Swoops in, obliterates six cells of the Cult Of The Dragon before anyone can lift a finger, Polymorphs into three different cats so he can sneak in and cuckold three different rulers, and then makes it back to his tower by sunrise to chief and berate Lhaeo.
Probably just jellin.
this is why.

I prepurchased my tickets for the Thursday night showing already. I'll probably be seeing it twice that week, once after work on Thursday and on Sunday with the wife and spawn.
Can't wait! I mean I'm a *little* more excited for this right now than I am for Infinity War and I'm EXCITED for Infinity War! Maybe because IW is still so far off and BP is much closer? but still...

I'm in with the BP movie an'all but that leap off the crashing car...
He leaps up off the car....then in a nice slo-mo shot he's tumbling above the car (travelling at the same speed)... then he descends....and lands on a car 20 feet in front!
Great shot...but physics, man!
I know, superhero movie, but it bugs me.

It's a superhero action flick. Physics is curled up in the corner whimpering.
Still, he's not just jumping up, he's jumping forward, He's jumping to the car ahead, like he does in another shot without the slow-mo and the crashing car to distract.

Wow that guy can edit!
That he can.
Not trying to derail at all, but check out his excellent Galactic Civil War one.

Just saw the movie, and I think we are allowed to post reactions to it. If not for the huge Star Wars news today I would probably be talking more about this.
Very good movie. Considering the deluge of genre movies we are getting these days, this is what a super hero movie needs to aspire to. This is what ANY action movie needs to aspire to. Nearly on par with the first Iron Man or Winter Soldier. And with remarkable music that blows those two away.
As an aside, this movie has heavy political backdrop running its engine the same way Winter Soldier had.
Do you know how we now think of Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark or Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, well Chadwick Boseman is an EXCEPTIONAL Black Panther. He threw himself literally into the role/roll. Marvel has a new star.
And Michael B. Jordan is just as great at Killmonger, so we get both a new Iconic hero and villain in this movie.
I think anyone who got to be in a horrible Fantasic Four movie as the Human Torch redeems themselves by becoming another character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The supporting cast does just as good a job as the main characters, GREAT casting here all around. They made the movie that much better.
There are two post credit scenes so stay in your seats.
Calling it now, Black Panther sequel to be announced this month.

Pretty impressive. I don't think it will dethrone my two favorite Marvel movies but it does a good job of muscling in to the second tier alongside A1, CA:WS and SM:H. It's significantly better than the rest of what they've given us. Good characters, good world and set building, good actors and a plot that mostly made sense. And Shuri. Shuri should get her own movie.
Lastly, actually good and noticeable music. Actually, music is a mix between the awful and awesome. Awful techno/rap/hiphop s%*$ and awesome flavorful percussion.
The one major weakness is that most of the melee action was too close up, too heavily edited with jump cuts, too much camera circling and swoops, and some shaky-cam. I will freely admit that any shaky-cam is way too much for my taste, but even ignoring that, the end result was that lots of the action seemed messy and unimpressive - something Marvel movies have suffered from recently. Oddly enough, the full CG melee sequences were better even if they were very obviously jerky CG models because you easily saw what was going on.
@Thomas: no, not that I noticed at least.

What would an asteroid of the stuff do? Maybe wipe out the dinosaurs?
I wonder if Wakandan legend was unaware that the asteroid broke before it hit. Maybe that lower grade Vibranium had a different effect? Actually countered the main one - preserving life around it.
No Soul Gem. I think the theory is true. In Thor's vision, Heimdall is blind because the eyes that see the souls of all living beings have been taken.
I like the parallel tech.
Did anyone feel N'Baku reminded them of Brian Blessed as Vultan? Big guy. Booming voice. Boisterous attitude.

I enjoyed it. It plays more like a Shakespearean tragedy than anything else. I agree that the action was mostly standard and not that well shot. I think that the action was well EXECUTED by the actors and the stuntpeople just not well SHOT.
I think that while the plot wasn't complex there was an emotional complexity to the conflict between the T'challa and the antagonist to the point where T'challa feels some sympathy for this person that he obviously has to fight and defeat, especially near the end.
My top three Marvel movies still remain my top 3 (CA: WINTER SOLDIER, CA: CIVIL WAR and THE AVENGERS) but THOR: RAGNAROK and BLACK PANTHER have firmly muscled in and replaced my 4 & 5 on the list of Marvel Studios films.
I'll be seeing BP again on Sunday with the wife and spawn and again on Monday morning with my Mom.

Just one question Baron!
** spoiler omitted **
Saw the movie this morning. I really enjoyed it.
The only other reason I could think of that Thanos might attack Wakanda is that he would need the vibranium for his plot, but I don't see why that would be. His goal is to get the stones. Once he has them, vibranium seems to become rather redundant.

BP starts about 1 week after Civil War, and the climax is some period later.
And the attacks would hit almost the same time as Kaecilius was attacking. Almost as if someone really wanted those three cities crippled/destroyed.

Black,
There is an answer! It's called (appropriately enough!) Doomwar!

Quit trying to bait Freehold, please.
Y-Wings are serviceable fighter-bombers with nice bucket seats and appropriate firepower.
Sort of like the farm truck of starfighters.
The little bit I remember of comic canon lore between Wakanda and Latveria is that Doom and T'Challa accord each other the respect they are due as leaders of their respective nations, and mostly avoid interfering in the other's affairs -- in part because it'd cause... issues.
EDIT: Ninja'd by Thomas with facts that were not known.

Ha, I knew it was too good an idea not to have been done at some point.
