I do believe there is an increase during the winter and a decrease during the Summer. People don't have as much time for gaming when they are at the lake every weekend.
It seems the last couple of weeks have been very dead on this site.
Here in the US, we've started vacation season. I know we play every week pretty regularly, but we've had to skip 2 weeks in the past month due to players being away on vacation. That situation may be why the forums have been a bit quieter over the past few weeks.
The impact from COVID is also hard to judge. It could be a lack of people playing, because they are afraid to meet in person and don't like using online tools. But the LFG games I track on Roll20 are also in steep decline right now.
It may just be the 5E juggernaut sapping new players away.

I enjoy 5e quite a lot, but PF1 will always be my fave :)
One of our players wants us to play a 5ed game after we are done with our current AP.
