If I remember correctly Waffle batter has egg in it, while Pancake batter doesn't.
Pancakes have egg in them. Waffles just have more of them, and more fat and more sugar. It's what makes them crisp.
I encourage people to make their own pancake and waffle mixes. It's easy to do, uses ingredients you already have at home, and is better than boxed mixes in every possible way.
Alton's Brown's pancake mix recipe is very good and we use it exclusively now, though when making the pancakes with it we go with 1 cup whole milk and 1 cup buttermilk (his batter recipe calls for 2 cups of buttermilk). We prefer the taste of the blend, though the pancakes aren't quite as thick.

Now I have remembered a player I had. She brought cupcakes everyday. One day she complained about one of the other players not hugging her, and she said she was going to stop bringing cupcakes until he gave her hugs. We all laughed, thinking she was kidding. She never brought cupcakes again. It was weird.

Swedish pancakes with Lingonberry jam (sp?).
It's even better with strawberry or blueberry jam. Or my mother's childhood favourite: butter (which melts on the pancake) and sugar.

Raspberry jam and whipped cream is good too. And if you go with butter, you want extra finely ground sugar.
Crepes with ice cream is delightful.

Real maple syrup is a myth here. I think you can only find it in very specific shops. It's one of those things I've always wanted to taste because it sounds delicious.

It is! I grew up on it. My grandmother had a stand of sugar maples that we'd tap each year and make our own syrup and candies. To this day I can't stand any of the fake stuff. But I do sometimes go with blueberry syrup.

I am mostly against all kind of fake stuff. Having worked as a cook, I can't stand precooked anything. I'd rather not eat something than buying a precooked version of it. And I love baking all kind of stuff, specially pizzas, empanadas and all kind of sponge cakes.
I've never tried to do my own preserves, only "angel hair" (the online translators tell me that the right name is "spaghetti squash preserve"), but I want to try.

New York State Maple Weekends/Festivals should be happening over the rest of March.
Just go to their site

and enter "Maple" in the search and watch the map explode with almost 400 pins in the state! I know other places also produce it, but they suck.
It shouldn't be too hard to order some, the darker the better, and some yummy Maple sugar candies too!:-P

I make a savoury pancake (singular - it's a colossal great Batter Ooze in a frying pan) by finely chopping up bacon, spring onions and mushrooms, frying the mixture for a few minutes and then pouring pancake mix over the whole lot.
Very tasty, but probably not very good for you.

Just check the ingredients, 100% Maple syrup. If it says something else, leave it.

100% is good but be ready to adjust your expectations. The typical waffle house aunt Jemima stuff is loaded with sugar and natural maple isn't nearly that sweet.

Hmmmmm...Brownies.
Next on my to do list: darkest chocolate brownie with berries and white chocolate chips! Personal favorite and it's been a long time since I baked my last brownie.

We used to play at a fairly large-ish FLGS in a town near where I live. One weekend we were laughing and having a really good time during our game (like we always did) and a woman from a nearby table comes over and lays a dish of strawberry cupcakes on our table. She told us that she was hoping we'd be there that night because any group that was having that much fun deserved cupcakes... lol

We used to play at bars when I didn't have my own house and sometimes a bunch of kids came to look at us.
It was a bit embarrasing because we mainly played WoD and we had a lot of topics that weren't suitable for kids.

Here in the States I bet people would be asked to leave most bars. People here are still so backwards sometimes for a "first world" country.

Here people live in bars. Not that people drink a lot, but they are the main meeting place. I hate them because most are very noisy, not the best place to play a game.

Bars here are full of televisions turned to full blast with sports on them, or in my county (which is dry, meaning you can't buy liquor in stores) you can only drink in restaurants that have special permits. There are no "stand alone" bars in my county. Even the one live music venue in my city has to serve food as part of the deal. So, to just go hang out at a bar you have to go to one that serves food, too. You don't have to buy food, but the place has to offer it. It's not like that in every county of my state (Arkansas), but I don't want to drive the 30 minutes to the next county just to sit in a noisy, smoky bar to play my games. My state is fairly backwards compared to many others, and with the current state legislature it's getting worse, I think.
I live in large city for my state (63 thousand people) and it's got just about the most churches per capita than any other county. I have no problem with religion or the practice of it, but when they first announced that restaurants could serve alcohol some churches picketed them or put ads in the newspaper saying they would never eat at those places again.

I live in the opposite of DM cal there is like two churches and a bar on every corner in my city. Most have board game groups but rarely ever do I see TTRPGs getting any play time. Honestly, I dont like TTRPGs even at game stores, too noisy and not enough privacy.
We did just get rid of an archaic "blue law" recently of liquor stores not being allowed to open on Sundays. A local liquor store giant just got 30 day license suspension for jumping the gun. Sad you can get plowed at a bar on sunday but cant just pick it up and go home.

Blue laws are strange and vary so much from state to state. I can remember when Walmart was closed on Sundays here. Not they're all 24 hour "super centers" or what not.
Anyway, back to pancakes! LOL

There are 3 colleges in my smallish town. But no actual 'stand alone" bars. They're all part of some of the restaurants. And no liquor stores.

Here alcohol is served everywhere (not that everybody takes it, but it's not weird seeing a group having a beer, a coffee, and some water). Banning alcohol would be impossible as wine an beer are so rooted into our tradition that it would be disgraceful for economy.
Here food is served in most bars, but not all serve meals (most of them offer sandwiches and basic dishes) but all serve tapas (a small dish served at noon and late afternoon) and pinchos (a variety of sweet or salted treats). Pinchos are often free but tapas are free or not depending on the town you are in. In my town they are free and very abundant! Sometimes you go to a place just because the quality of the food even if you're not going to eat there, and there are a few places where you can order two drinks and have the equivalent of a full meal for free.

Waffles with salted caramel ice cream.
Day to day, I prefer pancakes to waffles. I like waffles, but pancakes are true comfort food for me. Also, pancakes are my preferred camping breakfast.
One thing I love is to cook 2 strips of bacon, when they're about halfway done (to your preference), pour pancake batter over them. Cook the pancakes as normal. The pancake gets a little fried in the bacon grease.

DM Cal- Tapas are small versions of a dish that are served for free with a drink or paying a reduced price ( here in my town they are free).
Popular tapas are smalls amount of paella, chorizo cooked in wine, pasta salad, fried potatos with garlic sauce, etc. But they can be very creative (there are competitions to create the best and more original tapas), and they can be any kind of dish served in small amounts.
Pinchos in the other way are even smaller, a small trait that is served always for free with the drink and you can eat in a bite or two. Depending on the time of the day it can be a small piece of sponge cake, a bite of tortilla, a cut of a sandwich, etc. The waiter often comes with a variety of them on a tray and you can choose the one you want.

I figured IHOPs would be everywhere! What we DON'T have here in Arkansas (and it makes me sad) are Jack in the Box and Five Guys Burgers.
You are but aren't missing out on Five Guys. It's really just like the burger you'd make at home. Big and tasty. The fries though...a normal order of fries can feed my sister and I. I was starving last time I got there and ordered the large fries. I think we started a potato shortage with all the fries we got!
I lurve me some Five Guys.
The fries (and generosity) is pretty amazing, but I like the burgers the best, and I can say tha-

Burgers are really easy to cook, Tacticslion. I ask my butcher to shred a good piece of meat for me and I do them at home.

When you do it at home you can select the best piece of meat, so the quality is almost always better.
And it allows you to get creative. I love curry beef burgers!
I also love making my own pizzas and empanadas. I am very picky with the quality of those.

That sounds exactly like something one of those people that's naturally good at that thing and isn't intimidated by it would say.
I am not one of those people.
(I only eat burgers when someone else makes them. And most everything that I cook comes from a can, a box, or goes into the microwave...)
