That puts a bit more pressure on my work on this guy
I turned my character around quite a bit and instead of a Human Archer I'm looking at a Halfling Slinger who makes use of the Eldritch Archer Magus. He can be found here.
My character would have no personal connection with any of the Victocoro family. He knows of them but he doesn't know them.
The fire didn't only kill the family but also the family's staff, which included my character's mother and sister. They were the family's cook and cook-in-training respectively and both lived at the manor.
My character had moved out roughly a year ago to live with his father, who was fired from his job at the manor and separated from my character's mother due to a drinking problem (dad is a freed slave, still has traumas). He moved in with his father in an attempt to get him clean and succeeded. Now with his mother and sister dead his dad has turned back to drinking.

Hi Crusty - just to let you know I've finished Isabel's background and other fluff. It is all now present on her profile page. Please let me know if there is anything you would like me to change before the deadline.
Her 'reason for being in Aria park' trait will wait if you don't mind since if she is selected, the others chosen will have an impact on her reason for being there (particularly if Sunset is chosen).

Gobo Horde |

Ah-ha! I knew it was something like that. 3 houses burnt down, including the Victocoro estate (Night of Ashes) and then Barzillai took over the opera house (which used to belong to the Victocoros) as his private estate. Also, ex-Lord-Mayor Jilia Bainilus has fled/been captured/missing and now Barzillai has taken over as the new Lord-Mayor. Got it.
So. Revised edition.
Brian Longarm the guard (that just became his name) is one of the guards of the Kintargo Dottari, however he is near the bottom of the command chain. While he was not present during any of the more significant events that happened as of late (such as the Night of Ashes or the appointing of Barzillai as Lord-Mayor) he has heard of the rumors and felt the ripple effects. Whats more, Brian had held both the previous Lord-Mayor and the Captain of the Guard in high esteem. Hearing that they had both either disappeared or have been replaced has left him feeling dissatisfied and filled with suspicion.
Even now Brian feels more and more like an accomplice with both Barzillai and the House of Thrune as he fulfills his duties as Dottari guard. First was the Martial Law where he had to force people into their homes, make arrests and the excessive patrols. Then came the ridiculous rules that followed and that he had been forced to proclaim and enact. Why just recently him and his squad had to shut down a stall in the Bleakbridge marketplace and arrest its owner for selling mint tea! It was ridiculous, and the exorbitant fine even more so!
Still, Martial law and enforcing nonsensical laws was one thing, bad but tolerable. It was another matter altogether when his superiors encouraged the guard to be more forceful and aggressive in their duties, and the almost brutal actions of his fellow guardsmen seemed to take to with glee and enthusiasm. Brian was horrified at the brutality that he was seeing his squadmates perform. This was not what he signed up for! He had joined the Dottari to protect the people, not to brutally oppose them D:
Another event. Brian had heard at the guardhouse in the Castle District about a protest that was supposed to happen tomorrow, and luckily for him, he had the next 3 days off. Also coinciding with the event was that he had received a tip about a suspicious person who would be attending the protest and had connections with one of the rebel factions, the Silver Ravens. He had little information to go on, namely that he was a male human who would be wearing one black leather glove on his right hand and none on the other. However, he had decided in his mind that he would not tell his superiors about this tip and instead to seek out this individual. Maybe he could get some answers that he was searching for, or maybe he could figure out a better solution then just forcing the populace down. Either way, he has resolved to attend the protest tomorrow.
However he would not be able to go as a guardsman (He was off duty, besides a uniform would likely scare off his informant!) and instead he heads off to it in his civilian clothes. (However, he feels that he cannot part ways with his shield and javelin, which he would wear strapped to his back).
(Reason to Protest: Meeting a Contact)
1: I am not on guard duty during the Night of Ashes. I was probably somewhere off on guard duty elsewhere or even back at home.
2: As for being at the protest, I have it so that I am off duty for the next 3 days. Therefore I am coming to the protest as a civilian and can then act normally from then on. Note, I currently have it so that I have my shield and shortspear strapped to my back. Is this ok or should I also leave these at home? (they would be rather distinct and I dont know what you think of bringing weapons). If not then maybe just a longsword strapped to his waist?
Also I have a good 2 days after the protest of "free time" before I have to desert my post, that gives me a small bit of time for however that goes down :)
3: So most likely (almost certainly) I will be quitting the Dottari after the protest or whatever. I do have a small window of time for how it happens but it will happen.
4: I like the idea of "faking" me being a member of the Dottari for small bursts of time as I preform whatever mission :) I could also do good intel gathering that way! (however, still quitting). I think that impersonating a guard might become one of his favorite tactics :)
5: no paperwork? Sounds good. One thing I have on my mind for him is that he has some bits of paperwork, such as a map of the city, his own patrol routes, a list of the proclamations and such legal papers as those. Partly why I want the linguistics skill as well :)
Bonus question. Who is the previous leader of the Dottari?
Kintargo Dottari: Led by Duxotas Vannases Trex (herself a recent appointee by the government), Kintargo’s city guards are growing more and more aggressive in their attempts to “keep the peace."
I have been borrowing a lot from this small sentence so knowing just a little bit more would be nice :)
Well that should give me enough to get cracking on getting him written up and finished :) This has been a rare build for me as I focused on his personality and backstory before his crunch, usually its the other way around!

DM Crustypeanut |

The Dottari use anything from a shield ahd heavy mace to halberds to longwords. Haven't seen them use spears, but thats fine if you use 'em. The weapon likely won't be noticable, but the shield would be. You could probably refurbish it to get rid of the symbol (of Cheliax/Thrune) on it.
Everything else sounds alright!
Just a heads up everyone: There is now less than 22 hours left to finish your character and get some roleplaying done in the gameplay thread.
I would have posted at 24 hours but I fell asleep after getting off work.

As the seventh child of a minor nobel family, and a girl at that, Selana's destiny was fixed from birth. She would learn the arts of etiquette, dance and fashion, she would visit the opera, she would be married to cement the alliance between her family and the Sarini and she would have children to continue their name. Where some would have felt stifled and restricted by such a well laid out life, Selana looked forward to it, growing up as the perfect young noble girl, learning her lessons well, and sharing whispered rumours with her friends about what to expect on her wedding day, when she would finally marry the boy she had been promised to from birth, her cousin, Dansten Sarini.
She was eight when she first met her future husband, and he had been only a year older. It had been awkward at first, and they had sat perched in her families' parlour without talking but nervously sipping their tea. He'd only really started talking when she had timidly asked him about his interests and he had begun talking about his fencing lessons. She still wasn't sure how it had happened, but somehow, before the end of the meeting , she had agreed to join him in his training. From the start Selana had excelled. Although she lacked strength, she was fast and agile, and she was soon Dansten's equal with the blade. Her friends did tease her about her new hobby, but Selana ignored them, loving not just the swordplay, but also the burgeoning friendship with her betrothed.
As the two grew older and towards adulthood, their training continued, and provided the rare opportunity for their flirting and their friendship to develop towards something more. They had stollen their first experimental kiss when the fencing master, Joralaine, had been tflirting with her chaperone, when she had been twelve, and had managed to steal several more over the years. When he was fifteen Dansten had begun his 'special' lessons, the ones that he didn't like to talk about... He had also started to change. Where he had once been jovial and funny, he became increasingly dour and quiet. He even stopped coming to the lessons as often, and when they did see each other, it was now only at public events. The last time she had seen him, across the seated crowd at the Opera, he had been staring at her, his sunken eyes fixed on her throughout the performance. She wasn't sure, but she thought that the words he had silently mouthed to her had been "I'm sorry."
It was two weeks later, on the day her sixteenth birthday, the day she had come of age, and their betrothal was to be confirmed, that his body had been found, Rumours had swirled about what had happened. Some people said he'd been murdered, his family had said it was a sudden illness, but Selana had found out from Master Joralaine that it had, in fact, been suicide.
In the following years Selana stopped being the perfect noble's daughter. She began to rebel. She no longer looked forward to life as a Married woman, and her behaviour, which had once made her family so proud, became increasingly rebellious. She began frequenting the darker parts of town, the alleyways and bars. She picked, and often won, fights with other nobles, she began to develop a certain reputation, often returning to the family estate in the early hours of the morning, drunk, or not at all.
Selana blames the Sarini and their devil-worship for Dansren's death and, by extension, blames the Thrunes, and when one of them was made the mayor of Kintargo, she began to rebel in truth.. careless of the consequences.
Eyes: Blue, Hair: Black, Skin: Pale, Height: 5’7”, Weight: 110 lbs, Age: 19
Other than her startlingly blue eyes, Selana's features are typical of the Chelish nobility of Kintargo. Her black hair is rumpled and untidy, like her well-made, tailored clothes which consist of fashionably tight black leggings and a white silk embroidered shirt beneath a corseted red lamellar cuirass. Selana generally comes across as extremely reckless, somewhat selfish, needlessly flirtatious, and more than a little arrogant. This attitude, however, hides an intense sorrow, and help Selena to avoid becoming too close to anyone, a strategy that she unconsciously believes will protect her from being losing another loved one.

Phew! He is done :)
And I am quite happy with him, he turned out well! ^-^
do note, I still have to select his last feat, spend 100 gold, and start dialoging in the gameplay thread.
As well, I diverged a little from your character sheet in regards to the Special Abilities and Skills sections as I find this easier to read. If its a problem, let me know and Ill adhere more closely to what you desire :)
Also, also. His backstory and personality are kinda merged :/

So, basically.. You've got your wedding to plan. Your wife to murder and Gilder to frame for it?
Indeed, I can completely see how you're swamped.

Best of luck to you!

Alrighty! After due consideration, looking into everyone's profiles snooping at their other campaigns and even going as far as to get a third neutral pardy to help me with a few decisions, the six I've picked to join the rebellion against Barzillai Thrune and save Kintaro are:
-Darian Aulamaxa, Human Arcane Duelist Bard
-Galen Mistbringer, Human Psychic
-Varian Tanessen, Human Hidden Priest Cleric of Milani
-Phineas Aceron, Human Negotiator Bard
-Isabel Rhelian, Half-Elf Slayer
-Avrora Vikta, Human Liberty's Blade Warpriest of Milani
As mentioned, this wasn't an easy choice - everyone who applied had excellent characters! As far as special mentions goes, I would like to invite every single one of you to stay and keep an eye on the thread and join in the discussion thread at any time should you wish to. If you do not want to have the thread visible (Due to spoiler reasons), please let me know.
And of course as special mentions, I would like to possibly include most of you as NPCs somewhere in the campaign, unless anyone specifically does not want me to.
So, for those chosen (and anyone else who wants to take a peek), please head over to the discussion thread! I'll have the Roll20 link up very shortly, and will be lurking there to chat with in real time.

DM Crustypeanut |

...I almost ended up going with 8, but my better judgement won that argument.
See, I had tried two campaigns previously with eight players - a far too ambitious homebrew campaign named Road to Damnation and a Shattered Star campaign, both taking place in Robert Brookes' alternate Golarion setting of Ruins of Pathfinder, a post-apocalyptic version of Golario where all the APs up until Reign of Winter ended with the bad guys winning.
Both campaign saw heavy drag-down due to the eight players, though I will admit part of it is my fault due to various real life issues and in the case of Road to Damnation, biting off more than I could chew with a campaign. First homebrew campaigns should not be mythic that span the planes in search of the Book of the Damned and the secrets of Tabris. XD
...still had fun times with both though.

Brian Longarm |

Wow. that was quick. Most people take a good day or two to go through everything. Your eyeballs must be peeling and your brain reeling after all that XD
Really sucks that I didnt get picked :( Ill be keeping an eye on this in case anyone drops, or if you need a disgruntled guard willing to help the rebellion and wish to use me as a guest NPC by all means! This character wont be going anywhere anytime soon :)

Congrats to every one.
*Hugz Isabel*
Don't worry, I'll get teacher home safe. ;)
You're still coming over! We'll drink good wine and make plans - sneaky plans involving disguises and portraits of Paracount Thrune and some naked, male goblins!
Thanks for inviting me Crusty - looks like this is going to be great fun. (and my worst fears came true... Isabel is the only full BAB character... *facepalm* I knew slayer was a better choice than rogue!)

![]() |

Crusty has had to bow out due to real life issues, if you'd be willing to GM I suspect we'd all be delighted to carry on playing! To be strictly accurate Crusty has simply vanished and we've not heard for well over a month - we don't know exactly what's happened but the game is certainly in the Doldrums.
I have the whole AP in pdf so I can pass the last three on to you if we get that far! :)
