We finally have a description of the gnome flickmace! Released in Gnomes of Golarion with the flavor text cut for space, it has been bouncing around golarion like an undefined ghost of a weapon until 2e gives us this:
More a flail than a mace, this weapon has a short handle attached to a length of chain with a ball at the end. The ball is propelled to its reach with the flick of the wrist, the momentum of which brings the ball back to the wielder after the strike.
Given that I've wanted to know what that flickmace looks like for literally years, I think this might be one of my favorite things about the new edition.

Gnome weapon familiarity makes for an interesting combination as a fighter, with the ability to use both sword n’ board tactics and reach tactics with AoO. Bring that Cha down to 8 and bump Str to 12 at character creation so you can bring it all the way to 18 at level 1. It’s probably going to become my first fighter I play as.

it's actually the best Paladin weapon if you're going SnB since it enables much easier reactions.

The gnome flickmace is absolutely the best weapon for champions and for one-handed-weapon fighters. It is not even a context. Reach 2 with a one-hander is crazy, and the weapon specialization knocks prone, which is great for Attacks of Opportunity.
If Standing provokes an Attack of Opportunity, as per page 474, the attack resolves after the creature has already stood up. If that is a critical hit, they get knocked right back prone.

Dragonlanece loved their joke races way too much. Kender, Tinker Gnomes, Gully Dwarves. At least tinker gnomes had a kernel of a good idea there, just taken to a stupid extreme. Tone it down and generalize it so it's not just invention, but anything to keep active and you get Pathfinder Gnomes. I love PF gnomes, they're weird enough to be interesting, but aren't required to be insane. No "Only insane gnomes build things that actually work." nonsense. Some players will still play them as all obnoxious nut-jobs, but it's not how they're written.
As for the flickmace. I always assumed it was more like a spring loaded, telescoping baton. It could be normal mace sized and then with the press of a catch and a flick it slides out to a much longer shaft. But I suppose the chain thing works too.
Relatedly, there is the gnome hook hammer. Originally a stupid double weapon with a hammer head on one end of the shaft and a hook on the other. The description now is kind of vague "This gnome tool and weapon features a hammer at one end and a curved pick on the other." End of what? End of the shaft, or end of the head? The image at the top of the page is the picture of what I'm presuming is the gnome hook hammer, and it has the hook on the other side of the head. That's a much more reasonable design than the silly double weapon, and not much different than a hammer with a spike on the back, except the spike is curved. I'm happy to see double weapons get tossed, they were dumb.

Cayden Cailean, Desna, Erastil, Gozreh, Nethys, Norgorber, Shelyn and Nivi Rhombodazzle are listed as gnome deities so if you're looking for LG it looks like you have Erastil.
"Religion
Gnomes prefer gods that emphasize nature, magic, freedom, and beauty, including Cayden Cailean, Desna, Erastil, Gozreh, Nethys, Norgorber, and Shelyn. These are all depicted as gnomes by their gnome worshipers. The svirfneblin goddess Nivi Rhombodazzle is the only unique gnome deity, and she is mostly unknown among surface gnomes." I'm trying to think of which deities sponsor Paladins who won't have an issue with a gnome using a ridiculous weapon.
Is that really much of a problem? I doubt most deities really care what weapon their paladins use. If it works, why sweat the small details? Most Golarion deities are pretty hands-off. Of the ones listed by Greystone, perhaps Shelyn might make the most sense. A unique fighting style could be seen as an art-form. But it does seem like a more chaotic style thing, and I could see any deity with any kind of trickery in their area of concern could appreciate it because of the deceptive reach. Bad guy might think they're safely out of reach, and *bam* paddle-ball to the face. If you look at some of the more uncommon ones, the Empyreal Lord Bharnarol is NG (so probably allows paladins) and has invention and creativity in his areas of concern. Those seem to fit pretty well.

I don't understand why any of them would care. For torag you just have to make sure that this flickmace is the best possible flickmace you could forge and that you weren't using it to cheat. Heck, I could see someone making a specific fighting style that worked with streamers attached to the flickmace to make elaborate and confusing patterns in the air being an art form sheyln would appreciate. Similarly, Cayden Cailean would probably be all for a gnome liberator making a drinking game focused that incorporated a training flickmace as a ball-and-cup game.

Wow, I think you are right. That is a major change from 1e... it also means that any creature with both a tripping melee strike and the ability to make AoOs is going to be vicious to deal with if your party members don't come save you.

It's also rough on flying creatures. Falling damage is brutal, prone is one of few things that forces fliers to the ground without preventing it. They can use acrobatics as a reaction to fall safely rather easily though, so you want to make them use their reaction if you can.
