Welcome to Society Boon

Good to have them free Welcome to Starfinder boon stuff out there for Starfinder Society. ;)

What should players who have accidentally deleted their -701 do in the meantime? Do we continue marking our sheets with -701, or mark them with a -702 and ask to have them transferred to -701 when -701 is restored?

Liberty's Edge 4/5 5/55/55/5 ****

No, the boon can only be applied to 701. They are aware that some people may have deleted their 701 and are working on getting them restored. I believe Tonya stated this further up the thread.

There is no announced time frame of when the 701 will be restored.

Not referring to the boon itself, but just to players who want to keep playing (and advancing) their -701 character but accidentally deleted it.

Liberty's Edge 4/5 5/55/55/5 ****

Ok. They are working to get those 701 characters restored.

Is there anything that players can do to still get credit for sessions for their -701 despite it being deleted (if they want to keep playing -701)?

Liberty's Edge 4/5 5/55/55/5 ****

Well, the chronicle trump the reporting system. I am not sure if credit can be reported for a character number that been deleted.

I know you can report for a character number that has not been created yet. So maybe it would function the same way. The GM would still report it to 701 but the credit would not appear for the player/character until the 701 is restored.

I honestly don't know on this one.

Okay, thanks. I'm really new to society play, and that's something that happened to me (after first session, accidentally deleted -701, then recreated it with -702 and had the GM of my second session report that session as having -702, but I still have the chronicle sheet from the second one).

In your shoes, I would try to get all the sessions from that character reported to -702 and just use -702 for that character. Whenever you can get your-701 restored, you can just make a new character.

I believe your solution can work, although it will be more work for the VC that needs to handle it. As long as the chronicles are kept, the reporting can be updated once the error is fixed.

Is there a Fillable boon pdf anywhere? or are society games not allowed to be done over the internet?

Society games are played in a variety of ways online. Play by Post, Fantasy grounds, roll20, ect.

You can ask your Game Master to sign you a copy.

Anything further on this?

Hi there! I'm a new Starfinder and SFS player. So the "Welcome to Starfinder" boon says we get "one of the three following options". Does this mean we need to pick one of the three, or we get one each of the three options? I just want to make sure I start on the right foot.

Thanks,
Nick

You get to pick one of the three options, and you cross off those you do not pick.

You pick one and cross off the other two. Remember you can rebuild a character for free until it is played at 2nd level so don't be too quick to pick one.

Hmm, is the Welcome to Starfinder Boon still available? I'm aware it's been well over a year since the latest post here, so not sure if I am looking in the right place for the friends I'm looking to invite here.

It's still available, you just have to search around for it. Thankfully a few places still host a copy.

Thank you for the help. Bit late for me to use it myself, but got some friends who may be interested in starting Organized Play and this seems like a good little nudge for that.

Thankfully, it's not too late unless that character is dead. You can retroactively apply it. Same thing for the 1e PFS Welcome boon.

Liberty's Edge 4/5 5/55/55/5 ****

It is not even retroactive. The welcome boon can be applied at anytime. I applied the PFS1 boon to my -1 when he was 9th level.

Truthfully, most of us had to because we didn’t get it until years later, and Paizo gave special permission. That said, a lot of -1 PCs were either dead or retired by then, so they couldn’t make use of it anyway.

The link for the Welcome Boon directs to a dropbox with a deleted content page... :(

Anywhere else the official source for that boon?

You bet.

Sorry i did mean like has Paizo another official source for this boon?

Great to have a link to the PDF and making it possible to get that boon for all the players who don't have it right now or have lost it for example.
Today and in the future we will get new players and players already settled in could not have this little boon.

So has Paizo hidden another source for this boon on their site?

For now, I’m going to say no. Not on this site. Not “Paizo official links”. The GM Prep site has access to these boons as well, which is where we also find monster stats and maps.

And players are always allowed to retroactively gain the boon.

Brand new to Starfinder and SFS. I was wondering where to find this boon? It's not on the SFS page like the guide said it would be. Do we need this to start playing in SFS?

You don't *need* it, but it's a little something extra for 'just in case' as a one-off for brand new characters (and players). It applies to your -701 character, and once it's used, it's gone.

It's a bit hidden these days, and the one link that is most prominent leads to a deleted DropBox link, so I'm guessing that there are a few kindly souls out there in Starfinderland that might be able to show you a link to a copy.

Why is Paizo hiding it? Should we not use it any more?

I think they just dont have a good place to put it and have that whole protecting everything you've ever written under copywrite thing to worry about.

Are you on any of the discords? If you ping me on pfschat.com I've got one with some handy notes on file.

Thanks, but if they're not making it available, it's probably better to err on the side of caution. Don't want to start breaking rules before I've played any games!

Do it now before serious jail time can accrue! :) (or at least that's what my parents said about commiting felonies as a kid...)

Gonna pass, but thanks.

The boon is intended to be publicly available, and has been available from VOs.

It is now available to everyone;

Download from the Lorespire Archive

This is an official link, and will appear on the Welcome to Starfinder table of contents in the new guide when it drops in several weeks.

Moot point now. I definitely won't be playing any games until after the changes take effect.

4/5 ****

Certainly your prerogative. But I think you are missing out.

Having seen all the changes, there is nothing in there that would invalidate a session or character played before the changes go into effect. And it means you are missing out on your chance to earn fame before it is gone.

Why would I want to earn a resource I can't use?

Grand Archive 4/5 ****

Because you can still use it until December.

Hey, what's fame point and SFS AcP's exchange rate?

Eh, I'm sure the couple I would earn wouldn't be able to buy anything. Better to just go in clean after all of the hullabaloo is over.

By the way, please forgive my rudeness and let me thank you for your reply about the boon.

The site mentioned before is dead.

New link is here.
