2nd level spells

Advice

So my arcanist will hit the unreachable height of level 4 (despite the party being a bit fatalist about hitting 5). I am debating on what spells I should take. What advice can you guys give me?

Do you have any spell focus feats or do you have the very nice school savant archetype?

People may recommend very good spells like mirror image or invisibility. For you only take 1 spell like this and almost never prepare it. You have just 1 2nd level spell prepared so you will want something that can offer a bit of bang.

Create Pit is very good, can potentially trap and damage multiple creatures and can be placed to restrict battle field movement for the bad guys.

Burst of radiance. Blinds in a 10 foot burst for d4 rounds and does d4 a level with no save against evil. Awesome.

Glidderdust has more reliable rounds of blindness but they do get a save every round.

Can get a use out of summons at this level.

I would not recommend taking blast spells, if you want to do that use your 1st level spells.

no spell feats (Breadth of xp & deific obedience) . yes blast spells are underwhelming to me this level

Create pit, glitterdust, mirror image, web, hideous laughter, flame sphere, invisibility, false life, alter self, rope trick.

If you are going to be outdoors at all, consider Stone Call. It affects a large area, deals modest damage (bludgeoning, no save or SR), and produces difficult terrain to mess up enemy movement such as charges.

Invisibility, Glitterdust, Create Pit, Alter Self, Mirror Image, Mount Communal, Levitate, Acid Arrow(force concentration checks), Pilfering Hand, Protection from Evil Communal, and Stone Call

Resist energy, Scorching Ray, Knock, Make Whole, Rope Trick, See Invisibility, and Share Language are things you are going to want to pick up sometime although probably not lv4

Pyrotechnics.

Silver Crusade

Shackle.

And as Dastis says, See Invisibility will not be your first choice but your Arcanist needs it in his book for later. It's in the dull but worthy school along with Dimensional Anchor, unloved but vital. It's an ideal Arcanist spell actually, one of those you need when you need it, but too dull as a Sorcerer spell.

If anyone cares enough to read my thread necromancy

I decided to take the following

Glitterdust, Masterwork Transformation

We have found a spell book that has the following spells:

locate object, minor image, see invisibility, spider climb

Planning on taking Cat's grace and Warding Weapon (we recently picked up a Whirling Dervish Swashbuckler as are melee type so figure Cat's grace is an amazing buff, giving her +2 AC, +2 AB, +2 damage, for her)
