General Feats and Skill Feats...

I know you can only pick a General Feat with the Skill trait when you get a new Skill Feat, but does it work the other way around? What I mean is that when a PC receives a General Feat, are you allowed to pick a General Feat with the Skill trait? I think you can, but it'd be nice to know this for certain. :)

For example, could a fighter choose Intimidating Glare at 3rd level?

Your understanding is not 100% right - the Skill trait is what makes something a skill feat, whether or not it has the General trait. This is relevant when you get into things like archetypes that can have feats which are tagged Archetype and Skill, but not General.

And, similarly, the General trait makes something a general feat, whether or not it also has the Skill trait. So yes, you can pick Intimidating Glare.

Totally correct. I'd add though that skill feats are usually less powerful and ALWAYS more common than general feats so it would be a rare build that would want to take a skill feat instead of a general feat.

Especially given that general feats let you pick up some more ancestry feats (which tend to be some combination of quite powerful and quite flavour full).

What the above have said is correct, with a couple clarifications:
1. All skill feats in print currently are also general feats. I get the impression that that's the intent for everything, so yes, you can basically always choose a skill feat (also a general feat) that qualify for with a general feat. EDIT: Huh, I hadn't looked into what Fowlj has said, but I will assume they are correct here. Still, *most* skill feats are also general feats at least...
2. Regarding power level: It's true for lower-level feats, but there aren't a ton of high level general feats, so once you get higher up, it might actually be preferable to select Skill Feats with General Feats.

Diabolic Certitude, Emerald Boughs Accustomation, Uzunjati Storytelling, Uzunjati Recollection, Thorough Reports, Forced Entry, Recognize Threat, Unravel Mysteries and Know the Beat are skill feats that aren't general feats.

It had totally slipped by me that these weren't coming from your class feat budget. Suddenly they're looking a lot better.

There exists a use case for spending your general feat on a skill feat: a non-rogue that wants a skill feat that requires an expert skill as soon as possible. At level 3 you get an expert skill.

For example, clerics who want Continuous Recovery as soon as possible.

Wow, you're right. And they still count towards the archetype. That does make them a LOT more attractive. Makes multiple archetypes much more of an option much earlier. Thank you for pointing this out (both of you :-))
