SPECIAL ABILITIES
Life Link (Su) At 1st level, a summoner forms a close bond with his eidolon. Whenever the eidolon takes enough damage to send it back to its home plane, as a reaction to the damage, the summoner can sacrifice any number of hit points he has without using an action. Each hit point sacrificed in this way prevents 1 point of damage dealt to the eidolon. This can prevent the eidolon from being sent back to its home plane.

In addition, the eidolon and the summoner must remain within 100 feet of one another for the eidolon to remain at full strength. If the eidolon is beyond 100 feet but closer than 1,000 feet, its current and maximum hit point totals are reduced by 50%. If the eidolon is more than 1,000 feet away but closer than 10,000 feet, its current and maximum hit point totals are reduced by 75%. If the eidolon is more than 10,000 feet away, it is immediately returned to its home plane. Current hit points lost in this way are not restored when the eidolon gets closer to its summoner, but its maximum hit point total does climb to the levels indicated and eventually returns to normal.

Summon Monster I (Sp) At 1st level, a summoner can cast summon monster I as a spell-like ability a number of times per day equal to 5 + his Charisma modifier. Drawing on this ability uses up the same power that the summoner uses to call his eidolon. As a result, he can use this ability only when his eidolon is not summoned. He can cast this spell as a standard action, and the creatures remain for 1 minute per level (instead of 1 round per level). At 3rd level, and every 2 levels thereafter, the power of this ability increases by 1 spell level, allowing him to summon more powerful creatures (to a maximum of summon monster IX at 17th level). At 19th level, this ability can be used as gate or summon monster IX . If used as gate, the summoner must pay any required material components. A summoner cannot have more than one summon monster or gate spell active in this way at one time. If this ability is used again, any existing summon monster or gate from this spell-like ability immediately ends. These summon spells are considered to be part of the summoner’s spell list for the purposes of spell trigger and spell completion items. In addition, the summoner can expend uses of this ability to fulfill the construction requirements of any magic item he creates, so long as he can use this ability to cast the required spell.

Wealthy Dabbler (Trait) You studied magic briefly at the Karameikan School of Magecraft, and can wow your friends with your expertise in the simplest of magical exploits. Select two non-harmful arcane cantrips (mage hand, open/close). You can cast these two cantrips once per day each (caster level 1st). If you have levels in a class that can cast these cantrips, your caster level for these cantrips is equal to that class level.

BACKGROUND
The only daughter of Lord Lucan Atticus Naso, Baron of Ustos, a very small realm in the foothills north of Haven, Lady Adria lived a modestly-privileged life suitable for a lady of nobility. Her childhood was filled with lessons on culture and history, riding and magic, and embroidery and idle gossip. Her father, a former adventurer, had accounted himself of some note, when, along with his four adventuring compatriots, had thwarted the plots of a country earl with treasonous and infernal intentions. With their success, the five had been granted titles of nobility, and the traitorous earl’s county was divided into a set of small, connected baronies for them to rule. Unfortunately, their adventuring party had been one of convenience and mutual benefit rather than friendship, so it took little time for the five realms to begin sniping at each other with the eventual goal of ousting the others and reuniting the earldom into one larger realm once more.

Adria was six when one of her father’s former associates successfully bribed a servant to put poison in her father’s wine. With him dead, his enemies had little resistance to come in in force, slaying any members of the family they could find. Adria’s mother and brothers perished that night to treachery, but Adria was spared through the quick-thinking and heroism of her father’s former squire turned loyal butler, Mr. Borgov, who fought through enemy forces and brought her to the safety of her distant cousin, Lord Philius Aurius, the Earl of Spintrov. There, she became Lord Spintrov’s ward, was raised by Borgov, and continued her study of magic.

It took many years for her enemies to find her and build enough reach to come after her in Spintrov, but come they did: disguised mercenaries ambushed her small hunting party one midsummer’s afternoon, and while Lord Spintrov's armsmen fought bravely, the mercenaries were too many. Lord Spintrov's daughters were unharmed, though the same would not have been true for Lady Adria had Borgov, ever loyal, not sacrificed himself for her to escape. ”Run, my lady,” she still remembers his soft, rich baritone. ”And live.”

With nowhere safe to go, Lord Spintrov gave her a letter of introduction to another distant cousin, Lady Martella Romanova, an adjunct professor of summoning at the Karameikan School of Magecraft, and Adria left that very night. Her purse was stolen one night, her horse another, but she continued on on foot, soon with little more than the ragged clothes on her back and the precious letter of introduction, without which, she was totally lost.

On her journey, she continued to practice her skills in magical summoning and one evening by her pitiful fire, she finally perfected a difficult ritual, summoning a spiritual companion to her side. Her eyes were closed when she first heard that soft, rich baritone say, ”My lady, you live.” No longer alone, Lady Adria Atticus, Baroness of Ustos, and her loyal butler Borgov, arrived in Specularum and presented her letter to Lady Martella, who quickly took her in and tried in vain to undo some of the self-learning the young lady had begun. With regimented arcane study of conjuration not well-suited for the still-unformed young woman, Lady Adria soon left to see the world, of course accompanied by her ever-loyal, spectral butler.

DESCRIPTION
Lady Adria is a slight girl of 19 years, who wears a scholar’s robe which hides her readied crossbow. Her short, rust-brown hair is swept to one side and piercing blue eyes have seen too much in her short life. While stern on the outset, those who come to know her soon see her warmer, kinder side, and those whom she trusts, which are very few indeed, see her silly, prankster side.
