Interest Check: SFS scenarios run as a non-SFS campaign

Recruitment

Creating a new thread since my original Thread Title was unclear.

I've been looking over the Starfinder material and I am keen to try it out but I am not yet confident in my ability to craft a game wholesale. But PFS scenarios offer "mini-adventures" that could reasonably put together into a plotline. As time goes on and I get the feel for it, I could start crafting my own material.

Understand, I would like to add homebrew elements which means that this game will not be eligible for SFS credit, since SFS games have to adhere precisely with the rules. I don't intend to change a lot but I want the freedom to be able to do so.

I am currently running two online games, one homebrew and the other Pathfinder RotRL. The homebrew game has been running for a couple years now, and the Runelords game will hit the six-month mark in a few days.

I would expect this game to run at a slow pace, maybe one post per day or two. Normally no more than one post per weekend.

How much interest is there in this type of game?

Hello Peet I'm very interested.

I'm in DM_DBH's game with you and in the Colony game which is going through it's transition period.

Full disclosure I've looked at the first SFS adventure and will likely run it and the others... but that wont be for a long way off sadly.

I've got a bunch of character ideas. Would you be open to the possibility of races from Alien Archive? I'm quite happy with the races in the core rulebook but part of me would really love to have a Skittermander PC paired with another players hulking Vesk. Even if it's sticking to the core rulebook there are plenty of races there that interest me.

I haven't bought Alien Archive yet; it won't be available in hardcover where I am for another week or so. Might get the .pdf if I decide I can't wait.

That much being said, I am willing to consider it for the moment. I'd need to look at both the crunch and the fluff. I'd also want a sample roleplaying post to see how the character would play.

Silver Crusade

Definitely interested.

Caveat - I have both played and run every single published SFS scenario and I expect that to be true moving forward. Also have played and will be running the Adventure Path.

Actually I was thinking about it more after I posted... I'd need to put in some work on a Skittermander, being a Starfinder would be fine for one... going through training might be a challenging concept for them to grasp unless presented correctly. They've a very alien outlook on government and organisations. But if I can't make that work and convince you I have ideas for Vesk and Androids in particular... or just a Dwarf... maybe a Dwarven Soldier

Haven't been able to play a game of Starfinder yet, so this has me interested! Thinking about playing a Ysoki Mechanic or maybe a Technomancer.

I would be more interested if you would do the Starfinder Adventure Path. If we play SFS modules, then at the very least we'll have spoilers that will affect the fun if/when we play the module in an official SFS capacity. The Adventure Path should afford the same opportunities to learn the system and you can modify what you want since it's not an official game.

Since the SFS modules are just coming out and everyone will be interested in playing them in the SFS capacity, I think you'll have some problems with overlap. In a year or two, when there are lots of modules, this won't be such a problem.

Of course, you could take the general idea from the SFS module and rework all the names and places so it won't have the spoiler effect, maybe introduce different monsters.

At any rate, I'm hoping to play Starfinder in PBP mode and I've been working on getting one character for each class and race. So I'll have lots of possible characters.

Dotting for interest.

I’m interested in playing SFS scenarios for non-credit. I’m not sure what type of character I’d make though.

I am interested in this.

I am super interested in playing SFS scenarios for fun and with no official credit. Since you aren't looking for official Apps yet I'll hold off on details, but I'm looking at Soldier or Envoy and staying within Core and Legacy races - no Archives on my shelf yet either.

Here’s Goromitali, a vesk envoy icon. If he doesn’t match the themes and style of the campaign, I could submit a lashunta technomancer, or a another character that I’ve made and haven’t found a home for.

BACKGROUND
------------------------------
Among vesks of the Veskorium and to a lesser degree the Pact Worlds, Goromitali is known for being “the student” in a martial arts training show. His great aunt, Avdikesh, was “the master” and broadcast her training Goromitali in the vesk martial art Dhuyogarikras. From the age of six to sixteen, Goromotali spent nearly an hour each day in a studio learning Dhuyogarikras.

Now, as an adult, he has journeyed to the Pact Worlds to create a show exploring alien cultures through unarmed combat. He interviews non-vesk where they talk about the history and development of martial arts and how they influence weapons and armor as well as the surprising intersections with food, clothing, customs, and rituals. Goromitali also interviews vesk who have fought against that episode’s martial art. Each episode culminates in a fight between him and a master.

He has made five videos in the last six months. His first video was with the kasathas, followed by the half-orcs, the Orrians, the verthani, and finally shobhads. He’s currently on Absalom station where he’s doing the initial production work for his videos with humans, lashuntas, and halflings (a nice counterpoint to the shobhad episode he hopes).

Unfortunately the new video project isn’t as popular as his childhood one. In fact, he is losing money on it. The producers he thought he lined up have disappeared. In an effort to reduce his spending, he left his nice apartment for one in the cheaper part of Absalom Station. The studio for martial arts he rented? Vacated. The trips planned remote monasteries? Cancelled for the time being. Goromitali doesn’t have enough money to finish the three episodes he’s working on, but he is actively pursuing other means of funding, such as on-demand task fulfillment, including being a bodyguard, model, actor, and courier.

Just picked up the Alien Archive.

Still getting a handle on things but I like the book overall. It includes Ryphorians (Triaxians) and Verthani (Vercites) who probably should have been core.

I will probably have a proper recruitment thread up soon.

My interest has increased. I had expressed reservations about playing SFS scenarios outside of the official SFS games, but our local PFS and SFS is only offering a couple of games of Starfinder a month and those are at a time and place that is not very good for me, so I'm all in if you are recruiting for a game. Please put the link of the recruitment here when you post it, as I might miss it otherwise. Thanks.

For the record, it's not going to be all SFS scenarios. The idea is to use the scenarios as a way of easing into a GMing a system I don't really know that well yet.

Gradually I hope to be adding homebrew content when I am more familiar with the game, and eventually may drop the scenarios entirely in favor of my own stuff.

I decided not to go with the Dead Suns AP because I am in a game of it and also once the game day games are over I am guessing a bunch of Dead Suns recruitments will appear.

I'm going to set up a recruitment. I'll post a link shortly.

Recruitment is now open.
