Here is my suggestion for kicking off this attack (at least from Zoren's capability)

1. Cast Displacement (self),
2. Cast Bull Strength (self),
3. Cast Bear's Endurance (Ilithial),
4. Cast Invisibility (Self),
5. Cast Dimension Door behind tent bringing 3 of you with me,
6. Enter tent and cast Black Tentacles near the entrance to prevent anyone from escaping.
After that we will have to see what happens.

Let me know what you all think of that as a start.

Before we go, I'll offer a lemon of delay poison to whoever feels that they need it the most.

I'll have invisibility active and I'll flip in the See Invisibility lens on my goggles. After all, they are drow.

Ilithial will also start greater invisibility wth Overland Flight, Mage Armor, protection from evil , Mirror Image, Shield, and Greater False Life. He will cast a communal Resist energy on everyone as well. Fire?

He can have a Teleport prepared if needed and will likely open with a fireball or Fire snake. depending on layout. He can drop hastes just before we go in.

Fire is always a good choice against general spellcasters. Plus it means that if you have to catch one of us in a fireball, we'll be much less affected.

I'll hand the lemon of delay poison to Shimmer. That way she can bring it to somebody in need.

I suspect Ahmose is going to barkskin. If we don't have any more questions, I think we're good to go.

Fire it is. Resist Energy Fire for 20 points on everyone.

Ilithial would rather ride than teleport if possible. That way he can act the round he arrives. And that would save his teleport for the trip out if needed. BUT he can teleport us in if that is needed.

We're dealing with a whole invasion party ready to wipe out the crusaders. A couple of tribes of orc, a tribe of hobgoblins, some drow and a few giants. Well within our capabilities.

It's a bit late for advice, but all your eggs in one energy type basket will generally have bad results.

Well, I talked with Merc about it beforehand and he did mentioned there was one fire immune creature we would face (I believe it was the enhanced pudding we found). I think he may have forgotten about these guys. Also, I would use smoke as some battlefield control to at least do something, but from the looks of these things... that's going to do nothing but hamper you all.

Fire is the most resisted energy type in the game, even if things aren't immune. Now I've been caught having an all-in archer so wind wall or solid fog shuts me down, but those two things are not all that commonly encountered.

Heck, wind wall or solid fog would drastically dampen my damage, but I could still engage in melee with some effect.

Fire Resistance is not an issue for Pyrokineticists. Burning Infusion and Searing Flame take care of that. Plus the high damage of the blast helps get around the remaining resistance. So over time, I can literally burn away all fire resistance.

Also, I literally spoke with the GM about this very issue and determined it was worth the risk based on his response. I specifically asked if there would be a large number of Fire Immune creatures and he stated the following: "Well not a crap tonne of fire immune creatures no. Might be a few here and there". Unfortunately, there just seems to be two fights back-to-back that contain Fire Immune creatures. I wanted to take this opportunity to see what a mid-high level pyrokineticist could do and so far I've been happy.

Yep. Ilithial uses fire as a primary choice but can armixture to Amy energy type.

If you're going all fire, Draining infusion lets you attack most fire-immune creatures. Devils are one of the few fire-immune creatures that don't have the subtype.

It's not the best attack, but it's better than sitting on your hands. Plus, once you do it you can empower for free, and that makes up for it a bit.

For that all you needed to do was beat the earth elemental. It would have died and reformed 24 hours later but you would have been able to bring your buddies.

It was an elder earth elemental but you could have taken it down.

Also yes Merius I didn't know these guys were fire immune until I looked it up at the start of the fight.

With the foresight of knowing about the fire immune, draining infusion definitely would have been a good choice...

Wouldn't be a bad idea. Right now your each in your own little dungeon but once you pass those you will be entering the same area.

Yeah, though just looking through the cleric spell list and I can't see anything I can use. Also regret not preping to deal with ability damage harder since we nkew to expect it, ah well you lose some you lose some. Just luckly I can spend the next day in game preparing lesser restoration.

Also hats off to the DM, he's done a good job with the atmoshpere in our game. Can't be easy to be running two games at the same time.


I'm also running worldwound (curently in part 3), Iron gods (curently in part 2), crimson throne (part 3) and another homebrew as well :)

unfortunately due to time constraints I had two other games I had to shut down cause people lost interest.
