Since goblins are being added to the core races/ancestries, how about we look at changing some of the others to more Golarion/pathfinder specific races to help differentiate it from DnD and other RPGs with Ye olde fantasy races.
Now humans are central to Golarion so they must stay and I think Elves and Dwarves are core to the fantasy that they should stay. Halflings and gnomes possibly, although they could be swapped for different ones.
Half-elves/orcs I think should go away. They smack too much of being someone earlier wanting their character to be the child of elf/human and wanting a race specifically for it and the half-orc of being lets put a monster in that isn't really a monster. Put them in later, but for core, why not switch them?
Could put aasimar and tieflings in instead. They are interesting and flavourful. I know some have asked for tengu/kitsune/etc but I feel that they are too Tienese for the Inner Sea background we seem to have for the core book. Changelings, rat folk/ysoki, vanara, vishkanya could also be interesting core races instead.

I'd like to see all "half-(whatever creature type)" races, like aasimars, tieflings, etc. on launch, at the very least included in the new Bestiary 1. With no differences between PC and NPC versions, of course (I'm looking at you, Starfinder...).
Many playable races from PF1 Bestiaries 2 and beyond that fit the criteria (including uncommon ones), like suli and wyvaran, would be gladly appreciated if they were included from the start, too.

Gnomes seem to be the race with least impact on Golarion. They just never get any importance in the role besides Fey stuff that is very localized.
At least halflings have that widespread reputation as "Slave Race" so you see them pretty often.
Orcs in Golarion are very specific in the places they appear (Belzken and 5 kings mountains is like ALL orc sightings). They are a surprisingly "rare" enemy that most players never ever encounter. As such, Half-Orc would be even rarer and probably shouldn't be Core. However, they do fit a niche in Game Design standpoint as the "monstrous" guys.
Tieflings are pretty common in adventures, way more so than gnomes, so I think they should be core.

I reckon putting Orc as core would help differentiate from DnD, as well as removing the "mmph" origins of Half Orcs, or at least de-stigmatizing it by allowing us to, pardon the phrasing, humanise orcs, allow for a +strength class in core and,if a player wants to be a Half Orc, use the new ancestry feats to mix it up. I know Paizo's probably got their core races fixed already, so it doesn't /bother/ me, but I think a core race roster of Human, Elf, Dwarf, Orc, Halfling and Goblin would be extremely attractive to new players to TTRPG versus DnD's core races. I don't know if many people give the Gnomes much love, and often new players I've introduced have just laughed at the concept of gnomes, so I personally wouldn't mind them being demoted from core sith half elves and orcs, but I know 4e happened too. Either way, those races are the most common to be encountered in APs iirc (I can only remember one half orc or gnome NPC at all, versus the many dwarves, elves, orcs and halflings), so I don't reckon it'd damage lore aby more than Goblins.
