Geygar fell in with an unruly crowd as a young elf. And he discovered that he liked it. Geygar doesn't have the usual elvish proclivity to think that he's better than the other races. He KNOWS he is better than everyone else. Just ask him. He'll tell you.
The details of his youthful misadventures are sketchy at best, (primarily because no one else that shared them seems to be around to tell about them) but the ones that Geygar does talk about seem to get grander at each re-telling. At this point the famous story about him stealing the enchanted girdle from the altar of the main church of Calistra has him doing the job solo. When all the experts agree that such a feat would take a talented crew of at least 4 persons. (The last telling has it that the girdle was actually gifted to him after Yates demonstrated to the high priestess a few tricks that she didn't know yet.) ;)
Geygar got the nickname 'Ash' due to his ashen-colored blond hair. And his tendency to burn those who cross him. Literally.
He tends to talk in a drawl with one lip drawn back in a cross between a snarl and a smirk.
Geygar tends to dress comfortably, so that he can be ready for 'work' when an opportunity presents itself. But he likes to dress nicely as well, and likes to collect magical clothing and knick-knacks to help him do his job better.
Geygar isn't really a bad fellow, but he isn't a good one either. He really is the best (at least one of the best) in the country he was currently captured in at what he does. He doesn't ever PLAN to betray his fellow partners on a job, but he's so darn selfish that sometimes it just sort of happens. Although he has no problem with throwing a partner under the carriage if they deserve it, (or he's about to get caught), but he usually feels REALLY bad afterwords, and has at least one extra drink in their honor.
