Grenade launchers?

Rules Questions

Can a grenade launcher take the -4/-4 and attack twice as a full action. I had a player tonight as a mechanic with a combat drone each loaded with a launcher firing twice each and shooting at a 5 for the square. thus putting out 4 grenades every turn. It was very annoying.

NIL (an acronym for "neutronic individual launcher") grenade
launchers are the most common grenade launcher available
on the market. NI Ls can be fitted with any sort of grenade as
ammunition. Grenades are loaded individually, rather than in
magazines. You can load different types of grenades into a NIL
grenade launcher, and you can select which grenade to fire as
part of the action used to make an attack.

Grenade Launchers don't have the unwieldy property, so they can fire more than once per round. However, it looks like you can only load one grenade in them at a time per move action, rather than exchanging a full clip or battery like you can for most guns.

Yup the reload is the issue is the reload in the end.

Though it costs considerably more, if you wish to bombard need a Bow proficiency.

I wonder how many grenades you load per nil reload

You load one grenade at a time, but it stores up to 6. So feel free to throw money at your enemies!

Amusingly, Firing an Autotarget rifle on full auto costs only 5c less then a frag grenade. So its not event *that* expensive.

Since this is the only topic on this weapon, I have another question: Does the Weapon Specialization feat add bonus damage to shots fired with it?

I would tend to think you don’t, since grenades don’t gain specialization damage. I know, they’re ammunition in this gun, but since it doesn’t say in the book and they’re still grenades, that’s where I’d land.

I'm wondering about heavy weapon specialization too...you use your dex to hit with a grenade launcher...heavy weapon focus would give you a + 1 to hit ...why wouldn't it apply ....you get it to heavy weapons with the explode property

and it says under specialization "you can't ever have specialization in grenades" Not grenades can never benefit from specialization from any source (or something to that effect)

Good thing you're not using grenades, but a heavy weapon. :P

EDIT: Never mind. Page 59: "Grenades, missiles, and other consumable weapons never add specialization damage, even when you’re using weapons like a cyberbow or grenade launcher."

Does make me wonder where I can get a cyberbow though. :P

I'm gonna be a space dragon... lol

I have a question for one of my players: if you take a penalty for using a grenade launcher, such as from Deadly Aim or a full attack, do those penalties still apply to the save DC for the grenade? Like if he takes a -2 for Deadly Aim and a -4 for full attack, does that grenade have a -6 save DC?

Also for that matter, can Deadly Aim even be used with a grenade launcher? It doesn't specify that it is precision damage, so I want to double-check.

Yes, all penalties to the attack are also applied to the save DC.

There is no such thing as "precision damage" in Starfinder. Deadly Aim works on any weapon attack, and is one of the few things that add damage to a grenade.

That said, it does lower the save as well, as stated above.

So are we talking about a Level 20 Mechanic here then?
At level 10 the Drone can make a full attack without his owners actions but its at -6, at level 20 they become -4
On and a quick edit, the weapon has a capacity of 6/12 without Unwieldy, so yeah you can fart out Grenades with some seriously lowered DCs
