Many Modules Campaign Re-Recruitment

Recruitment

1 to 50 of 82 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | next > last >>

I'm looking for two recruits to help even out the current group of adventurers who are in the first of hopefully many different modules. The idea of the campaign is they will jump from module to module, until hopefully reaching level 20.

There will be breaks between the modules when characters tend to personal growth and home matters, but my remaining players have been having a blast so far.

That said, we'd like to pad out the part with 1-2 new members. The current members are in the last spoiler below, and will let you know that the party is in dire need of a healer and a front line combatant A rogue would not be amiss either.

I will also warn you that we are one of the wordier groups, and for examples of how long the posts are you can check out the gameplay thread here.

Character Creation:

• We will be starting at level 1, and be leveling usually through the moderate experience track and key moments during play.
• Races: All standard races from the Pathfinder Core Rulebook will be allowed. Any other PC race will be considered on a case by case basis.
• Classes: All classes from PFRPG core rulebook plus those from the Advanced Player's Guide (APG), Advanced Class Guide (ACG), Ultimate Combat (UC), and Ultimate Magic (UM), Occult Adventures(OA), and Ultimate Intrigue (UI) will be allowed. Any Archetype for these base classes will be allowed.
• Alignment: You can declare an alignment, but for the most part it will be determined by your actions and motivations.
• Abilities: Characters will be based on the High Fantasy (20 point) buy, found in the PFRPG Core Rulebook on page 16.
• Feats: Any feat from the Core Rulebook, APG, ACG, UM, UI, OA, or UC will be acceptable.
• Skills: We will be using the Background Skill system.
• Traits: Characters will start with two traits.
• Hit Points: Characters will start out with Maximum hit points for their class at 1st level. After 1st level character's will roll for their hit points or take the average of their particular hit dice, whichever is greater.
• Starting Gold: Characters will start with Maximum starting gold for their base class as found in the PFRPG Core Rulebook on page 140, or in the APG on page 26.
• I retain the ability to ask you to change something if I find it would upset game balance a bit too much.
• Third Party Pathfinder material and 3.5 material are not currently allowed.
• Unchained options are allowed, but you must fully commit. Meaning, you cannot choose the unchained version of a barbarian but choose the non-unchained version of one of his rage powers.

Things you should know:

• While I don't mandate posting every day, I do hope you will post frequently. If you will be gone for a decent span of time, please inform me and I will bot you as necessary.
• I will be using a mix of Roll20 and no maps for combat, but all rolls and role-playing will be done in the gameplay thread of this campaign.
• Keep Min-maxing to a minimum, please. I understand the joy of a powerful character, but I like to see reasons behind character decisions. Relevant background reasons, not "its the most effective."
• If your character sheet is difficult to reach or read, that is a bad thing.
• I'm going to push this thing as far as it will go, up to level 20 if possible. If you want a short succinct adventure that will only last one module, please do not apply.
• The number one deciding factor that will boost your chances of selection is if you have a very real character, one that oozes personality, backstory, and motivation. At times, I have chosen lopsided parties of characters I enjoyed and worked with the chosen players to balance the party after selection.

Things about the Current Party:

Owl, the no-nonsense investigator
Lia Neve, the academic sorceress with a follower cleaning up after he
Laetitia Corvus, the sultry psionic seductress
Kalisuel, the outcast tiefling fighter who can't get a break
• Everyone argues, all the time, and I think they're enjoying it. A buffer character would be great.
• The party really needs a frontliner and a healer more than anything else currently.

Recruitment will run until I find suitable replacements, but I'll give folks a day or two warning before I close.

Dotting. I'll make a Cleric. Probably will have time tomorrow. For backstory... any suggestions for character relationship or plot hooks to work with?

Hi,
I'm new to PbF! I'm interested in playing. How do I go about learning more about your campaign? :D

Interesting. I will see what I can come up with. And hopefully I come with recommendations considering I think I have adventures with some of your other players.

Is there a specific game world for this?

@ Zanbabe
Your backstory should be somewhat selfcontained. If chosen, you can weave in a couple other characters. However, even the current party wouldn't call each other friends at this point.

@ M498sierra
Welcome to the boards!

I would recommend you read this guide linked here. It will be very helpful to learn how posting works and what is generally expected of you.

If you're a voracious reader, then move onto this for even more tips on how things work here.

@ Edward Sobel
It takes place in Golarion, the party moving from place to place as the narrative demands.

I don't know if I'll create a character yet. I wanted to ask a couple of questions,

1. Is everyone level 1 or will we be starting one level below everyone else.

2. can you choose Traits from other APs player guides as one of your traits? because the group is just playing modules.

3. I've read a couple of your recruitment threads it looks like on some of the others you expanded and edited your feat selection to any Pazio source. is that the same in this one?

4. do you allow a drawback for a extra trait?

thank you.

Noted. I like to have a hook to build around, but I'll just make one up. I guess the fact that they argue all the time is a hook in itself. :)

I knew I forgot some details to change.

Please make a level 2 character as the party recently leveled.

I'd prefer if you did not take another APs trait.

As far as fears go, most anything Paulo has published is fine unless I find an article or thread about how OP it is.

If you choose a drawback for an extra feat, I want to see the drawback that regularly comes up. But yes, I'll allow it.

If you want a detail to build around, it would make sense for your character to be traveling.

Cleric Level 2 Hit Points: 1d8 ⇒ 6

(And cool. Travel it is.)

Hi, this is one of the players that is currently in DM Default's game. I'm the one that plays Kali and the GM is not joking when he says she can't catch a break. We are having a lot of fun and are looking forward to having some new characters along to help us out/add fuel to the fire. ;)

Kali was built to be a frontliner, but once we realized we didn't have a healer, I decided to branch out into a class that could heal, but things haven't worked out like we'd hoped. For one, Poor Kali got hammered to her knees through a string of bad luck and not being able to go for the lethal option. For another, well, you'll see. :)

Also, lemme say hey to Ed and Zanbabe. Always cool to see people I've played with or am playing with apply to games I'm in. :D

Hey. I didn't know you were in this game. :) Cool. I'll make sure to build a character that will bring misery to Kali's life. Oh wait... did I say misery? I meant happiness, of course.

By the way, DM Default, can I have a dinosaur (Scalykind domain, subdomain Saurian)? ;)

Hey! I've made a character and he's pretty nice but i'll post later, long story short, hes a front line area control defender, a Blight druid dipping into Monk (chained) obsessed with radiation and the entity he cals The Glow, which appears to him in dreams.

Im super ecsited to play him, just need to re-spec him to 2 nd level.

Hey Default GM!

I could resubmit http://paizo.com/people/Dunganagar The Mad for this game, since you didn't go for him in the other recruitment. Or I could come up with a buffer/healer character.

First person backstory:

"If it doesnt kill you, it makes you stronger"
Tis was he told when the experiment started. Obviously, IT didnt. What was it? The elders say it's just a swarm of high energy particles, the experiment was meant to bring the change early, but he was now incapable of changing into an elder. But he saw IT, IT spoke to him. They say he had wild ravings. He left, crippled but wizer than many of his bretheren.
"If it doesnt kill you, it makes you stronger". This has become his motto. To live where no one else dares to tread. He wasnt alone. There were others like him but, they had "ears", weirdness was everywhere they treaded. But he learnt from them, he became the servant of IT. The Glow, they called it that, mesmerising and mysterious to others, but to him, it was IT, IT was everywhere he looked, even in normals. He had changed, the fishy maw of his former form has become an eight of withering tentackles, his skin lost its few scales and became more rubbery, his eyes turned into bulbous, pitch-black orbs. He heard of a place where IT dwelt. He came to Numeria. IT was there, but he wanted more, he will have more, untill all he sees becomes a searing, exalted light, he knew IT's name, he called it the Glow.

Do you like it? My character?

As a note, your plan for a campaign is exactly what i long for. Also, hes a buffer, debuffer tank. Wildshape focused.

Later in the campaign, i want to make a flying hot tub with seawater and travel in it, and get +2 to reflex and init, haha. Seriously.

here are the bare bones of Geoff, trying a combo Fighter/Barbarian for a frontliner

barbarian HP: 1d12 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 3 + 1 = 11

Need to do his Equipment and choose a second trait.Maybe do some background too.

I'm a regular player, playing with Adam in other games

Hi peps

Dark Archive

You can chec my newly edited character here

Dotting for interest. (Thanks for the shout-out, Adam!)

Contemplating a bard or possibly a cleric...

Dark Archive

So when do any of us start? When will you chose? When is the deadline?

What mods are you hitting in this Default?

I might submit as I enjoy your other games but if you are hitting APs or Mods that I run or play in I'd rather leave the spot for a Player who is not currently in any of those campaigns. Feel free to PM me ;-)

Would like to submit Eban here. He's a super healer through mundane and magical means, especially channels and other life oracle methods. He will also be able to buff folks and equipment through Bless Equipment. He is also a Diplomacy guy, and his build will give him several enchantment SLAs and spells to use when sweet reason fails.

As an oracle, he reveres Dalenydra, the empyreal lord of battlefield healers. He's also a pacifist, in that he won't want to initiate violence. Against your basic NPCs or humanoids, he would probably never make an attack roll, probably preferring to negotiate when possible, and may even get caught stabilizing enemies after they've been defeated. I can see his aversion to violence not applying to evil outsiders, constructs, evil aberrations, and undead.

His basic backstory is that he was a field medic somewhere there was fighting, perhaps Galt, and he became fed up with the senseless killing and how little of a difference he could make, so he deserted.

Dark Archive

Im a buffer character too.

ok 2nd level HP roll

not sure which class so will be making so i will roll both just in case

brawler: 1d10 ⇒ 2
barbarian: 1d12 ⇒ 11

Dark Archive

Oh its bad luck for you to be a brawler.

Additional Information
Just to make sure everyone is aware, a few alterations to the rules. As long as it is officially Paizo published, most feats are allowed.

Also, I would like you to create a level 2 character.

If you want an additional trait, you may take a drawback but please make it one that will actually come up during play.

@ Zanbebe
I think that'd be alright.

@ Peet
Your choice. Part of recruitment is deciding which character to submit.

@ Bohdan Maksymenko
I'll go over characters at the end to avoid bias.

@ Vik'richir
As stated in the OP, I'll announce when the recruitment will end in one or two days. I don't have a hard date, but it will be relatively soon.

@ Storyteller Shadow
I have them in a stack, but would rather keep mum on the exact ones. I'll send you a pm later.

Submitted Characters
Eban Taldrom - Male Aasimar (Idyllkin) Life Oracle (Spirit Guide (Life))
Vik'richir - Male Deep One Hybrid Blight Druid
Geoff Raneker - Male Human Fighter Barbarian

Dark Archive

Bohdan Maksymenko and Vik'richir are the same user.

@ Vik'richir
Noted.

Sczarni

Ok finished.

Ed here, I have this barbarian that seems to have a rather hard time getting out of Sandpoint.

At least one of you will know her....

Grand Lodge

Is this still available I would love to play a lower level version of a Halfling Unchained Rogue

Question on the 2nd level wealth level... do we still just start with max character wealth from 1st level, or more than that?

Also, thanks on the dinosaur, but I decided to not go there. :) I'm almost finished with a Cleric of Exploration and Whimsy (Deity Hathor, primary Domains Travel and Chaos). She's a Tour Guide (I'm assuming there have to be tourists in Golarion). :) I love her so far... we'll see how she goes over with others. :)

Grand Lodge

I just read you need a buffer and a healer, WOuld a Human Skald work?

What area of Golarion are we currently in?

Currently we're in the village/town of Ilsurian. It's a small settlement in Varisia on Lake Syrantula where the Skull River empties into it. It's about 3 or 4 days from Whistledown and about three weeks from Magnimar.

@Eschie & Haladir: Hello! thanks for stopping by.

@Noro: Oh boy, I do remember Noro. Do I ever.

I was thinking of putting together a Chirurgeon/Wasteland Blighter/Promethean Alchemist, would you be willing to allow me to use the Building and Modifying Constructs rules to improve the ability scores and armor of my Homunculus Companion?

Here's Zanbabe's submission.

Median Zeroux, Cleric of Hathor: Mistress of Jubilation
Domains: Travel/Exploration and Chaos/Whimsy
Occupation: Tour Guide

Everything is in the alias and it should be done except equipment. Have to total it up, buy a few more things... but skills, spells, background, etc. should all be there. Might add to background if I have time.

Grand Lodge

Straight Fighter Halfling is what I am working on. Gonna try to be a small but mighty Frontliner!!!

@ Critzible
Yes the recruitment is still active.
Your decision on what would be best to submit. Take a look at the party, and see if you fit in or chafe against the other's strengths.

@ Zanbebe
Your characters will have max level wealth of 1st level.

@ Master Han Del of the Web
I will admit, I've never used the rules before so I automatically shy away from its use. But for now, I'm going to say no.

Submitted Characters
Eban Taldrom - Male Aasimar (Idyllkin) Life Oracle (Spirit Guide (Life))
Vik'richir - Male Deep One Hybrid Blight Druid
Geoff Raneker - Male Human Fighter Barbarian
Noro Kasuri - Female Human Barbarian
Median Zeroux - Female Human Cleric of Hathor

@ AdamWarnock
Thanks for pitching in with answers :)

Dotting with an oracle

Dark Archive

@GM Default, i have a qwestion.

How common will magic items be in your campaign? Can you loot some body to find a +2 bekt of giant strength, for example?

DM Default wrote:

@ Peet

I suppose I am fishing for an indication from you whether you specifically didn't like that character or it just didn't win out against the other selections.

But I'll submit Dunganagar for now and if I change my mind before the deadline I'll let you know.

Background would end with the survivors of the Iron Brothers going their separate ways.

Peet

Announcement

I am officially stating that the end of the recruitment will take place on Thursday morning, in two days.

@ Vik'richir
Magic items will appear in a believable manner. For example, random thugs will not be carrying magic loot more often than not. But a bandit lord might have a magic item that gives him superiority over his mooks.

@ Peet
If you want feedback for you last charcter from my other submission, I don't mind giving you that as I usually offer it during regular recruitments. I don't promise that with changes he'll make a spot, nor will you like my reasonings.

Please send me a PM if you'd like to hear my thoughts on Dunganagar.

Well, it won't be relevant for a few levels anyway. If the archetype feels like it is underperforming I might ask for a reevaluation.

HP for Alchemist: 1d8 ⇒ 5
HP for Homunculus: 2d10 ⇒ (6, 3) = 9

Average across the board then

Oracle hp: 1d8 ⇒ 2

Dark Archive

Good luck everybody.

Dark Archive

@GM Default, i have another qwestion, how much time do you allow beetween post, one in a week? Or a post on specific days, like monday and friday? This can help narrow down timeframes.

1d10 ⇒ 8

Character build should be fleshed out. Will work on backstory tonight.

Some background for Eban added to his profile.
