The Mandalorian Season 2 Is Coming Fall 2020
That's a long wait, but it should be mitigated by other Disney+ goodness. Plus, if that picture (and the ensuing article speculation) is anything to go by, mayhap we'll see more Hutt action. Being caught up in a power struggle resulting from Jabba's death could be very interesting.

It's actually a pretty short or average wait for a TV series. Since Mandalorian came out Nov 12th, about 2 months into Fall 2019, Fall 2020 is a year later, which is what almost every TV show does. If anything, shows with high budgets and effects and on streaming services take more than 12 months between seasons, due to the extra production time needed to add effects and globalize (translate into other languages primarily) than shows on single country TV networks. Disney+ will be launched in Europe in the Spring, so presumably that will include multi-language support by then. If they want to keep global release dates (which they likely do) then the translation can add a few months to post-production. I was fully expecting season 2 to be in Spring 2021, so very happy it will be Fall 2020.

I flipped at the end.
I saw a few news posts, with headlines like "watch these 8 episodes to understand the Mandalorian finale bombshell". And I shrugged as I watched because it seemed pretty straightforward. No real surprises.
It was cool. The Troopers opening that had me chuckling but also hating them. The speeder rush. The quick battle. The reveal. The Rising Pheonix and Armourer battle. The TIE fight. All great stuff.
But holy poop, that final scene. Damn, I want a second season.

Fortunately, season 2 has already been announced for fall 2020, so not too much of a wait.

Nothing to see here. No big news.
Nothing that confirms a long running fan theory or anything.

I saw the news about Fett and, to be honest, had mixed feelings. It's cool they might be expanding the cast to include more Mandolorians. At the same time, Fett is such a popular character (which I've never fully understood), I'm afraid hemight overshadow the main character.
Still, overall, I'm pleased.

I've been watching the Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian show on D+, and I was blown away by the fourth episode last night. The way they filmed this series...the new tech they used...was just mind-blowingly cool.

I've heard some people are horrified by The Child eating those eggs. Meh.
When I first saw the spiders, I thought they might be the same species that was introduced during Star Wars: Rebels. Close, but not quite. Still sufficiently creepy, though. My wife did not like them.
I thought so too! I was hoping but they were a different species. Ah well.
NEW REPUBLIC(They should have been in Y wings, but I get the s foil thing for drama sake)FOREVER!

I saw a rumor today (and I'm not sure how long it's been floating around) that the TV wrestler Sasha Banks will be playing Sabine Wren. I'm taking that with a mine's worth of salt grains.
While I think it would be cool to bring in some more established characters to the show, I would not be crazy about this one. Of all the characters from Rebels, she was my least favorite. I think it was the whole artist thing. Not that I hate artists (much), it's just that I never saw the whole artist Mandalorian as making sense.

I was a fan of the original movies as a little, little kid; saw Empire and Return of the Jedi in the theater. Lost interest at the prequels; never watched more than a few episodes of the cartoons, never read the books. In short, I am a very casual fan.
Last year a lady gamer in one of my games started watching this show. She thought Baby Yoda was adorable. Since she never gets into ANYTHING that's adorable, it made me think that this was somehow so over the top cutesie that I'd get cavities watching it, so I've been purposely avoiding it until last week.
Last week there were some... political tensions here in the US. With nothing else much to watch and climbing the walls from stress, I binged the entire series to current over 2 nights.
Here is the take of someone who knows NONE of the lore and is purely looking to be entertained: I loved it. Baby Yoda is so damn cute it almost made me cry. IG 11 owned every scene it was in. Mando is nice, but his restraint in some scenes keeps reminding me this is a Disney property.
I will, however, continue watching every episode of this series for Favreau and Waititi's take on the banter between speeder bike troopers! That was one of the funniest scenes I've watched since way back at Gencon in 2000 when one of the booths was running Troopers. "You just want to SEE it!" I mean, are you KIDDING me?
This show has heart, picks up a few beats from way back in the original 3 movies, and just generally makes me want to be a fan. Also, weirdly, I find myself really drawn into the Way of the Mandalorians, right down to their call and response of "This is the Way." Like, being an old fashioned, stereotypical D&D guy, this made me think "THIS is what being a Dwarf must be like in D&D settings."
Anyway, after I'm done with work I'm going back and rewatching the speeder bike troopers' scene again. Freaking priceless!

I can get people being horrified by BY eating the eggs - these are after all the future offspring of a sentient being. They are unfertilized now, but still it's killing off what is intended to be kids, even if it's more like menstrual leavings at this point. I mean, I thought it was funny but I can understand other people not thinking it.
The spider things reminded me of iknayid from SWTOR.
Getting into the stupid of the show, I have some problems with what is shown of Mandalorian culture.
I'm fine with these Mandalorians not showing their faces, despite most previous mandos not having a problem with it. Mandalorianism is basically a religion and if there is one thing we know about religion it's that someone will always think no one before themselves got it right before now and convince a bunch of people to do the new thing as though it were always like that. No, what really irks me is that no one seems to know what a Jedi is except Armorer. These are people who lived through Clone Wars and Mandalorians considered Jedi their archrivals for millennia, yet somehow whatsisname hadn't heard of them.

Bjorn,
Your point about the Jedi and post-Endor era Mandalorians is something that has bothered me a lot in an otherwise excellent show. The older Mandalorians would certainly remember the Jedi and the younger ones would have been taught about them in their shared histories. This just bugs me to no end.
Mark,
I love the show for pretty much every reason you do. It's a terrific "love letter" to Star Wars if you will. It's fun, it's got that "dirty future" look the original trilogy had, it just "feels" more like Star Wars to me. Two episodes into this season and it's really fleshing out the spaghetti western with blasters vibe it had in the first season.
I have always been much more than a casual fan but I've lost a lot of appreciation for the franchise due to the prequels and the sequels. The CGI "Clone Wars" and "Star Wars Rebels" television series are both excellent. I recommend you give them a look-see.
Oh, and yes. The speeder bike troopers bit was priceless.

Best episode yet.
"Oh, he's one of those."
He's just an ignorant member of some extremist faction of Mandalorians. This is exactly how I wanted things to be handled, given what they've shown so far.
Good action and I am relieved that this season didn't turn into the protagonist getting a new tip about Mandalorians each episode and having them be either fakes or traps.
