My favorite part of Blade 3 was when Blade does a backflip, saves a baby from Dracula, and then turns to the child and says (in his tough-guy action hero voice) "...coochie coo"

No, really, that happened

AND I just realized Dracula is played by Dominic Purcell or Mick Rory aka heat wave on Legends

I'm not saying he seems like a great person but I can see the course. Already kind of rough (I mean action star and you know intimidating fellow) Hits some hard times and amplifies how bad the situation already is.

I vaguely remember an interview with Ryan Reynolds after the movie about how his mother came to the set and met Wesley Snipes and gushed to her son how nice he was and showed her around and was just a delight, and Reynolds was like, "What? We've worked together for a month and he still hasn't even talked to me!"

Of course it was Ryan Reynolds, so he said it much funnier than I just did. :)

The purple effects are pretty amazing. I love how colorful this movie is looking. I'm hoping that it isn't washed out too much, and is allowed to be all vibrant and pop off the screen. (I've seen online that Marvel does something in post that tones down the colors a bit, although it's entirely possible that what they do is not jack *up* the colors as much as some other movies...)

maybe he just (not so) secretly hates Ryan Reynolds. He can be pretty polarizing.

Whatever their doing to tone down the colors DC must be doing it like 15 times.

Yeah, though they have started to fix these issues. Guardians of the Galaxy vol 2 was just as vibrant and colorful as trailers promised, even more so at some points. I think they have taken this lesson well and given more freedom for color grading in these movies.

They've learned that non earthscapes shouldn't be limited by earth palettes, see Thor Ragnarok, GOTG and apparently what looks like Black Panther's ancestor communing/spiritscape

Color, sound distortion and frame speed, instantly tell the viewer they're looking at something elsewhere, something Guillermo del Toro has mastered

Yeah, but your hate is blind and unreasoning.

What was that? I'm sorry, I can't hear you, I'm busy burning this green lantern movie merchandise.

Dial it down fanboy by the time Lantern Corps comes out it'll all be forgotten. And proof your hate is irrational......

Alton Brown.

I will remember Reynolds sins if no one else will!

What? So I hate Alton Brown. How is that irrational?

You've seen what he's done to iron chef. No one can defend that.

I don't hate Ryan Reynolds for what was truly a crap screen writers rewrite.

I hate that we had a crappy Green Lantern.

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Rulebook Subscriber

yeah I feel like the script and production design let Green Lantern down more than Reynolds. So far at least he has been a pretty fantastic Deadpool!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Indeed. He's the best Deadpool much like Christopher Reeves was the best Superman.

It's pretty clear Ryan Reynolds has atoned for Green Lantern and shown his regret.

{begins typing pitch to DC Comics: "Goodest Night", where all the Green Lanterns, JJ Abrams, Michael Bay are killed, and Alton Brown becomes the new GL of Earth/Sector 2814}

Meh. I’ve seen worse movies than Green Lantern.

Anywho, I'm glad we've got Boseman for the Black Panther. Wesley Snipes has just a tad more swagger than I want for the King of Wakanda.

I want the Black Panther to be someone who doesn't always look as dangerous as he is, with a sort of human layer over the scary panther dude underneath. I haven't seen Snipes in a lot (Demolition Man, the Blade movies), but he seems more intense and 'on' 24/7. All scary cat, no friendly façade over it.

Did you see the first "Major League?" (i.e. the one that was actually funny?) Wesley Snipes was great as Willie Mays Hayes, and pretty darn hilarious. I think *that* Wesley Snipes could have played T'Challa. Don't get me wrong -- I think Chadwick Boseman is a great actor (which reminds me, I still need to see "Get On Up"), and I think he is all but perfect for the role. I just think an early 90s Wesley Snipes could have done it well, too. Much like the way Tom Holland is great as Spider-Man, but I can still appreciate Tobey McGuire from the first two Raimi films.

Nyet, comrades. (He likes JJ Abrams and Michael Bay, BTW.) The activation sequence for Freehold aka The Winter Manliness is:

{in Russian:} Alton Brown. Joss Whedon. Summer. The Hunger Games. Elminster. Math. Ryan Reynolds. Dubbed Anime. Harmony Gold. Frozen.

{prudently runs like hell for a place to hide}

From an outsider's (Edit: no pun intended) perspective, I think Freehold just has a low tolerance for sub-par remakes and directors/companies who adapt previous material without bringing much (if anything) new to the mix, especially if their prime motivation seems to be making a quick buck off a beloved property. That seems to cover most of his Hates.

I'd like to buy the rights to that statement.

Freehold definitely hates my taste in music.

But regardless, BP is hyped for the right reasons. :)

...so you're actually a Goblin, Freehold?

Back on track: Curious to see how much impact this will have moving forward on the Infinity arc, and if the Wakandans had somehow ended up with a Stone.

Wei,

I think they might given that I MIGHT have stumbled over the plot summary to Thor Ragnarok...

I hope not, or if they did it was just a treasure they kept locked up.

Well, the missing Gem is the Soul Stone and the Black Panthers have long had a connection with the spirits of the dead - past Panthers at least. Maybe something they don't even know about, but it affects the country anyway - hidden in the heart of the vibranium mound?

If it's not in Thor, it pretty much has to be here and that kind of makes sense.

If it's something like that then I don't really have problem with it.

(The Main Antagonist for Ragnarok is Hel, so there's that.... though I believe I saw spirits in one of the BP trailers)

Rysky,

Ahem!

Spoiler:
At no point in the plot summary of Ragnarok did Hela use or was there ANY mention of one of the Infinity stones other than the beginning and a fight between Surtur and Thor. So my guess? It's in BP.

Swoops in, obliterates six cells of the Cult Of The Dragon before anyone can lift a finger, Polymorphs into three different cats so he can sneak in and cuckold three different rulers, and then makes it back to his tower by sunrise to chief and berate Lhaeo.

Probably just jellin.

Be fair, Elmminster is pretty damn annoying.
