name and location. They'd have to be at least partially Tian and, if there was Azlanti, it would have likely been diluted. I'm aware that different traits can just pop up randomly out of the gene pool, but this one I'd like to see changed. They're also supposed to be an 'ultimate human race' with +2 to everythinng, rules wise and I'd just rather not.But besides that, what sort of temple was the Temple of the Lasting Peace ( I don't recall it from Rise of the Runelords or anything)? By 'and they may have never realized it', we're talking about the oni, right? What was Yen doing out in Sandpoint and why did he teach Lou these arts? Is he still alive? Does anyone know Lou's real name or what that means?

Questions:
Why does Jenar feel Shalelu took her on adventure with her, rather than leaving her with someone?

Jenar was quite young, only 14, when the horrendous event occurred in her life. Initially, Jenar believed it was because of kindness, even a sense of responsibilty towards her. As she grew, she understood it was to instill a sense of independence upon her. For Jenar knows, she is the last surviving member of her family; and ultimately, she must be self sufficient.

She has been left for a period of time with the elves, where she did recieve more "book" education. This is where she actually learned to read and write elven, not just conversation.

Has Jenar met the other main NPCs?

Jenar has met each of the other NPCS. She is the closest to Ameiko Kaijitsu and can be found sleeping in the Rusty Dragon store room on occassion. Jenar likes Kaijitsu and appreciates the warmth of the tavern on cold nights.

Koya Mvashti is known to Jenar, as they both follow the same deity- Desna. Koya has assisted Jenar in learning more about Desna's teachings and philosphies. Jenar has guided Koya down to Magnimar, which is near where her parents memorial is located, on a couple occassions. Especially, if Sandu is not on the trip.

Jenar knows Sandru Vhiski but he makes her uncomfortable. He has always been pleasant; however, since he is a man and she fears being stared at, she is shy around him. Jenar tries to avoid him, if possible. Basically, she just does not know how to act around him. Perhaps, a apark of a crush will develop.

What place did Jenar like visiting the most?

Her favorite place is with the elves in Crying Leaf. That is where she feels the most comfortable being around people and it is where she learned how to read and write elven.

She truly enjoyed seeing the Sky Citadel, Janderhoff, and the dwarven architectural glory. To be able to observe the massive iron wall was spectacular. Although she was not keen on the confined tunnels within the mountain.

Has Jenar come to grips with her feelings towards Shalelu (as in accepted them, but not announced them)?

Jenar has not come to grips with her feeling towards Shalelu and this is due to her young age, lack of parents to confide in, and just general uncertainity and curiousity.

What does she like best about Shalelu?

Jenar likes how Shalelu is a protector. How she protects individuals, like herself, and a community like Sandpoint.


Juran's Questions Answered:

What has caused most of the scars from his 'youthful run-ins' (monsters, other people, etc)?

Many of those situations involved the large animals of the wild. A small pack of wolves that Juran happened upon forced him to take refuge in a tree for almost three days before departing for an easier meal. The gnome had only a days worth of rations but conserved what he had for as long as he could. There was also a large grizzly bear. While each seemed to run from one another, it was running into a hornets nest as he slowly backed away that caused him the most pain. Then, the goblin war party he almost ran into. The party was tracking a pair of human woodsman, and had he not intervened and gave the goblin’s position away, might have perished that day.

While there were other minor encounters, Juran had a love of the woods and his wanderlust to explore and experience what those wilds had to offer.

Where is the farthest he's traveled?

Juran has never been more than a hundred miles from home in the Sanos Forest, save once, when he traveled with his grandfather down the Yondabakari River to Magnimar. He was awed by all the people within such a small space and what wonders it held. His trip though was a short one, lasting less than a week before they returned to their home.

What's his relationship with Shalelu like?

The relationship has changed in the many years he has known Shalelu. It started out as casual. Whenever the elven woman would come through Sipplerrose Juran made a point of coming to listen to her tales. And he soon was brave enough to ask her of ways. When she had the time, she would take him into the Forest and show him what small wonders and dangers were to be seen and avoided. Shalelu, became a mentor, someone the young gnome looked up to as an example of what he could do and become. She had so much to teach and Juran wanted to learn and experience. While there is a friendship of sorts, Huran still looks to the elf as an instructor to be respected and listened to.

Does he have family somewhere?

Juran has grown up with his grandfather and grandmother, Horaal and Kadice. The elder gnome has made sure that Juran was brought up right… to respect himself and others. He has also instilled in the young gnome the eagerness to experience all that he can. Juran never really knew his parents, he knows they are adventures and that they travel and experience as many gnomes do. The few times his parents have returned, while loving, they were unknown to him. But his grandparents made it seem normal, he had family that cared for him and those to be there for him when he needed them. Juran has an older sister, Zelena, a wandering cleric/bard. She returns often and always brings Juran small presents and tales of the road. He thinks the word of her and one day, hopes to make a journey with her.

How do the emotional scars from the barghest hunt manifest?

Since the encounter with the braghest, Juran has many a nightmare. He often wakes in his sleep in a cold sweat or crying out for his mentor Shalelu. He has talked little of all that he has seen and the fact that the creature got away weighs on him, making the promise to avenge the deaths the creature has caused. He wishes to make more a mark on the world, he has felt the need to help those that are not able to do so for themselves.

What are his long-term goals, if any?

Juran wants to find Hrotos and see the creature dead for the suffering and death it has caused. He also wishes to see more of the world and offer his skills to help where he can.

What brings him to Sandpoint?

Juran has come to Sandpoint, as Shalelu has spoken of the place often. He has thoughtto start his adventures in the place where his mentor might be close at hand. While wanting to prove himself capable, he also knows he has much to learn.

He has soft warm amber colored eyes that can show there is a wisdom and caring there, when he chooses to act in his better nature. He complexion is a deep earthy brown. He has several tribal-like tattoos up his arms and across his back. He also as scars from his many youthful run ins. Most notable claw marks down his neck and chest and large bite mark on his left arm.

The gnome wears a suite of studded leather armor and carries a falchion across his back. He also carries a long bow, short sword at his waist, and several daggers. A small wooden symbol to Cayden Cailean about his neck.

Demeanor: Juran is a brash youth and for the wisdom in the young gnome still might rush into a situation before considering it. Like many a gnome, he searches for adventure wherever he might find it.

Background: Juran is from Sipplerrose within the Sanos Forest of central Varisia. As a young gnome the forest called to him and he answered the call with all his being. He would roam as far as his could and feel safe. He has run into more than a few situations that showed he was well out of his element, but he kept coming back for more.

It was within the last decade or so that he came across the elven Shalelu Andosana. At first wary of the elf but soon became brave enough to approach her. With a smile at knowing when the gnome was about she greeted him. He would sit with the elf and listen to her tales. He came to ask Shakelu if she would instruct him in the ways of her craft. She agreed whenever she was within the area she would show Juran what she knew. So began his instruction in what it was to truly be a ranger.

Just in the last year the pair encountered and heinous creature that attacked and killed many. They hunted down the barghest known as Hrotos, only to arrive far too late to save so many villagers. The pair thought to corner the beast within it's lair, but it escaped through a secreted entry. The things he saw during this hunt, haunt him to this day.

He is essentially good in that he values life and likes being civilised. He avoids killing if he can - but if he is faced with violent confrontations - mostly self defense - well - when in the heat of battle he REALLY gets into it!! Its a part of his upbringing. Basically I want to play up his lust for battle - while in the midst of battle. The trait is supposed to tie in with his Inspiring Blow Performance. I hope it will make battles more fun. He is not supposed to be a bloodthirsty murderer in social situations.

Does he plan on returning home or becoming a seafarer once more?
He has no particular plans to go back the Islands or sail the seas at this time. But if he does return he will want to return with exploits to brag about, wealth and notoriety.

Are his bardic talents his only profession/source of income?
Until recently he has lived off of the spoils of his previous seafaring loot and has grown fat and indolent in Sandpoint...occasionally making money or earning his bread by singing. He has little money left....and he has become a bit self-conscious lately. He doesn't want to look like a poor, fat schmuck (to Ameiko). I think he needs some adventure to get him going again!

Is it just Ameiko's beauty, or something else about her as well, that he likes so much?
I guess I don't know much about Ameiko yet and will see how her character develops through play... I hope. She seems like a cool chick. Her exotic background. Her beauty. Her talent. Her confidence/spunk. All of these things would be attractive to Kravo. They might share common interests in art and music...although I am sure their styles are totally different. He respects her professionally. I also think that she shares his desire to break out of the funk and get on with adventuring. I think he sees her as a soul mate - though he would never say that to her...and wouldn't use that term. And he knows it is highly unlikely that she would feel the same attraction towards him - a 300lb tattooed half-orc!

How does he deal with racism directed at him?
Most of the time he doesn't care. He takes it as a given that other people envy him for his race and will try to take a piece of him. Intimidation is a revered art form where he comes from. He has a thick skin and is so high on himself that he just laughs it off. He will gladly meet outright racist hostility with outright racist hostility. Sensitivity is not his forte anyway. I hope that not everyone in town is so xenophobic, and that he has made some friends and is tolerated enough to be allowed to reside there. I like to think that he is recognised as a popular up-and-coming musician in town.


Just finishing up mothers day, I will post my answers to your questions shortly, however, regarding the common knowledge of Aikira being Kitsune, I was curious how Sandpoint stands as far as their discrimination or lack thereof regarding Kitsune. Depending on the tolerance of the town I could have a different response

How badly scarred is Wanwa'lasse, physically?
Pretty bad. The worst one is the one across her belly, there are probably close to 50 other major scars on her body, mostly on her back, arms, and legs.

What sort of relationship does she have with Shalelu (mother-daughter, sisters, close friends)?
A cross between mother-daughter and sisters. Shalelu pretty much raised her until she got to about 20, and they started acting more like sisters.

Approximately how old was Wanwa'lasse at the time (young girl, teenager, young adult)?
About 6 or 7 years of age.

What was her best adventure with Shalelu?
The excursion into the Mosswood. Fortunately, they didn't run into goblins that time, but the trees did take her breath away. It's one of her favorite memories of her time with Shalelu.

Does she like Sandpoint?
Other than a few people who give her a hard time, she likes living there. She considers it her home.

Does she have many friends there?
Nope. Shalelu is who she's closest to. She is also good friends with Ameiko, who pretty much kept chipping away at the walls she had built around herself. Some of Ameiko's friends also befriended her, but she's not as close with them.

Does anyone remember her family?
Nope. She was pretty young when it happened and the emotional trauma of the goblins attacking her pretty much broke her mentally. It took a while for her to get to where she could function and think in a coherent manner, but by then she had already blocked most of what had happened before waking up in the church.

What does Sienna do for Jubrayl? Is she a 'known' member of the Sczarni?

Sienna joined Jubrayl in whatever jobs he was doing mostly out of anger that Sandru didn't take her up in her caravan adventures. She doesn't know about his direct relations with the Sczarni, though has heard rumours about them. She does realise that she might be doing jobs for the Sczarni without realising it by helping out her brother. Sienna feels that she should help her family somehow, so she isn't a 'known' member as such but possibly associated.

Most of the things she did seemed harmless enough. Jubrayl would use her summons and knowledge of the land to transport important 'packages' from place to place without anyone realising that they were being transported. Sienna never cared for what was in them nor did she ever ask, so she could be associated to the simple crimes of the Sczarni without realising it.

She's a member of the Wildwood Lodge, right? Was she part of the ceremony where they commune with the Circle Between?

Yes likely inducted by the man who trained her even though she is unsure of his name still. She has become aware though the he is a druid of some description and allowed her to join the Wildwood lodge. She is however a younger member of the commune thus has only discussed basic interpretations of the will of the world as it stands at the minute. She takes the solstice celebrations she has been to as learning experiences for herself. Ways to learn other interpretations and incorporate them with the knowledge she has accumulated.

(I'm not sure about this one) I do not think she would be experienced enough by the start of the campaign to have done the planar jump to communing within the Circle Between, though she has likely heard of the planetouched druids who live there. (I'm not sure how senior a druid actually needs to be to be part of this commune, I'm assuming she wouldn't be old enough)

Has she met any fey or magical creatures?

During the training with her mentor she has met a fey-touched bulette, this was more of an introduction by her mentor to show her that all animals could be touched by the fey. She hasn't kept in contact with such creatures since.

Is she completely over her fear?

Sienna isn't truly over her fear, she can control the weather a bit now yes, which has alleviated some of this fear away. However if she feels that the weather is not in a place that she could control it if she wanted to, she would likely get scared again. Not to the extend of rolling up in a ball but enough that it might cause her to panic, not think of her situation and run for cover.

What is her most fond memory with Sandru?

Sienna's fondest memories of her brother is when Sienna was young. She always has those memories of her in a garden, her brother Sandru walking up and asking her if she'd like to join in his activities. She would always decline but then he'd stay and talk. Talk about adventure, talk about going places, talk about how the world is so much more than what they know. She envied him a little but always dreamed that one day he'd just come up to her and whisk her away on some grand adventure. She always remembers those happy times and still wishes he'd do just that.

What is her relationship like with Koya?
(I am silly for missing that she was an adoptive mother the first time round so here is adding more things now)

Sienna appreciates the mothering that Koya has given to her and Sandru. However she never truly felt that she could replace her own mother. Sienna treats Koya more like an aunt than a parent, caring for her but feeling more like its mutual friendship.

Sometimes though Sienna did get the feeling that she was the daughter that Koya never had. So from mother to daughter as before Koya taught Sienna about Desna just like Niska had done for Koya. Thus Sienna learnt some of the basic Mantra's and passages for Desna's worship from Koya. As a result Sienna has picked up and follows Desna's teachings as best she can, though she isn't nearly as devout as her adoptive mother. After meeting with a fey-touched creature Sienna has become quite interested in meeting one of Desna's servants, the Lyrakiens, out of sheer curiosity.

Is Akira friends with Sandru's brother?

Sandru's brother has always taken an interest in Akira. Ever since they were younger, Jubrayl knew there was always something more about Akira. One time, Jubrayl had an opportunity to take a peak at the Hakanochi scroll. Since that day, Jubrayl had a deep understanding of the potential of Akira and would always ask him about his "studies" and encourage him to continue when Sandru was not around. Would always hint, never outright saying it, but it was clear to Akira that Jubrayl had had meant to use him in some way for the Szcarni, Jubrayl seemed like he was checking in often to see whether Akira was ready or not.

Does he know about his involvement with the Szcarni?
Yes, Sandru has made it very clear about Jubrayl's occupation and intentions. Even though Sandru didn't agree with it, Akira couldn't help but feeling an empathy for Jubrayl. The Szcarni piqued Akira's curiosity, but never would betray his best friend to join up with Jubrayl and his cronies. Although the thought had crossed his mind, especially since Sandru might be leaving for awhile and Akira was trying to find more meaning to his life.

Is the Hakanochi clan one primarily dealing in information, sabotage and subterfuge or do they also assassinate people?

The Hakanochi clan dealt in deceit, it was believed that they recognized no law but their own, often time it was due to the clans purposeful misinformation that started skirmishes among others. Many times the Hakanochi clan would pit families against each other so that the Hakanochi clan would benefit the most. A plot was finally uncovered and the entire clan was destroyed. As far as the Hakanochi clan, they did not specialize in assassination in a public arena, it was only decided by the Hakanochi's that they would kill, but they were never hired to do such things. There was more money to be made keeping people alive.

Does Akira believe or know that there are more of his clan out there?
Much of the scroll details his true families nature, and while he loves and respects the parents who adopted him, one of his idle fantasies it to make it back to his clan as a master of their abilities, but doesn't believe he is ready to greet his family because he feels lacking in his ability. Even though they are dead and the clan is entirely destroyed he is unaware of it, he believes that this is a test given to all Hakanochi (even though it never implies it anywhere in the scroll or suggests it whatsoever)He is ready to move on to apply his techniques and master the arts of deception so that he can finally make it back to meet his family.

Does he know where he's from originally?
Akira knows where he is from originally but has never seen it on a map and no one really knows much about his hometown. The parents who adopted him only tell him that they met his grandmother and that his parents were dead when they met her, but never gave him any specific details. It never really bothered him to ask, he assumed his the reason for having the scroll was to practice and master the traditions of his family.

Even if you don't pick me, I thank you for those questions. I've been playing DnD for a long time but I'm not as savvy in the RP department, especially in writing back stories. I've been posting in a few PbPs for the past month and it's really been pushing my RP creativity to a new level, but I think that your set of questions helped guide my creativity and its like I have so much attachment to this character now that you've asked me those questions. So thanks for that, you've been the only one with that kind of thought provoking feedback and I really appreciate that.
