Recruitment

51 to 83 of 83 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | next > last >>
Grand Lodge

Deific obedience is pretty beasty from the looks of it, but unless I plan on going evangelist(which I'm not) Erastils boons are kind lackluster so it wouldn't intrest me...though there is some craaaazy things you could get

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

That's kind of how I feel about deific obedience in general- most of the gods have some really cool stuff available if you happen to have the right concept/build. It wouldn't be surprised if a number of players in this game want to take it, but I don't think many will feel like they need to at all.

I will be going with some sort of arcane caster, either wizard or arcanist I think.

After reading your suggestions Nate, the deific obedience immediately came to mind. I've reread it and I think I'm going to end up going with the Evangelist PrC. Now I just need to figure out specifics.

I'm interested, and will probably do some sort of nature-themed character that follows Gozreh. Is there a deadline for characters yet?

Thanks!

I'm thinking a monk who worhips Gozreh with both the Flowing Monk and Monk of the Iron Mountain archetypes, representing his association with water and his tie to Golarion's soil. Adding in the Plant domain, it should be a fun, flavorful build. Now I have to come up with some equally-juicy backstory. :)

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

I'm going to keep the official recruitment window the same: from next Monday (my last day of grad school this semester) until 12/23. I'll still announce the party on the 26th too. With all the chaos around the holidays I think instead of planning on the first gameplay post on the 28th, I'll make the 28th the deadline for everyone selected to check in on the discussion thread (and let me know if/when they'll be ready to start posting regularly).

Looking forward to it!

I believe I've mostly settled on a concept; thinking a Slayer (Deliverer archetype) of Erastil.

Second the looking forward to recruitment time. I've hammered out most of the stuff I need for my Paladin (Chosen One) of Shelyn and his familiar, though I do have a question regarding the familiar a Chosen One gets.

At 7th level my character effectively gets Improved Familiar through a class feature where I unlock my familiar's "true form" choosing from any LG, NG, or LN outsider improved familiar option appropriate to the deity; with it getting the ability to change shape between the original form and its true form.

I decided ahead of time that my familiar's true form will be that of a cassisian angel. Now I'm wondering, since it isn't stated that the alignment of the familiar's disguised form is any different from the base animal it took the form of, can my familiar start out NG?

It makes sense that it would be, based on the fluff of the archetype, but there's no rules text that states its initial alignment has to be the same as its true form's alignment so mechanically it doesn't really back up the fluff.

Dotting for interest! I think I might submit a bard of Shelyn.

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

@henshinfan- your question is a little off... the chosen one's true form familiar has to have the same alignment as your god, so I think you'd be looking at the sylvanshee for Shelyn. Regarding an alignment change, I actually prefer the idea of it starting off with its real/final alignment even though the ability doesn't specify that.

Looking forward to the recruitment thread getting started. IN the meantime, good luck in the rest of the semester Nate, I don't miss grad school at all! :-)

I thought of a silvanshee at first too, but the image of a cat-like celestial taking the form of a bird (starting with a thrush since it's one of the few familiars that can actually communicate with the master at first level and so can actually play the mentor role right from the start, is a songbird which happen to be Shelyn's sacred animal, and the +3 to diplomacy doesn't hurt) was a little odd to me so I went with the cassisian angel angle as they're also NG. I even looked up the name of a minor angel to use as my familiar's name. As for the alignment aspect, cool. That's what I thought as well.

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

Huh, so they are... The improved familiar chart has them listed as LG, that was what threw me off. Sorry.

No problem. Cross-referencing the d20pfsrd and Archives of Nethys lists I found both sites had several errors or omissions in their list, but looking at the actual information on the creatures would usually give the correct info. Except for zoogs on d20pfsrd which lists them as CN while having the same decidedly CE descriptions as the archives.

As the person who runs the Archives, I'd love it if any errors you find could be emailed to me (if you have the chance). Thanks! :)

Done. Thank you for putting all the effort you do into maintaining such an indispensable resource as the Archives.

Man, now i'm getting antsy for this recruitment to start...

Pathfinder Lost Omens, Rulebook Subscriber

Yeah, only three more nights to go before the recruitment starts. Been a while since I did a PBP, but that rush of excitement beforehand is all too familiar to me. Best of luck to all my fellow aspiring players.

lol, Guess i do have time to work on a backstory.

"Greetings tshamek, I am called Akrem."

Human (Shoanti - Shiikirri-Quah) Bloodrager (Destined)

Akrem Azghat (Song of Ancients) was recently created to apply for another RotR campaign, but I believe his backstory and motivation (liberation from apartheid) would fit him perfectly into your campaign as a champion of Desna. Please check him out--I think you will be pleased.

Had a chance to get my draft submission done tonight for the opening of the Recruitment on Monday. Going to be a busy week so I figured I would get it out of the way, will post the Avatar with the stats once the full Recruitment is opened in case I missed something that you include in the build Guidelines DM.

Silver Crusade

Definitely interested, will get to work on idea-ing something.

Silver Crusade

Curious, would you allow the use of Variant Multiclassing from Unchained?

Silver Crusade

Hmm, let's see,

Ab-no
Erastil-eh, nah.
Desna-I do like the Dreamer :3
Gozreh-Never played someone worshipping a Nature Deity, hmmm...
Sarenrae-Haven't played anyone following the Redeemer either, and I really like her, but I'm not really the forgiving type.
Shelyn-Like art and beauty and being nice :3

So I guess between Desna and Shelyn.

This sounds interesting. I like the idea of characters being chosen by a god.

Have to see what my muse can come up with. :)

Variant Multiclassing- I'm not going to allow this. I like the idea at least in theory, the execution was IMO pretty inconsistent, but gaining the domain and SLAs is already sort of a ramped up VMC Cleric (for free) so I don't want to pile anything else on to that.

official recruitment- I have one more assignment to finish for the semester and as soon as that's done I'll open the official recruitment. I'll post a link for it here too for those keeping an eye on this thread.

Silver Crusade

Okies, couldn't hurt to ask though :3

Pathfinder Lost Omens, Rulebook Subscriber

Well, I realized I screwed up with my character's backstory and couldn't figure out an appropriate alternative so it's back to the drawing board.

I have all the stats done for my submission, now to write up her backstory!

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

I'm still finishing up stuff for my class (so this isn't the post where i link official recruitment), just wanted to say how excited I am for the amount of enthusiasm I'm seeing. Also, the official recruitment will be open for like 10 days so don't feel like you have to rush to get everything done day 1, lol. There will be more details in the official recruitment thread so if you finish before that's up you may have some reworking to do.

Also, it looks like there may be at least a couple of people looking to use a modified version of the same character they submitted to Allistair's game... I'm not sure if he specified when he'll announce his party but, if possible, please wait until he does and then if you still want to apply to this game make all the necessary revisions before you submit- "here's a guy that doesn't actually match what you asked for but I'll change her if you pick me" is almost certainly not going to get picked for this game. I have no objection at all to people submitting characters they tried elsewhere first but I'm not likely to select a character that doesn't match what I'm looking for on the grounds that they'll get turned into what I'm looking for later.

Sounds interesting. I'll have to look up the gods and see who they are. Normally I don't get involved into established canon, so I'm starting blank on that front. I'll have to see about what kind of character works with them.

I admit though that I avoid standard things in general unless I have a really good concept.

Words of power acceptable?

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

re:words of power-
I'm not a huge fan of the system... if you can work your concept with a standard caster that would be preferable, but if it's necessary for what your trying to do (and you think you can get it to dovetail with the divine/chosen theme) go for it.

Official Recruitment is now open!
