Wayfinder #16 issue is out. Numeria awaits!

David M Mallon wrote:

The 1st-person controls are decent, but the third-person controls are completely borked, and unfortunately, you can only use your lightsaber in third-person view. I don't get why they can't just let you switch between the two views.

I usually (IE=ALWAYS) do better in 3rd person view in those kind of games. Better view to see whats around me I guess? (I stink at Halo) ;P

Actually, I stink at ALL of those games, but they are still fun and I still like playing them. I just don't ever expect to actually finish them anymore. ;P

My experience playing video games is about as narrow as it gets, but I'd say that non-turn-based combat doesn't get much better than the way it's done in Mass Effect 3.

In other news, here's the first official release from the new band. The full album should be coming out within a month or two.

Looove the band name. Some day you have to put out an album called Queen of the Demonweb Pits....

Nah, that sounds a little too death metal for us.

Me too. That's why I got the Fitbit. Now, instead of just feeling like I didn't sleep at all, I can look at a little screen and confirm it. Very useful.

You can get prescription sleeping pills to help regulate your sleep pattern?

I rarely sleep badly. It was more being called by people during the day while I was trying to sleep. It's all good I'll sleep well tonight.

I'll sleep well tonight.

The Bronchitis cough med will make sure of that! ;P

I have just finished Soldiers Live... The ending. It's big though I had some suspicions that it might end like that. Still, there were details that surprised me.

Big Soldiers Live Ending Spoiler:
I haven't expect that Immortal Croaker could provide magic power to Lady.

Lots and lots of great twists there, especially in the later half of the book.

So, after fighting my 'cold' for over a week. (Dang persistent cold IMHO)

Tried to call my doctor, my doctor changed his office hours, he is now closed on Fridays. :(

Went to clinic, Seems my cold graduated to Bronchitis. :/

So, started antibiotic and one cortisone shot later, NOW I feel like I can arm-wrestle Goliath! :D

I've been laid out a few days with a cold flu hybrid. I think tomorrow I'll finally be better :-)

Are you sure they weren't space monkeys? Terrifying space monkeys who wreck your engine room and cause the captain to get cross at the sexy engineer?

As long as there are undeads in the region of space in question, they can be space monkey, sure. It only takes one reckless landing in skull monkey-infested ancient ruins to get them on your ship.

Yeah scorpion bowls helped me out last night.

Hangover free! Body chemistry is so weird. I spent my mid thirties almost allergic to alcohol, and now I can down quantities with small effect

Now the tough decision looms: Do I
Pull the trigger on GenCon? Or is PaizoCon enough con?

Cool! I figured these would get the Patrick stamp of approval.

One minor point: I've seen "undeads" only referred to as "undead" or "undead creatures".

I'd say PaizoCon is enough. I say that knowing I go to both, but I only go to GenCon because it's a father-child trip.

*checks*

While not stated explicitly, it seems that undead works as singular and plural...

Do the zombie monkeys eat frozen monkey brains as a treat?

I'm pretty sure the only ones who like those are awkward racial stereotypes in George Lucas movies.

The creature type section of the Bestiary shows undead as plural. I guess that's about as definitive as one can get.

Huh. I've never ever seen awkward racial stereotypes in Lucas films.

ETA: What prequels?

Where are these cons again?

I have never seen that particular scene as racist, more like commentary about Willie stomach and sensibilities, and the wealth and eccentricity of the court they visit.

Also:
Showing that there are differences between what is considered a delicacy and what is gross between cultures is not racist. I heard that British for some weird reason don't consider horse a proper source of meat, to the point where it was a big scandal that there could be a horse meat in burgers in UK a few years ago.

Many cultures with highly stratified societies and accumulated wealth reached a point in their existence where it became fashionable to eat things that would be considered weird by everyone else, including poorer members of the same society.

Also, I have never thought of Indiana Jones as "Lucas movies", only as "Spielberg movies"... :P

The horse thing is the same here in America.

No need to get upset, it was just a joke. I actually like that movie.

Spielberg did direct them, but George Lucas was in charge of the story and characters. Other than his central role as director and screenwriter for the original 1977 Star Wars, he usually served more as an "idea man" and executive producer for subsequent blockbusters, up until the release of the prequel trilogy. They were all Lucas' stories, other people just figured out how to make them work as films.

Star Wars (AKA Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope) (1977)
Director: George Lucas
Screenwriter: George Lucas
Producer: Gary Kurtz
Story: George Lucas

Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
Director: Irvin Kershner
Screenwriter: Leigh Brackett, Lawrence Kasdan
Producer: Gary Kurtz
Story: George Lucas

Raiders Of The Lost Ark (1981)
Director: Steven Spielberg
Screenwriter: Lawrence Kasdan
Producer: Frank Marshall
Story: George Lucas, Philip Kaufman

Star Wars Episode VI: Return Of The Jedi (1983)
Director: Richard Marquand
Screenwriter: Lawrence Kasdan, George Lucas
Producer: Howard Kazanjian
Story: George Lucas

Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom (1984)
Director: Steven Spielberg
Screenwriter: Willard Huyck, Gloria Katz
Producer: Robert Watts
Story: George Lucas

Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade (1989)
Director: Steven Spielberg
Screenwriter: Jeffrey Boam
Producer: Robert Watts
Story: George Lucas, Menno Meyjes

Yes, the Crystal Skull is better. It has Marion. That alone makes it superior to Temple Of Doom.
