Background:

A river rat in almost every sense of the term, Brennan grew up on a houseboat in the Riverlands. His parents were honest merchants, though anyone with an insight in the merchant world knew that honesty had many, many levels. From a young age, Brennan learned to cut tent ropes, sow bread crumbs for birds, and hide rotten meat - basically anything that could cause embarrassment to a competing vendor and give his parents the upper hand in negotiations.

It was engaging in this practice that got Brennan the first real beating of his life. A pack of sons of an embarrassed chandler caught up to him and beat the smaller boy unconscious. His nose was broken, as were several ribs, and his body was basically one giant bruise. He limped back to his parents with one thought on his mind ... never again.

Brennan began practicing with knives and short blades, able to make one appear as if by magic from concealed areas about his person. He grew strong. So strong, in fact, that after a while none of the other river boys would challenge him. In fact, at the age of 11 he ran the river gangs.

At 15 he left his family, looking to seek his fortune. For a while, he roamed the lands, stealing what he wanted and hiring out for escort and guard duty when he could. Finally, he caught the eye of Marcus Belmy, a Pathfinder agent who was down on his luck. Marcus had an eye for antiquities, and a throat for drink. He would regale Brennan with stories of ancient ruins holding treasures, intrigues in the cities, and other bits of the adventurer's life. Brennan would keep Marcus' throat wet with ale.

The two traveled together for almost three years before a spike trap took Belmy in the groin. Brennan spent most of that time learning about the ruins of different cultures, and the tricks for acquiring the treasures that often resided in them. These treasures were often held by men and creatures that didn't particularly want to part with them, and Brennan learned the tricks of acquisition as well. His scars grew in number, as the knives he preferred to use required him to get up close and personal with all manner of men and monster.

These last couple of years Brennan has been moving southwards, into Qadira and Osiron. The ruined temples and dungeons buried in the sand intrigued him, as did the promise of lucrative rewards from their contents. He knew that many of the desert nobles paid well for ancient artifacts and even rubbings. He also knew that the natives were quick with their curved blades against any they thought had insulted them. It was just the place for Brennan.

As he moved about from city to city, he often acted as local guide and escort for various expeditions. That was how he met Morana. The woman with the living armor intrigued him, and she didn't put up with his crap, which intrigued him even more. Brennan didn't call many friend, but Morana was definitely fast becoming one of the few.

Morana wanted to join with a crew of others, doing standard adventuring for hire stuff. That crap paid the bills, but it wasn't usually Brennan's preferred method of earning money. Still, Morana was joining up and Brennan's particular skillset was needed, so why not.?
