I've recently found myself with a craving to run a game and the free time to do so. I've also always wanted to play an S&S game, but never found a GM to run it. So instead, I'll do it myself!
That is, if anyone wants to play it.
So, here we are: An interest check for a Skull & Shackles game, run either in its original form, or using a 2e conversion. Play would most likely be Play-by-Post, here on these forums, unless there's sufficient interest to warrant playing through Discord via chat, or on a VTT. VTT would require some scheduling, so we'll see how that goes...
So, if you're interested, please list the following:
*Preferred system - 1e/2e
*Openness to non-preferred system - Yes/No
*Preferred game medium (Paizo/Discord chat/VTT) - Optional
I'll leave this open for a bit, maybe a week. If we get sufficient interest, I'll convert to a recruitment thread and we can get moving for real.

I'm interested! To answer your questions:
1. 1st Edition would probably be easier on both player and GM, less work with conversions and whatnot. It's also what I have the most experience with. HOWEVER...
2. ...I also would be very open to using 2e, as I wanna get a better handle on the system. Whatever you decide, I'm up for it!
3. I would prefer here on the Paizo boards, as I find it the most flexible with my schedule. I've only role-played on Discord once, and it's okay, but I have absolutely NO experience with VTTs.

3. I've seen too many pbp games die, on these forums and others. VTT would be preferable, if we could get peoples' schedules aligned. For text-only, Discord would be preferable, but I'm not opposed to playing here (just wary).

I’d prefer 1e because I have way more experience it, which I guess isn’t surprising. But I’ve only played in one short-lived 2e game.
I wouldn’t be opposed to 2e though. It’d be a fun AP to learn more of the system.
Paizo boards preferred. Discord would work, too; I’m just not very familiar with it. My schedule is too erratic to do a VTT game.

2. No 1E for me, sorry.
3. I strongly prefer play-by-post. Discord is a solid "mmmmmaybe if I absolutely have to"; VTT is right out.
1e all the way, not terribly into 2e. 1e with some edits maybe.

I have been in 2 PF1e S&S PbP games here on the forums. Both disappointingly failed due to DM disappearance.
That being said:
*Preferred system - 1e/2e MOST definitely PF2e.
*Openness to non-preferred system - Yes but like a pirate with a peg-leg which got stuck in a hole at the dingy tavern that I will be drowning me sorrows at...lol.
I am attempting (unsuccessfully) to go PF2e now.
*Preferred game medium (Paizo/Discord chat/VTT) - Optional
Paizo boards with Discord chat, I find helps.

I'd certainly be interested in giving Skulls and Shackles a try. I was in one live play a few years ago but I could not finish it. I've got a number of ideas for characters.
1. I'd prefer 1E.
2. I'd be willing to give 2E a go with this, but like a few others I feel the conversion would be extra work for the GM.
3. Paizo forums would be the best medium I feel.
Either way, always good to see someone GMing.

Pick the engine YOU want to use. Pick the play method YOU want to use. The game is far more likely to succeed if you have the experience you want. Players are pretty easy to find.

So, of the responses, it looks like we have 9 votes for 1e, 2 for 2e, and 1 neutral. Guess that's 1e. Fair enough, easier for me not to have to convert.
As for platform, all but 1 of you said Paizo, so that'll be how we go. I did like the suggestion about making a discord for chat, so I might go that route.
I don't think there's a way to edit the first post or rename the thread, so I'll get to making a proper recruitment thread tomorrow. For now, bedtime.

*Openness to non-preferred system - I did get the PHB for 2nd Edition on launch but have had trouble getting into it. I want to, but so far no reason. I imagine if the game was 2E I would have the excuse I needed.

I got into a S&S game years and years ago when a 3.5 PBP forum I was on started running pathfinder games. This was probably close to ten years ago. The characters and story we had going remains one of my favorite to this day. We sadly lost some of our players and ultimately our DM near the end of the first book. I have not been able to get into a game since, here or on roll20. To say I am chomping at the bit to play it again is an understatement.
I've even redone the original character a few times to submit for application.
Excitingly waiting for the recruitment to open.
