Is it tacky to favorite your own posts?

Just something I've been wondering. I've had a moral battle for weeks now, should I or shouldn't I? On one hand, it may be too tacky, but on the other, I may seem like a better person.

I must meditate on this, and see what the community thinks.

Edit: I've doth favorit'd this post. Iomadae forgive me!

If you start worrying about being tacky, you'll never get anything done.

F+#% what the community thinks. If it makes you happy, then do it. Besides, sometimes drunk poster posts something sober poster later sees and laughs his ass off at. Not that I've had any experience with that....

It's like high-fiving yourself in public.

One of my bits I do to cheer up my kids is try to give myself a high five, but miss spectacularly. :-)

I have favorite my own posts in the past....I did it so I could find any replies to that post quickly.

Ah but giving yourself is high-five is just clapping.

I did it by quoting someone else, so I could favorite what was said twice.

Favoriting your own posts is only allowable for Tacticslion, since they favorite every post.

So, you're saying Tacticslion is more then one person, like a hive mind?

Is that how the Borg started... Or is it more of a Skynet situation...

It's a typo.

Also, it is sort of narcissistic and kind of dumb. Tactilson is the exception.

I hear that's illegal in most states...

Does Tacticslion favorite his own posts...

I'm not sure if it's tacky, personally, I've done it before, mostly because it's easier to get to on my phone that way.

Now, if all you do is crack jokes then favorite them, that would probably be tacky.

I don't know that I've seen Tac fave one of his own posts; of course, I'm not everywhere like he is, so there's plenty I might have missed. Nevertheless, I've faved a couple of my own posts before, whether it was tacky or not. It probably was tacky of me to do that, but I'm totally not embarrassed by it.

There's a special level of The Nine Hells for people who favorite their own posts and talk at the movie theater.

Honestly, I really think it depends on the circumstances. People that favorite their own posts when they're trying to prove a ridiculous rules point based on weird cornerstone that they probably misunderstood... then yes, its tacky. Otherwise, I couldn't care less either way!

Ah but giving yourself is high-five is just clapping.

Only if you're doing it to congratulate someone.

I don't do it, but that's hardly any sort of metric for how to live your life.

Well you would be congratulating yourself.

I say go ahead and do it...don't worry what others think about you.

Hah! I always find it kind of amazing when people talk about me, and very funny!

For the record, I have, actually, favorited my own posts - my purpose in doing so has almost always been to find it easier later. That... doesn't always work now. But it does for about a day or two! I don't do so often. I have recently been tempted to favorite a post of mine because of a scifi take on Lovecraft that no one else has favorited yet, though I've avoided doing so at present.

My take? Yeah, it's probably ostensibly tacky. That doesn't mean you shouldn't - it just means that some people wouldn't like it. But if it really makes you happy (and, as someone else indicated, it wasn't you laying into someone or being unpleasant) than it's basically harmless and just shows people that you like your post.

But that's just, like, my opinion, man. You do you.

As for being tacky, I mean, it's not like you're building a career off of taking other peoples' music and putting it to the accordion.

Wait, he's actually the coolest. Um. Bad example?

(Just don't be obnoxious and I'm pretty sure few will notice or care.) ;D

Well, it's important to note that I'm not exactly Iomedae...

So you *don't* torture people for not being your fawning, docile adorers?

I've considered favoriting one of my own posts, if only to get it to a nice round number of favorites. ^_^

How can you favorite just one of your own posts? It's like having a favorite child, I mean they are all so wonderful, so I love them all equally. :-)

I don't favorite my own posts, mostly because I'm afraid it would be a distraction when I constantly click on "Favorited by Others."
