And I'm back!
Both back home, and back online.
(My PC had gotten the Keyboard drivers garbaged by an update, and nothing I could try to do would fix it. Or if it WOULD have fixed it, Windows wouldn't let me do it!) ;P
So, one fresh-complete-wipe-and-reinstall-later,... FINALLY back! :)
Hope everyone is doing well,
AND back to work now,... both real job, and finish loading stuff back onto the PC.
:P
THIS IS IMPORTANT. Once you get a stable system, immediately set up a restore point, so you can roll everything back to the beginning if you need to.

Freehold, be sure to let the better half know!
I did, unfortunately we will have to split up for this one - my best friend is having a housewarming the same day. I originally thought it was Friday but its Saturday. But I just went to a con with him and I haven't seen Patrick in a while and David in a long while a John since you were married! So she is going there and I am going to get wriggity wriggity WRECKED SON with you guys.

Well, made it through my bus trip today. Nothing like taking a 40' yellow monster stuffed with elementary school kids through Boston and back.
To paraphrase Obi Wan, 'The Thomas 'Tip' O'Neill tunnel. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and Mas$holery.'
Now for the more sedate guardian of the fish role.

Yep.
Done. And going to do it again, soon as I get all of my files reloaded back on.
Heh, This aint the first time I've had to do a stupid-reboot-fix of a PC. ;P

I'm glad you got things straightened out, but the priesthood mystique with respect to computers(and math) has caused me a lot of problems during my developmental years. I believe my life today would be different if most people in those fields at that time in my life lacked that attitude.

Lol, Yeah, My friend (mentioned above, from college) still bugs me almost every time we get to see each other or Skype together about not choosing to follow him into programming, etc.
My life would most assuredly be different if I had, that's for sure.
I'd have MONEY, for one thing,... :/

Priesthood nothing. I'm more or less self-taught. If there's anything you want to know, FH, PM me and I'll give you a layperson's explanation.

Back from dentist.
Numb upper left of my jaw and lips, awful aftertaste on the left side of mouth. A bit of stinging and a temporary filling that might or might not irritate my gums some more.
Next visit, next Monday. I need to take a day off, because the only available hours were in the morning. Or I could wait until late August...
| John Napier 698 |
My condolences. That Novocaine is the most foul tasting substance that it's been my misfortune to experience. I was nauseated for a week after all four of my wisdom teeth were removed.
EDIT: Don't wait. Temporary fillings are still temporary. If that one falls out, you're right back where you started.
| Drejk |
I tasted worse thing than that, though I feel as if I licked hospital walls.
The whole experience was mildly unpleasant, a few needles of mild pain, one or two stabs of stronger pain. My issue with the dentist visit is boring staring above a eye-dazzling lamp, and the dryness in my throat caused by keeping my mouths open. Various droplets and dust falling on my tongue triggers spasm of swallowing reaction.

So, I've got this wild hair to run a 1st edition-feeling game using PF rules. It'd be called "Regular Joes" and PC's would be starting with 1st level commoners down on their luck. Your abilities would be either 18, 13, 12, 11, 10, 9 or one 18 and roll 4d6 drop the lowest for the rest. No traits. No secret nobles, no convoluted backstories, no world-spanning geography - you're just dropped into this world and looking to scrape together a living.
There's more to it than that in a very loosey-goosey 1st edition way, but that's all you know to start. Remember that sense of "what's going on" wonder in early games? I'm looking to recapture that. You'll have to trust me.
Would anybody be interested?
EDIT: Oh, I can probably handle up to 6 players. This should be easy to both play and run at the beginning.
EDIT 2: If you can't deal with seemingly arbitrary and unfair things happening, you won't want to be in this game. I mean, really, that's all 1st edition IS, particularly if you use some of the crazier supplements.
EDIT 3: And don't expect standard monsters or magic items or loot or WBL or being able to buy anything you want. I won't say it's low-magic, but it certainly is in the everyday world. I plan to tailor monsters and magic to you guys.
Giving ma peeps first dibs on this little gem.

I dunno. You run modules, you're in Golarion, you know the world and what's happening. In 1E/AD&D games, we ran strictly homebrew and in our own world. And starting as peasantry, we had no clue about the bigger world or what monsters should and shouldn't do.
So, yeah. Your feet won't be on terra firma for this one. You won't face a monster and think "I know this guy- AC 16, 24 hp, no problem." OTOH, you'll be a lot more likely to receive magic tailored to your character.
John, yeah, I figure your eventual classes will be determined by your 18. I haven't decided on the direction to take - gestalt or mythic - but we'll see how the first few levels go and what we need to proceed.
So, this is promising. One or two more people express interest in the next 24 hours, I'll start a thread.

Does anyone use Fantasy Grounds?
I was thinking of getting it, but unless I hear good reviews, I can't justify paying $150 bucks for something I may only use once a week.
Also, if anyone knows, how does it compare to Roll 20, which I've used, and is free.
I have a friend that is a GM that thinks it is terrific.
That said I would say free is better that $150.

Guess I should start a thread.
Feel free to jump in with builds, questions, ideas, idle chit-chat, whatever.
I will be out of pocket for a few hours - maybe 12 or so.

Thanks for the info. There is a free demo for it I might look at. supposedly you can do a ton of stuff on the demo, but you can't save any of it, or actually play a game, unless your GM (which would be me) dishes out the 150 bucks for the full version, or 10 bucks a month, which will continue to be paid till you buy the 150 licence.

Good luck with this new thread Treppa!
I'll likely drop in to watch the entertainment unfold, but I'm pretty full up on participating threads as it is. Thanks though! :)

Novocaine's taste doesn't bother me at all. I've had 3 root canals and they weren't as bad as people make them out to be, at least in my personal experience. And when they took out my wisdom teeth they put me completely under, so I didn't have to experience that.
Yeah,
When I was 21, I got all 4 wisdom teeth removed. They promised me I would be out and wouldn't remember a thing.1 Shot, 2 pills, and 45 minutes of giggle gas later, i was immobile. And very drowsy. And awake for the entire bleeding procedure!
Turns out my father and I share a resistance to certain drugs. Who knew?!?

Oh yeah, and they gave me the Novocaine too. I distinctly remember the shot going into my gums. :(
I didn't feel PAIN during the process, but distinctly remember feeling and hearing each tooth break (and the Dentist cussing as he broke the third one) and the pressure in my mouth as he did the work. :)
When I sat up afterwords the nurse was amazed, she told my mother that I shouldn't be awake, much less sitting up or walking. But I was fine.
UNTIL We got to the front door, and the cold air from outside (January) hit me in the face. My legs turned into noodles. My mother and grandma caught me and carried me to the back seat of the car. And that is all I remember until 24 hours later. ;P
Sore jaws, yes, I remember that too. :/
I was fortunate, I was having them removed due to over crowding and a cavity, not impacted thank goodness!
