Norgorber = Nyarlathotep

Norgorber = Nyarlathotep

Is it me or does Norgorber feel like he is just a mask of Nyarlathotep, just like “The Royal Pant” (google it for info, Reddit post:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Lovecraft/comments/9tgrnm/the_royal_pant/

Nyarlathotep is a standard god in Starfinder, the areas of concern are nearly identical and Norgorber isn’t anymore in Starfinder.

Or who could he be or is there already a source for his origin besides that he is from Vyre and ascended.

Also posted this on reddit, feel free to come there:

Hm, the problem with that is that it directly contradicts one of the clear things we know about Norgorber: He completed the Test of the Starstone to ascend to godhood.

Norgorber's worshipers want normal mortal things. You know, material wealth, murder, payment, achievements.

Nyarlathotep worshipers want irrational things and are covered in the stink of insanity. The more powerful they become, the more obvious the taint of 'corruption' or whatever you want to call it.

Also Norgorber wants respect and fear. Nyarlathotep's desires ... are beyond mortal understanding. Everything that touches the Mythos contains and spreads madness.

Nobody witnessed Norgorber taking the test. Not him entering, not him leaving. The rumor spread at the time of his assention, and it feels correct. But there are no witnesses. (or at least no living witnesses)

Scurrilous slander! Sacrilege, even! To suggest that the tales about the ascension to divinity of the god of secrets and lies might not be 100% reliable...

The followers of the gods might have other plans and stuff but the god itself: Nyarlathotep as an outer god is on such another powerscale than normal mortals or mythic creatures, demi-gods or even gods that he could easily make someone, especially if this person is his offspring/mask/spawn, pass the starstone test or make it ascend to godhood.

“The Royal Pant”, Nyarlathoteps other mask, is also an ordinary human to the outside world, a musician to be exact. So that doesn’t interfere with the possibility that Norgorber is part of Nyarlathotep. His secrecy and lies specialties add to that.

And in the Pathfinder wiki the only thing I could find is, that he was born in Vyre and in 1800 or 1900 something he passed the test. No witnesses. And even what he does in his godhood is unknown to most beings and especially his followers, as most of them have no idea what the Gray Master is planning or doing.

If you find anything more than me, please link it. Thank you.

Actually, I remembver James Jacobs making statements about the relative power levels of dieties, including the outer gods. The outer gods actually aren't more powerful than other deities, at least not necessarily. I know he said Pharasma is the strongest deity, but I can't remember exactly where he placed the power level of the outer gods.

As far as being the same being, I guess it's technically possible. But at least if PF1 they both exist and have different areas of interest.

He seems more like the Pathfinder version of Cyric to me.

Something else to consider is that Norgorber runs 3 distinctly different cults that do not share members and would most likely shun each other.

Nyarlathoteps doesn't show any interest in creating a priest hood or cults.
