I'd simply see that as a bit of obscurity in the rules. Consider that you can draw during a charge. But running over and biting someone is just so more vicious.

Sol runs in to engage the gnome.

Move to R3. Stab gnome.

Dagger: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15 .... damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Sol's knife is on target when it is turned away by some sort of invisible magical shield.

Or Shield, even.

Jod will have to maneuver around the corner at W8 first, but would have the necessary 10' to charge - can he? Otherwise, he's 5' short of the necessary movement and will have to double move to get into flanking position (T5) for Sol without an attack.

If he can charge, his AC is 13, touch AC is 10, and his attack is

Attack: 1d20 + 6 - 1 + 2 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (13) + 6 - 1 + 2 + 2 - 4 = 18 Power Attack, Charge, Flank, Nonlethal attack
Damage: 2d4 + 9 ⇒ (2, 4) + 9 = 15 Power attack

Either way: As Jod rushes toward the odd little spellcaster, he shouts, "Someone see to Rhok!"

It appears that Mulluq's movement is not recorded on the map yet; not sure if that's intentional or not.

The requirement to charge in a straight line seems to be gone. Instead, you must move "straight towards" the enemy to the nearest available point, which I take to mean that you have to take the shortest possible route which may or may not be a straight line. Anyhoo...

Jod smacks the gnome on the side of the head with his falchion, but she is still conscious.

Map updated. I did update for Mulluq on my Sheets app on my phone, but the connection is flaky so it didn't save it. Pretty crap app, to be honest.

Ghroth.

HP 34/34 | Init +2 | AC 16 T 12 FF 14 | CMD 15 | F +3 R +3 W +4 | Per +1 | MP: 7/7

Ghroth barrels past Hannik and Anevia towards the gnome once it appears.

Run to Q4. If the troll nests are difficult terrain, he can't run through them. If that is the case, run to U5.

Gnome up

The gnome begins to cast the same spell again.

Concentration check 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23 v DC 17

She then lunges at Jod.

1d20 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 3 = 10 to hit v touch AC, damage 4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 2, 4) = 16

There's a crackle and a whiff of ozone, a spark arcs from her hand to Jod's falchion, and Jod spasms and falls the ground. The gnome cackles delightedly before sidestepping away from her enemies.

Oooh, that charge you made maybe didn't help you much.

"What's happening?" calls Aravashnial, "Do you need my help?" Anevia, meanwhile, curses and aims an arrow at the gnome.

1d20 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 5 - 2 = 14 to hit, damage 1d6 ⇒ 5

But she only manages to hit the cave wall.

Okay, given the correction on the charge, I would have drawn my sword but that doesn't change the bite.

Seeing the little thing manage to cast a spell, even with him so close, Mulluq is concerned as he sees another fall. He sidesteps to stand protectively over Jod, also blocking any avenue of escape to ensure he is allowed to take a shot if the gnome even tries. With his weapon now ready and in hand, he lashes out with both blade and fang.

Ghroth briefly drops to all fours while running to get behind the gnome. Once there he leaps up rebounding off the cavern wall to dive down at the gnome with his oversized jaws spread wide.

The gnome doesn't threaten as she has nothing to attack with when she isn't holding a charge.

Sol cuts the gnome a long wound along her arm which bleeds freely. Ghroth then makes his dizzying leap, biting her hard on the shoulder. Already dazed by Jod's flat-of-the-blade strike, she collapses to the floor.

End of combat. 133xp each. The gnome is unconscious, not dead or dying.

Nicely described action there, by the way, Ithers.

LOL, I completely missed her attack, let alone that it was against me!

The unconscious young man struggles to breathe as the electrical charge continues to cause his muscles to spasm, but the inquisitor's spell causes his strained breathing to ease somewhat. He is still out cold, however.

Thanks, Kira.

Nicely done, chaps - want to search? Or do you want to leave the treasure behind for future generations, making adventuring a more sustainable activity?

The adventurers pick over the gnome's belongings and the troll nests.

The gnome carries the following (with Spellcraft DCs to identify using Detect Magic):
- a potion (DC 18)
- two scrolls (both DC 18)
- another scroll (DC 20)
- bracers (DC 22)
- a flask of acid (only lunatics carry round flasks of acid!)
- a tanglefoot bag
- a small light crossbow
- a small masterwork spear
- a collection of dolls' heads
- some jerky, comprising six days' rations
- 28gp

In the troll nests you find
- a chipped marble statuette of a humanoid throwing a spear
- various denominations of currency totaling 160gp

Just killing them is so much easier from an ethical perspective.

It is, and I'm bothered specifically knowing the focus of the campaign, and with Mulluq's reaction. Ahh, this should be fun.

Also, treasure on the wiki updated, specifically Here

Yeah. Of course, in this game there is a higher purpose which isn't the case in a lot of other campaigns, especially as a couple of the characters are worshippers of a Lawful Good deity. These moral/ethical dilemmas are likely to happen quite a lot.

After the gnome is knocked unconscious, Sol watches anxiously while Kira sees to Rhok and Jod. When the Kellid shaman begins to move and further heals his warrior friend, Sol is greatly relieved.

He doesn't join the search through the gnome and troll camps, but watches the sleeping gnome with his dagger drawn.

"Now what do we do with her?

Mulluq calms himself when the enemy finally drops. With Lady Valerious tending the injured, he looks to secure the prisoner, but realizes he has nothing to use to do so. "My uselessness knows no bounds. I have no way of securing the prisoner. We cannot just leave her here. She is either a threat to us or others. Her weapons were her hands, bearing spells. Do you suggest we remove those? I feel we are responsible for what is now our prisoner. It is our responsibility to ensure that we do not treat them inhumanely." Despite the choice of words, he does not sound as if he's being preachy. His words come out almost as if he talking aloud to himself.

While the others search and decide about the prisoner, Jod will watch for threats coming in from the right side of the map.
