LOL
My 17 year old daughter is a Hufflepuff and proud of it. :)

She faced off a 'Slytherin' employee at the park while getting on a ride when we were there. It was hysterical. Both the park employee and my daughter were into their characters. I laughed so hard.

Way back when my daughter was 5 or 6 she heard me talking to her mom about how I was planning to attend the midnight release party for the latest book that night. All she heard was me say 'party' and 'costume'.

When I see her next, she is decked out in one of her princess dresses, with her tinkerbell wings on and carrying a princess wand. She informed me that she was ready to go. So we did. :)

Cutest thing I've seen at a release party?
A baby dressed up as a screaming mandrake root, with his stroller decked out as a plant pot.

Funniest thing I've seen at a release party?
Darth Vader showed up (in the good, full costume) carrying a sign that read "The Real Dark Lord"
I saw a group of robe-wearing/wand wielding kids huddled behind a book shelf, whispering about how they were going to ambush Vader when he rounded the corner,...

;)

Now, that screams EPIC, but ultimately tragic. We all know Vader's record with children. Vader 1, Hogwarts 0. :(

Stoopid-rassin-frassin-nickle-frickle-nutter-butter-peanut-butter-sandwich- cookie-ding-dang-timey-wimey-wibbley-wobbley HEAD COLD!

2 days. TWO STINKING DAYS of actual 'winter' weather, which I was more than adequately prepared for clothing and health-wise, and a head cold somehow penetrated both my vitamins and Zinc defense, as well as my trenchcoat and long Dr Who-esque scarf!

JUST in time for the start of rehearsals for Sweeney Todd! :P

My throat hurts SO much right now. Head cold part isn't even that bad, I got by all day yesterday without taking medicine for it. But my THROAT is killing me! :(

Ah well, enough whining. Back to work! ;P

Hope everyone else is having a happy Hump day! (University classes start today, so everyone at work here is as insane as I usually am!) ;P

Feel better!

Right, hump day. I'll remind the wife later :-)

I like Harry Potter though I would not say I am a huge fan I did play hooky from work to read the 7th book when it came out. I was not a huge fan of that job anyhow...

NICE.

For my daughters third birthday party we got Vade to come. The pic of her holding that Red Lightsaber next to Vader is probably one of the best pictures I'll ever take for the rest of my life. :-)

I like it well enough. Read (and own) all the books. Saw all the movies (except that new one). The wife and I even participated in some of the midnight releases for the books back in the day, mostly because we didn't have kids to worry about, and thought it was fun.

I guess it depends on your definition of fan. I always equate it with its longer form, fanatic. Do I like the Harry Potter series? Yes, they are excellent books, and I highly recommend them. I've even seen all the movies and would say the same about (most) of them.

But...

Would I go to a Potter-themed convention ? Probably not. Buy Potter-themed knick knacks? It doesn't really interest me. Be excited for the Harry Potter adventure in FLA? Naw...

I consider myself a fanatic on Star Wars, Pathfinder, D&D, Game of Thrones, Walking Dead, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings. I would further call myself a fanatic on certain things that do not have a 'fan base' like the Black Company, The TL 191 series by Harry Turtledove , the Emberverse novels by SM Stirling, or A Canticle for Liebowitz.

I enjoy some franchises, but I don't have that level of excitement. Harry Potter, Dr Who, the Chronicles of Narnia spring to mind. All things I enjoy, yes. Just not 'fanatic' about them.

I've heard about people buying all sorts of things when they're drunk. Me? I ordered two pounds of Maine sea scallops.

I commissioned even even kinkier porn than normal when I was drunk on Amaretto Sours.

On a whim, I went to the used game bargain bin and made my second-ever non-RPG video game purchase: Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy (total cost: five dollars).

It's OK, I guess (main character voiced by Jennifer Hale, and the fact that "Star Wars" is nearly always better than "not Star Wars"), but your character controls like they're drunk and running around with a lightsaber on an ice rink.

2 missions in... time to go all Anakin Skywalker on some Tusken Raiders.

I have that game on my original Xbox.

Your control descriptions are spot on.

I failed the first mission (getting into the game) at least 3 times because I kept lightsabre slicing up the person I was supposed to be escorting. ;P

Yeah,...

My work makes me have that same reaction a lot too. :)

Argh,...

So, after fighting my 'cold' for over a week. (Dang persistent cold IMHO)

Tried to call my doctor, my doctor changed his office hours, he is now closed on Fridays. :(

Went to clinic, Seems my cold graduated to Bronchitis. :/

So, started antibiotic and one cortisone shot later, NOW I feel like I can arm-wrestle Goliath! :D

The 1st-person controls are decent, but the third-person controls are completely borked, and unfortunately, you can only use your lightsaber in third-person view. I don't get why they can't just let you switch between the two views.
