Trying to build a heavily armored firearm user

Well, the Gun Tank kinda is what you need. The issue I see is that for an immovable character, it lacks a Deed that allows it to ignore kickback from certain firearms. Imagine being able to fire a Double Hackbut or a Culverin without having to rest it.

That brings me to my next point: if you go with a gun and shield build, Vital Strike might be an option. Take a Dragoon Pistol, Vital Strike every time you can shoot, and you can have 3 rounds before reloading. Also, well, nothing prevents you from taking a move action to move and using your standard action to Vital Strike, or moving to Cover and reload in one round.

The Dragoon Pistol and Musket allows you to fire 3 shots before reloading. The Pepperbox Pistol and Rifle have more bullets, but you need a free hand to rotate the next barrel.

More like "your printing may vary". The 20ft range was a mistake, it was changed to "special" for the third (or maybe second) printing. The change was not listed in the erratum notes, which is why the websites missed it.

Hi all. So I want to build a heavy armor using gun user. Specifically I want to use a dragon pistol and tower shield. I was thinking either gun tank 5/fighter (maybe something else) X. That gets me dex to damage and armor training 1. The other idea I had is trench fighter 3 (maybe more?) Then something else. But I'm really not sure how to go about this. Any ideas or advice is welcome. I posed this question to Reddit and the only.real advice I got was to add scatter gunner to gun tank. And one guy suggested dropping the tower shield for a heavy shield and TWFing via savage technologist. I'd really like to keep the tower shield but I can be persuaded otherwise. Dragon pistol is locked though. Thanks all

This doesn't seem all that hard. A level in Fighter gives you Heavy Armor proficiency. The Slumbering Armor Modification lets you sleep in Heavy Armor as if it were Medium Armor. The Endurance Feat lets you Sleep in Medium Armor without waking up Fatigued. Tower Shield takes a Feat. I like Gunchemist and Grenadier Alchemists. In either case, take the Explosive Missile Discovery. That lets you load Bombs into your bullets. Gunchemists can do that already, but Explosive Bullets lets you effectively load 2 bombs/round. Exploding bullets are cool.

Wow that's... not particularly unusual or surprising but still a failure on Paizo's part. Good to know, though, thanks!

Each attack roll takes a –2 penalty, and its attack damage cannot be modified by precision damage or damage-increasing feats such as Vital Strike.

That's an odd one, I never noticed that line before. So a fighter with +1 weapon training firearms would get +1 damage, but not the +2 from weapon specialization? As long as the damage bonus doesn't come from a feat it works? How arbitrary is that?

Two possibilities I see. One is they were trying to limit the amount of damage bonus you could get from skill given an area effect attack, the other is that it's aimed at sneak attack and vital strike because the writer had had bad experiences with them. Dunno which.

I'm sad that Sneak attack doesn't work. It's such a trope to kick in a door and blast someone into kingdom come with a well placed shot and clear the room

Wait, what? A "well placed shot" with the predecessor of a shotgun is "such a trope"?
