Cling feat and sharing a creature's space

Rules Discussion

Hello, I have a question about cling feat and a character sharing a creature's space.

Cling :

Quote:
You hang onto a foe to harry them into submission. If your target moves while you're hanging onto it, you can choose to move with the target. The target is released if you choose not to move with it, at the start of your next turn, or if the target Escapes. Attempts to Escape from a Cling follow the rules for Escape, but use your Acrobatics DC and end the Cling instead of the conditions normally ended by the Escape action.

1/Is it possible for a character to use an effect similar from daredevil's gambit ?

Quote:
If you critically succeed at your Daring Act, you can enter the target’s space and remain there until the beginning of your next turn or until the target moves, whichever comes first. You gain a +2 circumstance bonus to AC, and your target is flat-footed against your attacks while you are sharing its space in this way. If any creature other than your target hits you with an attack roll while you are sharing your target’s space, attempt a DC 15 flat check. On a success, resolve the attack against the target instead of you, using the same attack roll result that hit you.

Thanks for your future answer.

2/ Is it possible for a character to use toppling dance ?

Quote:
While sharing a creature's space using Dance Underfoot, your weapons and unarmed attacks gain the trip trait, but only against the creature whose space you share. You can be in the same space as a Large or larger prone creature, even if it's not your ally.

1) No.

2) No.

Notice that both feat points to named actions/activities. When this happens it works only when these actions/activities happens/are in effect.

Cling is effectively a variation of Grapple.

Applying the Grabbed condition to an enemy by using Grapple will make the target immobilized. So they can't move away from you without using Escape. But you don't share their space as a result (which is, I think, a difference from PF1).

The Cling ability doesn't use the Grabbed condition - it is defining its own pseudo-condition. The enemy can move away from you, but if they don't use Escape first, then you will follow along with them when they do so. But you still aren't sharing their space.

Another way of thinking of it is that Cling is similar to an automatic free action to use Relentless Stalker.

So Cling doesn't prevent you from using either Daredevil's Gambit or Toppling Dance, it isn't really helping either since Cling doesn't cause you to share the creature's space.

ok.

you said :

Yes...

Is there a question or concern about that? Or just agreement?

Cling doesn't cause the Goblin to share the space of the target that they hit with their Strike.

Ok so I'm not sure what you're asking but just to see if I'm getting this right:

You want to know how Cling interacts with Daredevil's Gambit and/or Toppling Dance?

Nothing in Daredevil's Gambit prevents you from using Cling, but you can't really do this combo due to action economy. Daring Act, which you need for Daredevil's Gambit, is 2 actions. Strike + Cling is also two actions. Cling also only lasts until the start of your next turn. You need to be Quickened to be able to do the combo in one go and end up sharing the opponent's space AND clinging to them. That or you need to enter their space first and hope they don't move, then Cling on your next turn while inside their space. After that, maintaining the Cling should be relatively easy, allowing you to share their space when they move assuming they don't escape.

Toppling Dance also works fine while Clinging, but you do need to be inside the opponent's space, which means using Tumble Through to end up inside (since Toppling Dance needs Dance Underfoot), Step Lively to end up inside, or Daring Act.

Cling by itself though does not let you share a creature's space.
